   Friendly service. We were the only people for brunch at 11am on Sunday. The brunch menu was fairly small with the standards, but found it a bit pricey for what it was. Nothing really terribly exciting but portions were decent and everything tasted fine.

   The Chester is a middling American restaurant in the Meatpacking District. It's low-key, unfancy, and okay. Nothing is spectacular but nothing is bad either. We had the Steak Frites, which was tasty and okay -- again, not the best but far from the worst. This place seems like a tourist-type place, especially in the very upscale Meatpacking. I'm not a tourist (NY-native), but wasn't looking for a scene or to spend over $100 per person. So, it was an okay choice.

   food is really really really bad. and really expensive for no reason. i think a holiday inn's room service would be better. service was good. our waiter was very kind. however, even good service can't help this awful meal. ambiance is fine but it should be, it's Meatpacking. close your eyes, throw a rock and where it lands you can have a better meal in the area.

   Waited 25 minutes and had only received coffee, not even waters. Never even got a chance to order food before we ended up walking out. There were only three or four other tables in the restaurant.

   Food was insanely overpriced. Everything we ordered was over cooked and dry and under seasoned. The entire building smelled like a gas leak, the restrooms are up a flight of stairs and the door to the restroom doesn’t close because there is an extension cord running lights from the hallway. Waitress was super helpful, ambiance was super cute but everything else was SUCH a bummer and so expensive. We were not guests at the hotel.

    The Thanksgiving special was truly a small plate; overpriced and it could be better, more generous. The $10 dessert was delicious. Not a place for celebration, it’s more a “bar” kind of place.

    This was my 3rd time at The Chester for a business dinner and they did not disappoint. The first time was a larger group dinner on the outdoor patio, with the 2nd & 3rd visits w/ smaller groups. The service and food were both great! On one of the visits, we even had a chance to sit outside on an unusually warm evening in Nov (this is a late post!). As with many places in NY, The Chester is a great location for people watching and just enjoying watching life around you walk by as you enjoy everything this place has to offer. The Chester will forever be my go to spot.

    We ordered the steak and chimichurri and were told AFTER the steak arrived that they were out of chimichurri. We ordered WATER and were told that the “big bottles were in the basement so it would be awhile” and awhile meant never as we went the whole meal without water. Still charged for everything with no apology other then the housewives were staying at the hotel and ordering a lot of food. Honestly have no words. Ordered an iced tea which arrived AFTER we finished our meal. $250 and 3.5 hours later and I can safely say it was the worst dining experience of my life. Shame on this restaurant.

    Other than one guy who filled our water glasses and moved an umbrella to keep off the sun, service was nonexistent. Nobody cleaned debris from a previous diner from the table, brought silverware until asked, and started to put our entrees on the table without clearing away the dirty plates from our appetizer. I do think the problem with the service was they appeared short staffed and the bus boys/runners appeared to no training at all. The food was forgettable and despite the very nice outdoor seating, it is unlikely we will return.

    I’d like to preface this message by saying that I have never written into a restaurant or establishment to complain about the service. I am a 27 year old woman, and quite frankly, I have better things to do with my time. However, my experience at The Chester restaurant was hands down the most disrespectful and terrible dining experience I’ve ever had. Hostess at the front was extremely rude. Food was bad. Drinks were wrong. Service was so slow. I wouldn’t wish this dining experience on my worst enemies. Awful. I wish I could rate this place a 0/5.

    I previously left an unhappy review for The Chester because I had two poor experiences there in one week. Since then, the team at The Chester has reached out to me personally and has been extremely generous. Donny and Mickey in particular were amazing. Mickey was so attentive our entire stay. Donny visited our table a few times to check in on us as well. So kind, helpful and made our third experience there very enjoyable. We will be back again!

    The pics & front desk clerk presented Chester as an exclusive dining experience where I was lucky to get a table, even as a hotel guest. The food was fine & our waitress was really nice but it was more of a sports bar atmosphere than a restaurant & far from fine dining.

    I was expecting it to be exactly like it website. Dress code specifically said no athletic wear. So my girlfriend and I was dressed up. Jacket shoes, girlfriend beautiful dress. When we arrive everyone is dressed in athletic wear. Love the place but disappointed with the dress code.

    What would have been an otherwise great meal was ruined by the rude host who told us that the terrace booths were only available to reservations and after I told him that I had one corrected me that they were only available to parties of more than 6. After leaving I got to see multiple of these booths with parties of just 2. The arrogance of the host only made it worse. It’s sad because the food was great and the waiter I had was super sweet.

    We went to the Chester for Thanksgiving dinner; an advertised pre-fixe dinner. This post isn’t about customer service as it was TG and I understand staffs are short and people call in sick or simply don’t wanna work, thus we’ll leave the average service rating here. However, if you advertise a TG prefixed dinner and it’s the ONLY thing you can get, it should be good or at least decent. The actual choices for the dinner weren’t bad, there were good traditional selections, i.e, turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, etc. The entire plate of food felt/tasted like it had been sitting on the counter for 20 minutes. It’s ok if the food isn’t home cooked like you’re used to but it should at least be hot. That’s just effort. There was no gravy served with the dinner, when we asked for more gravy, they brought a container of orange oil - it was disgusting. And it came 15 minutes after we asked for it. The only thing that saved the dinner was the dessert which was actually pretty good (choices were apple or pecan pie) It would have been really good if the a la mode that was advertised actually came with the dessert :) Finally, the check came for our dinner of 4 and the 20% tip was INCLUDED. Overall, not a good experience at all at the Chester, will never eat there again.

    Food was great, unfortunately they have no idea of timing, our mains arrived before we had finished our starters. The inside is big but we were all sitting in the terrace, which did have heaters but the roads were being dug up so very noisy. They opened at 12, we arrived at 12:15, no one was ready. Not sure I would eat there again.

    Patio was not heated as in other reviews Coffee was cold, waitress brought the wrong salad And they "forgot" to tell Open table we dined there. But like the other reviews the outdoor patio was very nice

    We had an early brunch outside on a Sunday, on covered heated patio. It was raining but the patio was warm and dry. We had Avocado toast, Florentine omelettes, French toast, egg sandwich, eggs with duck sausage; all guests reported delicious food with large portions. Bloody Mary was excellent, they were out of cardamom soda for lavender cocktail. There is street parking nearby, at least on a Sunday. 2 blocks from Chelsea market, close to little Island, Google HQ and many upscale shops. Note some streets nearby are closed for pedestrian traffic and not marked on Google Maps

    The service was wonderful! The server was a kind, energetic and lovely person and really made our night. The food (especially the truffle fries!) and drinks were great too. I was just turned off by the mice running around our feet and around us. I know it is NYC and we were sitting outdoors on the street, but it was creepy and we were afraid they would touch us.

    Our server was the absolute best! She was found the perfect balance of letting my friend and catch up but she never made us feel neglected either. The food was also delicious- I definitely recommend the truffle fries!
