The Cheese Bar Camden
We work closely with our producers, sourcing all our cheese direct from UK-based farms that are making cheese in a traditional & thoughtful way.
The food was terrible. The service was good
Atmosphere waa strange abit flat but nevertherless seating was good. Cheese board was barely worth calling a cheese board, crackers tasted like burnt biscuits. Truffle cheese chips i could of made at home. Service was very poor staff looked like they had just woke up, little enthusiasm or care. Wine was good but this place could be better but sadly ill be making my grilled cheese sandwiches at home instead of wasting money here.
Delicious food...good atmosphere and friendly staff. Had mozzarella sticks which were fresh, light and delicious and the cheese puffs/profiteroles were amazing. Cheese fondue highly recommended. I didn’t use the toilets but it would appear these are situated outwith the restaurant.
I was asked if it was a special event, I put that it was a birthday however nothing came of this. The loo situation was not ideal, I’m not sure if this is usual but we had to use a card, leave the restaurant and go to the public toilets a few minutes away in the rain. Despite this, the food was absolutely amazing!! I would go back just for the food!
Such an amazing selection of cheese! Also all from England and the wine is quality too. Me and my girlfriend really enjoyed our food and time there, as well as the staff who where nice and friendly:)
We pre-booked in advance, and dined at lunchtime. As it is only a very small establishment, it was extremely quiet when we arrived, and it felt like you needed to whisper your conversations so as not to be heard by the few other guests already there. The atmosphere did pick up once more guests arrived, though it was still quite quiet even with most of the seats taken.
The food was delicious, and as cheese fans we absolutely loved it. It's a definite must-visit for any cheese lovers and we would recommend the blue cheese raclette and deep fried cheesey jalapenos - delicious!
I've worked in hospitality my whole life, this was th perfect dining experience. The service was delightful and speedy without being overbearing, couldn't have asked for more. It wasn't in any way too loud, but there was a nice buzz to the atmosphere. The FOOD. The food is amazing, the fondue absolutely to die for as was everything else we had. Honestly we couldn't fault a thing which is very rare.
Great experience - staff was not only friendly but conversational and had some good banter with them. Food and drinks were served in good time as well as given great recommendations. Overall, lovely time spent.
Amazing food. Really supportive staff for gluten free. Highly recommend
The service was a bit of a let down but everything else was great.
Sat at the bar seating for mine and my partner's anniversary and would recommend these seats to anyone, friendly bar staff who are more than happy for a quick chat and great to be able to have the option of seeing the drinks made straight in front of you.
The food was exceptional. There is nothing more than I can say, it was a dream!
Love this place.
Had a fabulous lunch at the cheese bar with some friends. Service was a little slow but we weren't in a rush. Food was great and we were all definitely stuffed and satisfied after!
The food was delicious and the wait staff were pleasant and accommodating. I had to call and ask them to push back our reservation because I was running late, and they did this without question. However, it did take a while to be served, despite the fact that when we went it wasn’t that busy.
Amazing food and great service. Well worth the money and by that I mean it’s very decently priced. Will definitely be going again!
Loved it! Had a great time looking at the menu as well as everyone else's dishes! The fondue was great, definitely a hit! Very big portion, probably enough for 3/4 people! Great lunch! I recommend booking as they are constantly busy!
Food was really disappointing. The chicken on the poutine was the lowest quality possible and with few bones. The Stilton Raclette had hardly any stilton on there, and for some reason the potatoes underneath the cheese were swimming in a sugary sauce - which makes no culinary sense and was practically inedible! I had to scrape the potatoes out and take the cheese off so that I could actually enjoy it. The 'grilled' cheese looked deep fried and my friend couldn't finish it because it was so greasy. The people sitting next to us were clearly upset because their booking had been lost and they weren't told when they got there what time they would need to vacate their table.
The cheese board had the most disgusting, stale crackers with it - but the cheese was nice.
It was just a massive let down in general. We were so excited and we'd been planning it for weeks. We came down especially from Norfolk literally just to come to this restuarant. It really felt like a waste of time and money.
The cost was £80 for three people, which included a few drinks too. So it wasn't as bad as it cold have been. But the quality of the food was so poor that I definitely wouldn't be back, and will be recommending that friends avoid.
