This was my partner and Is first time visiting the Chart Room. We had a reservation scheduled for 7pm outside and wasn’t able to be seated until 7:25. The Service was a little slow, but nothing compares to the view at the Black Point Inn!

We have been multiple times this year and everything we have tried has been delicious! Really happy with the new menu and our server, Riley was great.

Having been to the Black Point Inn several times over the years the ambiance is simply the best. Service was excellent. However the menu needs a little help. I enjoy seafood but the menu appeared heavy in that regard. The special was a surf and turf with tenderloin and lobster with asparagus and corn. I enjoyed the meal but the lobster was MIA. Not even an once of meat. Two others in my group had salmon dishes. Both very good. The fourth member had steak frites. Meat was cooked ok but tough to chew. He boxed it up to take home and season it with a chimichura sauce which was provided with the meal but not well seasoned. Not pleased with his entre.

While the Black Point has an A+ location overlooking the ocean the service and the food do not. We did come on a busy night but it’s summer and every night is busy there. Our waitress was pleasant and took our order quickly. We both ordered salads. My Caesar salad was a disappointment. The romaine lettuce was mostly limp and the dressing was warm. Not what I hoped for on a very hot night. Our dinner arrived while we were eating the salad. Because our table was very small the waiter just pushed my salad out of the way to make room for the main dish, scallops. The real disappointment was the seared Scallops with grits and asparagus. The scallops were over cooked and somewhat sandy. The asparagus was tough and limp. The grits were, well grits. A very disappointing dinner at a high cost.

Good experience overall. Our server, Amy, was amazing, but she was the bartender and covered a few tables while other servers had lighter loads. Whenever someone wasn’t able to be seated, they would form a line at the bar, making her really busy and reducing the amount of time she was able to spend with us. She also was covering part of the service bar which was very busy. That said, she was still very kind and helpful. The food was okay, it felt like the “old money” version of Applebee’s and was not what you’d expect for a once or twice a year celebration dinner. We got the oysters, which had all of the liquor drained. The Brie didn’t have much flavor but the breads were delicious. The Brussels sprouts were a go to appetizer and we’d get these again for sure. The steak frites was cooked perfectly, but the salad was on top of everything and the steak was covered in chimichurri, making the entire steak taste like it. With the salad on top, this left the dressing seeping into the steak. The fries were delicious. For the scallops, the grit-to-scallop ratio was off. The scallops were delicious and big, but there were only four of them for a big plate of grits. The cocktails were amazing and all the food came out quick when our server was able to take the order. Atmosphere wise, it was very busy and a whole section of the restaurant was reserved for a party later in the evening. I would not recommend sitting in the bar high tops as this was the busiest and loudest spot. Also, the air conditioning in the bar was turned off on a 100 degree day, but it was turned on in other spots. Overall, again, this seems like a great weeknight dinner if you have the funds to do it. For those special occasions where you are saving up to drop a $150-$250 bill, I would recommend looking for another spot.
