Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC's premiere French brasserie, The Chester, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. In the warmer months, patrons can enjoy al fresco dining overlooking the historic landscape of the Meatpacking District and its cobblestone pathway. The rustic dining room with exposed brick walls, and accented white marble tabletops contrasted by black leather couches create a contemporary atmosphere. With 150 seats spanning across a bi-level interior and a full bar, The Chester, provides a seamless transition into the hotel lobby's lively decor.

Sadly they were out of the entire raw bar and the fish of the day and we sat at 5:30.

Food was amazing. Just wish there was more of it per order. Drinks were good yet strong. Definitely a place to get a good buzz. Ambiance is cheerful. Service is outstanding!

We thought because this restaurant was part of the Gansevoort Hotel that it'd be busy, well-staffed, and fairly interesting. Instead, it was empty (NYC offers a lot of food options, so this is only somewhat surprising), the waitress tried to do the 'no notepad' approach to memorizing our order, but had to come back and doublecheck on certain items, and then had to inform us a few times that something was out of stock, despite the place being empty. The food itself was OK, and the waitress was pleasant (although whenever I said "thank you" she said "no problem" as opposed to "my pleasure"), but I nothing about my experience here was notable enough to imagine ever going back.

Too expensive for the food quality. Service ok but won't eat there again.

Great food - this chef can cook, cold coffee & expresso - should have been hot & fresh, untrained staff member.

Service was terrible! Our server had zero clue what he was doing. He was bombed and reeked of alcohol.
We didn’t receive a round of drinks we ordered or one of the apps. The server blamed everything on the runner and it had nothing to do with him.
Our entire time at the Chester our server was nowhere to be found we actually had to get up and look for him twice.
If you want good service go to the bar and order everything yourself.

Ordered sparkling water with lemons and limes. He expected us to drink the Pellegrino out of the bottle with no cups, no lemons or limes as asked for.
Ordered 2 rounds of drinks only received one.
Turkey burger tastes like cardboard.
Ordered steak medium rare and it was cooked well done.
French fries fell over while server was putting them on the table and told us he would bring another with the ketchup. Didn’t do either.
