The Charleston Draper
We were greeted by a very friendly Hostess that kept us informed of when our table would be ready. It was a busy night and she was concerned about our desire to sit by a large table of school students. We decided to wait for a different table. Because of the wait, we received an complimentary appetizer. The food was wonderful and we loved the Atmosphere. We had great service by multiple people.
Staff and food were amazing !!
The food was terrific, and the service was outstanding, I'm coming back again.
Thank you for the fantastic staff and service!
Food and service excellent, would have preferred a different room but it was New Year’s Eve so it was packed. Felt like we were eating in a 3 table closet.
Noticed in previous ratings that the service was poor, and we had the same problem. Arrived 5 minutes early and we were asked to wait in a waiting area, which happens to be by the kitchen, so servers were running through this small area making it feel like we were in a penalty box. Server was inexperienced and disappeared for our last hour. We asked another server to let our server know we would like to see him (usually this works), but no luck. We put on our coats and paid on the way out. Also, no refills on the water, and the water person refused to acknowledge our existence. The cocktails were bad, lots of ice made it taste watered down, totally unacceptable at these prices. Food was okay but poor for these price points (specials were $65). Talked to the manager on the way out, she made excuses for the server who had a large party in the other room. Really? This is a small place and it was booked, you should know how much support you need. Ambiance was great, clean and very tastefully decorated. However, we will not be returning.
Beautiful for Christmas! Wonderful food!
Still our favorite get away, for a great meal, and ambience!
Absolutely recommend the Charleston! Great service from everyone there. Very attentive and intuitive to our needs. Great menu, if a little overpriced for the value. The lobster macaroni was arguably the best macaroni I've ever had. Yet for the price, the lobster meat itself was fairly stingy, with only one claw meat section visible. Still, great taste and ambiance, and my wife's salmon was prepared just as advertised. Parking is a challenge, and I'm no road warrior, but I pulled in to the tiny parking lot at just the moment someone else was pulling out...hence my entitled parking. There is road parking, however, and this minor inconvenience shouldn't prevent anyone from enjoying this relatively new entry into Northern Utah's culinary scene.
Delightful environment, fabulous service and wonderful food. The menu is just broad enough that I can confidently say there is a choice for everyone’s taste. I plan on returning soon for lunch. I would recommend this restaurant in a heart beat.
Came for work Christmas party, was very nice. Great atmosphere.
Great food in a nice ambience that complements the culinary experience.
Charleston Draper was recommended from a friend. It was a beautiful, charming place with a wonderful atmosphere. Host, Server, Chef all did an AMAZING job! I would recommend this place for a finer dining experience. So charming and unique. Loved every thing about it!
One of the best eating establishments I have every had the pleasure of dinning at. Thank you Chef Marco and your great staff for making our wedding anniversary so memorable. The food was amazing and the service was right on point.
Nice restaurant but over priced for what you get and compared to other fine dining restaurants.
For the price and suggested experience the restaurant advertises, the service should be more refined and seamless. The waitress was very friendly and courteous, but asked to take my plate when my date was still eating, and was not fully sure how to present, open and pour the wine. Decanting was not offered. Little things, but the image the restaurant is trying to establish, should include more refined service.
The food is VERY good.
Excellent food and good menu. Wonderful ambiance. Quiet, cozy location. Fantastic choice for a special date.
To better justify the price, dinners should include complimentary side salad and/or soup to round out a complete meal.
This was our first experience at The Charleston Draper. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and they made it beyond magical.
My steak was cooked perfectly and the shrimp were divine. My husband loved his beef stew. We also enjoyed the baked brie and bread pudding desert.
Our server was top notch and really made the night extra special by not being too pushy and following our lead on the time we wanted to spend at the restaurant. We will be returning.
Great staff, great environment, great food and cocktails. Loved it.
Charming converted residence. Elegant and intimate. Good food, high service level.
Regrettably we must share that this charming venue was understaffed leaving us w/o adequate plates, not remembering a food allergy and making us feel uncomfortable requesting various items; at one time we had to walk to the front to remind about our needs. Apparently a complimentary dessert - not of our choosing - was to makeup for our disappointing experience. We love the location and hope management can put in place the necessary changes to make the dining equal to its high prices and lovely ambience.
Very pricey, but the food and the service is worth the price.
Great atmosphere. However, would have liked to sit outside but tons of loud traffic. Was my husband’s bday and no mention of it from anyone. I marked it on the reservation and even told the girl whom I confirmed it with. Also, I appreciate people being concerned about food allergies, but we’re asked about it 3 times that night...once on confirming the reservations, once by our hostess and then our server. Appetizers and cauliflower soup were amazing and bread was delicious, but main dinner dishes were bland and very disappointing. If we ever go again, my husband and I would only order starters. We ordered the ratatouille and halibut & for the price we paid, definitely not worth it.
My meal was really good but the restaurant was so cold that we were eating with our coats on. No gluten-free friendly. Very high priced for the meal. Not as creative with menu items as I was expecting.
