The Charming Squire Restaurant
It’s also a working James Squire brewery where you can get acquainted with the brewing process as you explore the James Squire craft beer range, all the while enjoying delicious dishes designed to complement the flavours of the beers. Visit our website to see what's on tap.
Beautifully balanced dishes that were reasonably sized and priced.. the cabernet jus (on the rib fillet) exceeded expectations.
The food was outstandingly presented and sumptuous. The table service was alright, but as more people came in we felt unattended. My only gripe was we had to wait over an hour for dinner and people who came in after us were eating before us. The management however apologised and gave us discount. I understand that it was very busy, but we were going to a show, so timing of our meal was vital.
The Squire is utterly reliable. They know when there's a function and the kitchen meets that deadline faithfully.
The food was so good. We did shareplates and wasn't disappointed (pork belly and scallops).
Even though our booking wasn't processed, the staff worked us into the evening and gave us some lovely seating by the window. The service provided by our waiter, Tristan, was impeccable as he looked after us the whole time we were there and he showed great values that we appreciated. The food was delicious, however, it would've been nice if chips/mashed potato was given as a part of the mains/steaks besides the pumpkin and broccolini rather than being an add-on. Overall, we had a fabulous night and I will be sure to be back again within the next 6-12 months.
In Australia it’s a little confronting and awkward to be presented with the mobile EFTPOS at your table with the screen reading ‘would you like to leave a tip - yes or no? Whilst the food was beautiful and the service very good, we weren’t asked either of those things, only if I wanted to tip. This isn’t the US and if your service is outstanding you’ll get your fair share of voluntary tips. It took the edge off what was otherwise a really enjoyable experience.
Great for an early meal before catching a show at QPAC. The staff are well tuned into a quick turnaround and do all they can to get you fed and out on time
Great food, service and vibe. Love this place! Will go again
We were running late due to transport hassles and the staff worked well to get our food to us in a timely manner. Thankyou
The food took more than an hour to come out of the kitchen due to mistake of the server. The mistake was not the issue but the fact that no one noticed and we had to ask, is on them.
Food was exceptional, service and attention to detail was excellent.
Amazing food / drinks and atmosphere. Highly recommend this bar/restaurant
Was a lovely lunch very attentive staff and friendly.
Great place for a business meeting, booths are private and you can actually hear each other talk. Excellent staff and food, highly recommend for dinner or drinks at the bar
Excellent food, portions and service. Served quickly and with a smile. Highly recommend and will definitely return.
Charming by name and nature. From our first greeting, the table service, food knowledge and sense of humour of our waiter through to the delight of our food presentation and taste. The beer selection was great as well. Overall a relaxing, wonderful dining experience once again and look forward to our next encounter.
Very busy night slow service though food was hot and tasty
Absolutely amazing food in a gorgeous place. Service was impeccable. Will definitely be back!
Delicious food, loved the desserts
Great service and fantastic food. Would definitely return.
Great place to eat before a show at QPAC. Timely service was appreciated whilst eating good food.
We went for lunch prior to a performance at The Lyric Theatre. The food was well prepared although smallish portions of the vegetables and the plate could have been heated more as food was not "hot"
The service was very good with good recommendation on the cider.
We have been to this restaurant several times and have enjoyed our meals and beverages. It is a lively place at dinner time in the bar area and tends to a little quieter in the restaurant area but I recommend booking so you won't be disappointed.
Food was delicious and very well presented. The service was great, especially our waiter ( from Belgium), he provided excellent service all evening. Catered for the kids as well which was great..
Good vibe, always full of people enjoying themselves. Good food, friendly atmosphere.
I have been here with a large group of friends and absolutely loved the food so I was really disappointed when I came here with my husband and kids for Father’s Day, the food was pretty average and I saw a lot of food being sent back to the kitchen, for the price of it I was really disappointed.
in addition to that we were supposed to get free parking and the voucher that we were given had expired so we had to pay $25 for parking on top of a really expensive meal. I don’t think I would go back again. Such a shame as I loved the first time we went.
