Great food, beautifully prepared and decent portions. Wonderful setting in the middle of the countryside, we loved the design and decor inside and out. Thank you, our second visit was just as good as the first.

Best decision I have made. I really loved it, and it is a gorgeous pub with great food and service in a really beautiful old pub. Loved every minute.

Excellent food, service, ambience and we simply had a delightful time. Will definitely be back! It felt a luxury to relax over lunch and not feel rushed in any way. The decor and attention to detail were also extremely inviting !

Lovely Sunday lunch and good varied menu although would have preferred to have one course instead of being obliged to have two or three. Lovely old pub with a super garden. Arrival experience was not good as two members of staff were very surly about us entering the car park at 10.30 to walk before lunch. From the Brakspear pub web site The Chequers prides itself in being a perfect venue for walking and even describes three local walks all starting and finishing at the pub. Not unreasonable therefore to expect to be able to park in the car park for walking prior to lunch ( table already reserved ). The staff members were keen to point out that car parking prior to 12.00 is not allowed which makes a mockery of your claim to be a pub suitable for walkers !!!

We sat outside in the pretty garden. We all really enjoyed our delicious food. There is a good selection of beers and everyone said how much they'd enjoyed it. It's a great place to stop for lunch, after a good walk