Superb dishes featuring excellent British cheeses. This is my 3rd trip and I've enjoyed every dish. The cheese puffs are a must-try!
Food was of high quality, but the portion sizes were for children... the price did not help either, should have been at least 20% cheaper to meet the value. The waitress was also lazy, arranging the seating layout not for the customers comfort but for her ease to do her job... quite shocking.... Overall, was worth a one time visit, but definitely overhyped. Would not go again, unless there were some changes....
It was my absolute heaven ... everything on the menu has cheese in it and they have 25 house cheeses!! We were a group of 9 so got to share loads of dishes and try various different things .. I’d recommend doing it this way because you’ll want everything on the menu!
I really liked the place and the food.
Can't go wrong with it, especially if you love cheese.
The only issue was that the service was not very friendly (especially taking into accoun that it is mandatory to pay the 13.5% on tip, which I don't agree with).
Love the food, and the service was good. Would definitely return, and recommend to others.
I would recommend it as an experience to have, something different from other restaurants.
We went to celebrate my birthday, the food was amazing and the staff was really nice and helpful and surprised me with a chocolate mousse as a birthday gift! It was a lovely night and I would definitely go again!
It is a wonderful place. If you love cheese go and visit! The team working there is very friendly as well! Thanks for the small gift for my wife’s birthday!
Small, but perfectly formed menu of cheesy goodness. Nice staff and food comes quickly, so it's great for lunch
Innovative dishes, perfect for cheese lovers! Nice evening out as well with some smiley, friendly waiters.
The food was good but it's a very limited menu. There was a large list of cheeses but they don't actually sell them. Enjoyed our lunch but had hoped for a more extensive list of items, drinks etc. The barman was very friendly and we enjoyed talking to him.
I’ve been to The Cheese Bar before and couldn’t fault it but this time was a different experience. We were sat at the bar right by the kitchen which was loud and busy, and cutlery was noisily polishes in front of us for half of the time we were there. We waited a long time for drinks after ordering and again waited to pay the bill as only one person was working behind the bar at that point and was dealing with drinks orders, it seems they were understaffed. Music also went off for about 30 mins which may not have been noticeable if it wasn’t just us and 2 other couples.
They have no toilet so by the time I had queued 20 minutes outside in the cold for the public toilets my food was cold when I came back. The servers never offered to keep the food warm to my partner.
The food would have been amazing if warm, no one ever asked how the food was. This is a bit poor considering you have to pay a 12.5% service charge.
A very nice bar, quite small and with a fairly niche menu, but the food is fantastic
This place was amazing... Cheese cheese and cheese.. All glorious and the accompaniments with the cheese was glorious xxx
Lacklustre. Didnt seem like the staff wanted to be there - and quite often they werent! Dont bother going if you have a friend in a wheelchair...all the tables are waist-height. And I thought missing a trick for a cheese bar not to have a better winelist
First time I had a cheese fondue so I have nothing else to compare to. The fondue was good but personally it wasn't cheesy enough and the alcohol content was a bit high. There was enough bread and potatoes to dip into the fondue but it could have done with something else as well like mushrooms. The extra pork meatballs were £4 for 6 tiny ones, disappointing. Don't order them. The grilled cheese sandwich was standard but a bit small. Not quite up to scratch for £7 for bread and cheese. I was satisfied, belly fullness wise. Good experience but I won't Be returning anytime soon.
Love this place highly recommend for cheese lover
Great set up in a quirky location. Food was lovely. Atmosphere was good with interesting decor.
Small restaurant with a lot going on.
The food was amazing couldn’t have faulted it and the service was amazing. The staff were so friendly I’d definitely go back.
I would come back here in a heart beat. The food was amazing and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Birthday lunch. Everyone had great time. Birthday icecream with candles was lovely touch. Would definitely recommend at least one visit, however we will be back.
Have been several times, bringing friends and family from oversees to try it as the food is amazing, the prices are very reasonable and the staff are welcoming and knowledgable about the food they offer. A great celebration of cheese.
We had to wait 45 minutes for the card machine to work - and as soon as it worked they used the card machine for other guests first who had only been waiting 5 minutes, which was really rude and to be honest not very apologetic/sympathetic that we had been waiting there for ages.
