The Chestnut Horse is a unique and historic 16th century pub located on the outskirts of Winchester. We offer a modern British menu featuring simple, classic, seasonal dishes and an abundance of fresh local produce. We are continually striving to be the best. Our warm, welcoming and relaxing atmosphere compliments our high quality, fresh, locally sourced meals. There is a decked area and a garden to the rear of the pub, including the original water well for the building. The River Itchen is a few steps down the road, so why not go for a relaxing picturesque walk and join us for some food and a drink afterwards.

Well below expectations ! Disappointing ! Pie of the DAY was a small slice of beef pie and a huge dollop of mash - no vegatables ! at a price of c.£15. this was extortionate ! OVER priced and underwhelmed !

Impossible to review The Chestnut Horse as we booked online via the OpenTable link on the pub's website only to find it closed when we arrived. The landlord has since apologised, when we complained via email, but this booking system clearly didn't work in this case. In future, I'll revert to the phone!

What a fabulous and character full country pub just a few minutes drive from the centre of Winchester! The new owners couldn’t have done more to make it a relaxing and wonderful afternoon. The food was ANAZING! We’d eaten at the Wykeham Arms (with quite a reputation) the week before and this was in a different league all together! Delicious food cooked with love. We will return without doubt and have already recommended to loads of friends.

Had a lovely lunch with a friend for her birthday. Service was great. Lovely couple run the place. The only gripe was the lack of heating although they kindly brought heaters down from their accommodation. We were first in and last out!
