We chose sharing starter for 3 which was lacking variety. There were no dipping sauces and was overpriced for the content. Mains were either pork chicken or 1 beef option. All were over seasoned. Deserts were limited. Overall expensive and lacking options.

They had a limited menu as they are still in the process of renovating the kitchen. It is not mentioned on their website so the full menu is there. I was very disappointed to see the limited menu when we arrived. It is mainly bbq items. I requested Belly Pork and they gave me a pulled pork burger, the waitress did offer to change it but the people I was with had their meals and it would've meant I ate later. Service was quite slow, even though they weren't busy. My other diners enjoyed their meal- all in all though until they sort out the kitchen we wouldn't visit again. The food was decent however, but overall service being slow and wrong order means it could've been better, so my review reflects this.

It wasn't the staffs fault, we went in hopefully for one of there roast dinners, but they changed the menu the night before, so we then said we would reluctantly have fish and chips they didn't have any fish so we left and went somewhere else

We had a lovely meal, everyone in the party enjoyed their food. Was a bit of a wait for food, dessert and paying the bill (didn’t realise we were meant to pay at the bar) but otherwise we had an enjoyable evening.

Staff very helpful, chatty, nothing too much trouble, food was awesome. Limited menu, which was explained why so no surprises, prices were very reasonable. Will definitely go back.

New people running the Chequers now know as the Chequers smokehouse. They are using a reduce menu at present. The main selling points is the in house smoked meats. We had the chicken wing and pork belly thes were excellent along with chips and various sauces etc. only done side very little vegan or vegetarian option. Service very good, attentive and friendly.

After a day at the seaside, The Chequers was the perfect stop on the way home for a large group of us at fairly short notice. The Sunday roast was superb, the setting was lovely and the staff were great. We will be back!
