The Charmant Restaurant
butcher steak | barnaise | fries
strawberry rhubarb compote | lemon ricotta
Excellent service. Great ambiance. Food is delicious.
This was my first time dining at The Charmant. My friends and I went out for brunch. The first thing I noticed was the elegant and upscale feel of the restaurant. I loved the vibe and decor (the mix of old and new).
Overall, the food we ordered was phenomenal. I like how you can see the chefs cooking your food in the open. It is especially comforting to see how your food is being handled now more than ever. I ordered the Baked Egg Shakshuka which was phenomenal. Almost like a bruschetta but for breakfast! My friend got the Cróque Madame Tartine and loved it! Similar to an eggs Benedict but brioche bread replacing the traditional English muffin and no Hollandaise sauce. We also ordered country potatoes which were arguably the best breakfast potatoes I have ever had.
COVID-19 procedures were good. Although you could tell they tried to space out seating, they failed to acknowledge the back-to-back seating of booths. The party behind us was within arms reach.
Our server was good. The supervisors delivered the food to our table and checked in on us. It’s always good to see a management team that is interacting with guests first-hand.
The prices of the food were fair. I was a little shocked to see the prices of the beverages when our bill came out, especially because prices were not listed on the menu. If I knew ahead of time that my lemonade (which tasted a little off, and came in a small cup) would cost $5 I certainly would not have ordered one. My friend ordered an iced coffee with vanilla that came out to be $7. Not worth the price.
Will definitely be back! So happy we decided to dine here to catch up with friends while we were in town!
Great vibe, great food, and great service. Would go back again.
Outdoor seating in the west side of hotel was quiet, and private. Tuna Nicoise Tartine small but very nice. French fries crispy and hot!
Wine selection was not great. They had wine in the display case that was not on the menu and the waiter said it was not available to serve. Disappointing!
Loved the charm of the dinning room and the food was excellent!
Absolutely a charming place! I plan to go again when in town.
Just such a great experience 🙂 can't wait to visit again.
Overall, it was average for a dining experience. Food was good; nothing spectacular.
Dear reneel, Thank you for reviewing your dining experience. My apologies that the visit did not meet your expectations. I will be addressing the bar service with my team. I am also sorry that you did not enjoy your table. In all transparency, it gets requested often for special occasions, which is why it was selected for you. However, I can absolutely understand if it did not meet the ambiance you were looking for. I am delighted however that you enjoyed the remainder of your stay!
Great service, outstanding cocktails, unforgettable chef's burger and steak frites.
Nothing has changed. The Charmant is still a wonderful place to meet friends and have a good meal. They are the epitome of hospitality as they work incredibly hard to make us comfortable and safe so we can truly enjoy.
Our table was in a very safe space away from others, our waiter was incredible, and when he found out we were celebrating our wedding anniversary he gave us a free drink. It was a wonderful experience!
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent and served in a timely manner.
As always, a quiet, comfortable place for a long lunch. Nice ambience, good views, good food, and the service is just what you want.
The restaurant is gorgeous, as is the hotel it's nestled in. Service was fantastic, and they have excellent Covid protocols in place. We were on a 17-day cross country road trip and this was the only place we ate inside (their roof deck was closed). But because they had such great protocols in place (masks, tables distanced, large open space), we felt comfortable. The food was very good. Not the most creative we have ever had, but expertly prepared and delicious. (Trout, steak frites, salads, and a delicious honey and goat cheese app.) We loved our server. And the open kitchen gave us that much more security as we could see the chefs at work wearing masks. We also recommend having a drink at the bar. The cocktails were fantastic, and the bartenders were masked and keeping a distance, and super friendly. Huge open space that made us comfortable.
My experience in dining at the Charmant Hotel has been altogether positive. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. The ambience is also pleasant.
We love Charmant!! The food is fresh and cooked by culinary chefs. I am joyed my mushroom burger and my husband had a burger.