Food was perfect. Great selection of beers. Atmosphere was perfect for a Sunday afternoon. Live music was awesome. All staff were friendly, but a extra big shout out to our very pleasant waiter - he was very attentive to our table, so charming & extremely patient with some of the rowdy members of our crew. thank you.
I booked a table at the restaurant to try out their pizzas cos I heard theyre good, but it turns out that it's only available on the bar side, which didnt make sense because it's connected and we could order drinks from the bar. Food at the restaurant was great but very heavy (heaps of flavorful meat) with nothing to neutralise the flavour, so it was enjoyable at the start but we all struggled to finish it. Drinks were excellent.
Bottom line is: a mixture of good and bad, but was somewhat disappointed because I was there for the pizzas.
Overall, a nice evening, but would have preferred being told at the start of our booking that we had to be out of the table within 2 hours. That wasn't made clear to us until almost an hour into our booking. Which would have been fine, but we hadn't even had anyone come around to take our orders in that first hour. So it made for a very rushed second hour.
Awesome atmosphere and the live music was awesome!
Great restaurant food is amazing and the staff delightful, went for a birthday highly recommended
Was really busy after Bridge to Brisbane, which was to be expected. The overall wait times on food was quite short. Although the service left a little to be desired. A few forgotten drinks and being told they couldn't make an iced coffee, only to come back later with an iced coffee. That was really the only downfall of the morning. Food was good and reasonably well priced and the place wasn't overly loud. Needs to expand their non-alcoholic drinks menus if they are going to do breakfast, because it felt like every suggestion that wasn't "hot coffee" was shut down.
The slow cooked beef cheek was sensational as were the meals of the other 5 in our group. Loved the setting of the booths for small groups of friends and one of the best pale ales.
Great choice of food and wines. Service was efficient but not rushed. A great venue to eat before a show.
I was not impressed by many things at this restaurant. I ordered scallops and calamari (2 separate menu items) as my meal. The scallops were not well prepared and were room temperature, almost cold. They were also an odd size. They had little to no flavor and were not served with anything else in the bowl. The calamari was served in an odd technique that I had never seen before, also having little to no flavor. Not even salt and pepper. The restaurant did try to make it right and offer to re-cook the scallops or allow me to choose another menu option but I did not have interest in anything else. My mom ordered their pork special and it was about 65% fat... inedible as she is not a fan of fat. There were literal chunks of fat... large chunks, on the plate. She was not asked if anything was wrong. The manager never came over and our service became poorer and poorer as the meal went on. Very disappointed in my experience here as I made the booking weeks in advance for my trip to Brisbane. I would not recommend this restaurant and I will not be returning.
the restaurant is always good, not brilliant, the food is always of the same standard very good, tasty etc, the service has always been great, the location is great for QPAC too, this is our fall back restaurant for gigs over the road
would recommend this place for casual mid week dining etc
Food was mostly great and wait staff very attentive. One of our friends was served burnt halloumi with the roasted vege. I have no idea how this got through the pass? The waiter did offer to replace but we needed to get to the theatre. thanks Clare
A nice semi formal restaurant setting with an excellent table service. The noise from adjacent pub was pretty high though. The food was ok. The ribeye steak was excellent but the rump steak was a bit too thinly cut and dry. The slow cooked pork from the pit came drenched in meat juices so it looked more like a stew instead of a grilled pork dish.
The service was amazing, the food was delicious and melted in your mouth
All dishes were delicious. We felt well looked after by the attentive waiter. Thank you for an enjoyable lunch. Have already recommended the restaurant to friends.
Amazing food as always! Can’t wait to go back. Great service
Great service that was considerate of our theatre tickets and dietary requirements. Very accommodating chef and wait staff. Highly recommend the Charming Squire for price, taste, service and atmosphere :-)
