   We booked for the dining room but were moved to the bar area because there was a wedding party in the dining room. That was fine and we had no problem with that, but a large number of the wedding party started in the bar and to say that they were noisy would be a gross understatement!!! Some were shouting to make themselves heard, so others were shouting louder. It was much better once they went for their food, but regrettably some came back and were just as loud. Don't get me wrong, I am not a party proper, but when you can't hold a conversation with someone on the other side of the table it spoils a nice evening.

   We have eaten here many times but on this occasion we were disappointed with the menu which was trying too hard to be different. Service, as usual, was excellent.

   First time to dine at the Cheques, was very impressed with the food and the service was very good. would recommend to my friends and family. well done.

   The service was excellent and they took food allergies seriously. We all had the Sunday roast. This wasn’t as good as previous visits. The Yorkshire pudding was very overcooked. The parsnips were raw, the green veg was like mush and the plates were swimming in thin gravy. The meat and roast potatoes were ok.. There was a 10% service charge and no option not to pay it, this added an extra £24 to the final bill, a lot of money for carrying eight plates of food and eight drinks to a table! We were celebrating a special anniversary and had informed the restaurant when we booked but not one member of staff mentioned it. As stated before ,we have visited here for family celebrations several times and have always enjoyed the food however I’m not so sure we’ll choose to come again based on the food we had yesterday.

   Excellent service and Sunday roast outstanding just don’t agree with service charge added on already should inform customers before hand

   First visit back to Chequers in several years. Was always good - now even better I would say.

   We had a lovely meal to celebrate Mothering Sunday at the Chequers. Staff are wonderful.

   My wife and I returned after many years to The Chequers for a lunchtime meal. We were not disappointed as it still maintains that special ambience of an established and quality establishment. The food and service were first rate and we hope to be able return on a more regular basis. Thank you

    We have enjoyed the pub many times over the years & always make the effort to come when we can, this afternoon was a disappointment, food was spot on but the service sadly let the visit down, the waitresses that served us could not wait to finish..... however we still left a tip for the lovely guy who's alway a gent with dark hair & lady with glasses who always smile