Have generally had good experiences Here but this is the first time I sat upstairs. It was really loud and the service was not as good as it’s been in the past. The rooms are small and they fit a lot of people in there so it’s really hard to hear.
Food was excellent, decor was nice. Sat by some adolescents that were a bit loud.
Dinner was fine, but the food and flavors were forgettable. Music was up distractingly loud. Waitress was very good.
Great find. I'll return. The ambiance was great, the decor fun and interesting, and the hosts terrific. Only complaint is that I was trying to get to know my guest, and the waiter had little sense of when to interrupt, and when to stay away. My guest even commented their displeasure.
Coq au Vin was delicious, as was the Beef Bourguignon! Our friends had the Herbed Cobb salad, which is more of a vegetable plate. They loved it!
Great hopes for this being our new favorite. Baked Brie cold in the middle and no evidence of baked at all. Hard sell on special small 6 or 8 oz filet not sure but very small and crab or shrimp. Picked crab but when it came the crab was small shreds not lump may have been fresh but didn’t taste it however very little crab mixed with a lot of other things that masked the flavor. I should have asked the waiter and he did not offer that the price was 60$. Could have had a half pound of crab legs for $30 . Dessert was fine. Overall way to much $ the special should have been 30-40 at the most. Chef Éric Briffard from cordon blue would have been disappointed and so were we.
Beautiful place!!! Service , food, ambiance...wonderful!!! I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the $25.00 corkage fee for our wine. Way too much!!!
Great food, excellent service! It is a great place for a night out or a special occasion.
Beautiful place and amazing food. I dropped $400 on 4 of us but, to be fair, we enjoyed several glasses of wine and bourbon! And we enjoyed every second of our night. We had outdoor seating which, if weather allows, I would highly recommend!
Overall very nice, but we were very disappointed with EXORBITANT corkage fees - $25 is far higher than those of any comparable restaurant in the area.
Related to this - with a corkage fee of $25, you should at least offer an ice bucket for the wine - customers shouldn’t have to ask for it.
Food delicious and of high quality. Service came and went a smidge; I ordered the filet mignon. I was brought a "special" steak knife in an awesome little box to pick from, yet my sister's dirty salad knife was picked up off plate in hand by Cole and placed back on the table cloth; weird huh? The corkage Fee is way too high, $25; I can get three glasses of wine in most places for that (I think Tuscany charges like $8 or $10). I see the Charleston trying to aim high, which is nice, and some of their top entrees are in the $60-65, with the lower ones at $25-ish and up. To the person picking up the tab that puts you guys in the $50 per cover price range. We dropped $240 with gratuity on a $200 tab; three people. Here is where I am dissatisfied - When in this price range (and I often am), every course gets a new and perfectly clean reset, every dish every time without exception; always kept perfectly clean and appointed. I won't recommend you to a friend, but I may be back for a second chance. Price tag did not meet expectations.
The ambiance, service, and most of all food was spectacular. The attentive staff was also a highlight. Our favorite was the Croissant Bread Pudding. We had to give our compliments to Marco and his staff because it was a wonderful experience!
The food & ambiance were amazing! There are lots of options for everyone. The wine menu needs help & the prices for even low end wines were high. You can bring your own wine, pay a corkage fee & have a perfect meal!
Best food in this state. My wife is a huge foodie originally from Toronto Canada, and this is the first restaurant in town that she said compares to home.
This is a special occasion type of place. Too pricey for a casual date. But the food and service are perfect. It might be worth mentioning the price when communicating the specials so there isn’t sticker shock at the end of the meal when your steak is
My husband and I were excited to celebrate our 3rd Wedding Anniversary at The Charleston. I happen to drive by a few weeks ago and was taken with the magical outdoor setting. The ambiance was wonderful...the fountain, lighting and music were all perfect. The service was less than satisfactory. We sat at our table for almost ten minutes without being said hello to. We had to flag down a bus boy for water. We had to grab the attention of this same bus boy 4 additional times for water refills. Our waiter, once we saw him, seemed extremely overwhelmed with too many tables to tend to. He never made eye contact with either of us but looked at the center of the table when communicating. The Artichoke Soufflé appetizer was quite tasty but does not come with enough crostini to finish the dish. We had to ask for an additional plate of crostini. Some crudites would have been a nice accompaniment. Our main dishes left much to be desired and were overpriced for what we got. My husband ordered one of the evenings specials with steak, crab and asparagus. The butcher job on the steak was less than satisfactory for a restaurant of this caliber including the price. The amount of crab meat should have matched the amount of shrimp on the other evenings special. The desserts on the other hand, are where The Charleston shines! We ordered the Croissant Bread Pudding and the Raspberry Pistachio Tart. Both were absolutely delicious and we ate every bite. Most restaurants fail in the dessert department but The Charleston does it right. The ambiance and the desserts are the highlights of this restaurant, but the service, entrees and value left much to be desired.
We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at The Charleston and were not disappointed. It was a beautiful late afternoon for dinning out side. The staff was very friendly and professional. The food was amazing. This was our first time dining at The Charleston and will return on special occasions.