Great food, great service. Appreciated their distancing and the staff wearing masks. Would recommend!
The dinning room was picturesque, the food was very good, albeit very limited. The A/C was not working to adequately cool the dining room, although it was very hot out. All in all, a return visit is in the plans!
The staff was very friendly with my friend and I as we went to lunch.
Our dinner was very nice--ordered two entrees and had to take half home, so should have shared one.
Breakfast--great potatoes, but the omelette had way too many onions, and I even like onions.
All the staff was was very nice. Beautiful place!
I was impressed with the service, cordiality of all the staff and cleanliness. I felt very safe in the new normal of this world. I enjoyed my meal had to take part of it home very generous serving! I’ll be back soon!
This was our first time dining in since Shelter in Place went into effect. The staff were all wearing masks, as were we, but we did not see any other patrons in masks. Hand sanitizer was at the host stand for all to use.
Our prior last dine in experience was at this restaurant in March, we love this place and frequent it for special occasions; birthdays, anniversary, and Father's Day.
I would recommend requiring all guests to wear masks. I would also recommend having the front door staffed so only one person is opening it.
You just need to experience the restaurant. It's worth it. Cool place. Amazing food. Great service. Killer drinks. Nice open concept. Great views.
Excellent meal- we had dinner of salmon and half-chicken entrees. Also green goddess salad was terrific as well. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Cassie was our server and she was very personable and quite efficient. Wine list was very expansive and reasonably priced as well. Do yourself a favor next time you dine in La Crosse and judge for yourself.
Service and food was excellent. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone.
Salmon Benedict was probably the best I've ever tasted! I aways have a good experience here.
Their breakfast and service is always phenomenal.
We were delighted that the restaurant was open, clean and the food was delicious.
stopped in for Brunch. As it was my first time there, I had asked for some recommendations. Our server Cassie went through the highlights of a few of the dishes we were considering. But one thing she highly suggested was a side order of the bacon, and was she right on the mark with that one! Try it , it's delicious!
We look forward to coming back. If you do stop in, ask for Cassie, she's an amazing server!
Amazing staff and food, as always! Made my daughter's 10th birthday celebrate special!
Absolutely amazing atmosphere. The waitress was very friendly, had perfect timing serving and checking on our table, and also was kind enough to take a few pictures of our special night. The steak that we had ordered was the best I've tasted in the La Crosse area.
Enjoyed a delicious breakfast, cappuccino and great service.
Excellent food and service. Very accommodating staff.
Service was great, food and drinks were excellent!
What a wonderful Monday evening out! Not knowing what to expect on an atypical dining night we found the place with a fair amount of folks inside. We were seated immediately with drinks ordered promptly. Before our entree decisions we tried the cheese sampler which was varied and spectacular. Eventually my wife settled on the Surf And Turf with onion soup while I went with something I don't normally order in a restaurant, the Schnitzel.
The main dishes did not take long to arrive and everything was delicious. So much flavor all around and filling too. Granted menu prices are a bit high but we knew that going in. Also a Monday night in February is not the best time to enjoy outdoor scenery through the near-floor to ceiling windows but that's on us. Compliments to the staff and chef. We loved it.
Oh my goodness I LOVED this restaurant! First off, the ambiance and setting was just so beautiful and comfortable. The food was INCREDIBLE. Wow everything I had was so good, I recommend the Cuban sandwich (the fries that come with it are perfect) and the Mac and cheese! Ugh easily some of the best food I’ve had. What impressed me most besides the food is the service! Not only were the hostesses super kind, but our server Cassie was the BEST!!! She was so sweet, made us feel very welcome, was honest about her opinions about the food, and remembered us whenever we came into the restaurant (which was several times during our stay in La Crosse)!
Hope to be back soon, The Charmant! :)
The special valentines menu was great. I tried things I wouldn’t have normally tried and it was all very good!
We had the world's best waitress. Cassie. My friend didn't want white wine paired with his food. Cassie was very accommodating
