We know times are tough for pubs – many are raising prices, cutting quality, or doing the same old thing. We’re going in the opposite direction. As a local, independent business, we’re putting heart, quality, and fair pricing at the centre of everything we do. It wasn't the staffs fault, we went in hopefully for one of there roast dinners, but they changed the menu the night before, so we then said we would reluctantly have fish and chips they didn't have any fish so we left and went somewhere else

We had a lovely meal, everyone in the party enjoyed their food. Was a bit of a wait for food, dessert and paying the bill (didn’t realise we were meant to pay at the bar) but otherwise we had an enjoyable evening.

Staff very helpful, chatty, nothing too much trouble, food was awesome. Limited menu, which was explained why so no surprises, prices were very reasonable. Will definitely go back.

New people running the Chequers now know as the Chequers smokehouse. They are using a reduce menu at present. The main selling points is the in house smoked meats. We had the chicken wing and pork belly thes were excellent along with chips and various sauces etc. only done side very little vegan or vegetarian option. Service very good, attentive and friendly.

After a day at the seaside, The Chequers was the perfect stop on the way home for a large group of us at fairly short notice. The Sunday roast was superb, the setting was lovely and the staff were great. We will be back!

First time visiting for a Sunday lunch as just moved to area, from start to finish the service and food was second to none. Will definitely be returning

We were served with a smile and the food was delicious, felt so welcome. We would definitely recommend. And are going back soon to try more of the menu.

An amazing experience,first time back under the new management and we were not disappointed. We'll certainly be returning as the food , service and all round it was a very enjoyable experience

Probably the best roast we've had in a long time. Couldn't fault anything and the gravy was delicious. We didn't have room for a dessert but they sounded lovely.
