The cheeseboard was amazing, the tuna market offering was a healthy filet prepared with local au jous - very delicious.
It was overpriced for what we had. Very Small
Servings and perfectly good but not over the top. 6 of us agreed to this review. Lamb chops way too fatty. Crab cakes good
This was the first time to this restaurant and we went for our anniversary. It was wonderful, both of our dishes were excellent. I have never tried beef Wellington before and this is one of their main dishes, and the tomato jam was fantastic. It was so good, we will definitely come back again.
We really enjoyed it and our server was more than helpful!
Typical hotel breakfast
Server was poor. My old fashion came 5 different ways from the bar. Every time the drink was different.
Fresh lobster: cooked to rubber.
It was our anniversary, but we love the Chalkboard for all occasions, Sunday brunch, group get togethers, etc. The food is always "top notch", we had an excellent experience, great food, low noise, attentive gracious waiter, free champagne for our anniversary!
My wife had beef wellington and I had sea scallops. The quality of the food is some of the best I ever had. The restaurant provided transportation to Tulsa's BOK center, which was a great plus for us.
Mother loved the Beef Wellington, the lobster tail was HUGE and cooked perfectly, and the filet was delicious with the squash puree. We just ate there and can't wait to go back. It was absolutely worth the hefty price tag, but only go if you have a pretty penny to spare.
We had a wonderful dinner, as always... We choose this a special place for us....
We've eaten at Chalkboard many times. After tonight, however, it is unlikely we will return. When my husband asked what vintage the wine was, the waiter smirked "I couldn't tell ya." When we asked for the dessert wine list to order a Sauternes to go with the fois, it was ignored. I flagged down someone else, got the menu, ordered the Sauternes but they brought a Port! We pointed it out and someone came over to tell us that a. they are out of the Sauternes and b. they poured the Port by mistake. Really? Two mishaps? Odd. When I ordered my Prime Rib the waiter said "how do you want it cooked?" My reply: "What does the chef recommend?" He said "Mid." I asked what that meant and he said "there will be a lot of red." I asked "so rare?" He said "No, mid." What the heck did that mean?? So I asked again "will it be medium rare, rare or medium. You are confusing me. I've never heard of a steak cooked mid." The waiter got cocky and said "mid, medium, moderate, you know." Ugh. I said to just cook it as the chef recommends. The whipped potatoes were dense and a smashed potato...not whipped at all. The food was fine, but not special. When the bill came, the real mess started. There was the Sauternes on the bill. We discussed leaving just a 15% tip but we dropped it to zero when the waiter and manager (not sure it was really a manager...dressed in a t-shirt) both started to mouth off at us. The waiter followed us into the hotel lobby to keep being belligerent. The young man who waited on us needs to learn how to respect the customer.
This place is excellent. Always a great meal with the best service and really enjoy the unique menu items!
The staff was amazing and very personable! We felt as if we were dining amongst friends, even though we were on a date! My fiancé is a chef, which makes us obviously huge foodies:), and the entire menu was non stop mouth watering reading material! Their cocktails, some like it vodka has this awesome concoction called shrub in it, were AMAZING. As well as their dessert! I could go on and on about the entire establishment! From the first meet n greet, to the quick room service we got once settled in our room upstairs! A plus, plus, plus infinity!!!!
The bar is a pleasant place to grab a meal. There is a TV but it is not intrusive.
My experience here was just okay. Prices are high for what you get. Made a reservation, and while the restaurant was quite empty, we were sat at a table that was basically placed in the walkway to the kitchen. The experience that followed can be summarized in a short list - water had something floating in it, appetizer that included raw hamburger meat with no seasoning (menu didn’t warn you that it was going to be raw), cheesecake dessert tasted like it was made from box of jello pudding, and we were charged for a cocktail we didn’t order.
Aside from that - the staff was friendly, wine was good, and salad we ordered was pretty good. Overpriced but convenient if you are staying at the hotel. I’ve had better in Tulsa.
Anniversary dinner, the mood was right, the food was right. The server was awesome! This is my go to place for special events! Thank you Chalkboard!
Kevin is a very good attentive waiter. The bruschetta was a special when we were there an it was excellent as well as the Beef Wellington. My friend had the Beef Short Rib and it was also very good. I wish that I lived closer to this restaurant.
Long-standing one of top restaurant in Tulsa
Excellent as always
Great Service and Food...However I wouldn't leverage the table by the back stairs nearest the Kitchen...Too Loud for a Business Conversation.
Great restaurant food and service
Excellent food, service and ambiance.
The food is amazing and the service is outstanding. We have been there twice and this is my wife and mines new favorite date spot.
Kitchen was unbelievably slow. We waited over a half an hour for our food. The wine pours were very small. Very disappointed in it and this is been a long time favorite. We dined there last month also. The kitchen lost our order. They did buy her drinks as compensation. That’s why we returned.
The food was amazing! My wife said it was in the top 5 meals in her life, and that's saying a lot, because we have eaten at some very fine restaurants.
We have always loved Chalkboard and recommended it to out of town friends. This visit, however, was a little disappointing. We understand it was brunch hour and difficult to know about the crowd, but we waited 30 minutes for our food to arrive. Our waitress Kaylee was sweet and came by once to let us know a large party had just put their order in ahead of us, but we had even made reservations for our lunch and it became irritating to wait for our food that long. Food was ok, but not super creative or what we have enjoyed at Chalkboard previously. We are hoping that this was just an anomaly and the kitchen just got slammed at the exact wrong moment for us.
Superb, as always!! My go-to for affordable, delicious Sunday brunch and dinner celebrations.
What a disaster. Arrived early for dinner before a concert. Notified the waiter that we were attending the concert. At the same time another couple was seated next to us but a different waiter. Ours was non-existent, waited to get drinks, order, salad was late and no entrée. The other couple had drinks, appetizers, salads and entrees before we got a salad. By the time we needed to leave for the concert, the other couple had paid and left. We were still with no entrée.
If you have a deadline, such as a concert, do not go to the Chalkboard.
Excellent as usual. Always an interesting menu with something for everyone.
Once again, an amazing time at Chalkboard!
Outstanding food and very professional and courteous service! One of our favorite spots in Tulsa.
We went for Sunday brunch - it had been a few years since we ate here. I've always loved the atmosphere. The food quality was good, but not outstanding. I was disappointed with the service. Only one server plus the owner/manager were working, and they could not have been nicer people - I really liked them - but the actual service was erratic after a few more tables were seated. A place this nice should be on point for serving drinks, taking orders, delivering food, making sure food is satisfactory within a few bites, and checking regularly for empty glasses/refills throughout. Feeling neglected as a customer ruins the experience. I would like to go back and try other dishes if I knew they wouldn't be short-staffed.
Outstanding food and good service! I sat at the bar. Very relaxing.
Wow, what an unexpected and plesent surprise. Housed in the basement of a hotel blocks from Tulsa's nominal downtown, you would not expect much and you'd be wrong. Wife and I had a terrific meal, beef wellington, house specialty, and beef shotr ribs, both terrific. place is small and serivce is intimate. Basement location is peculliar, but they make it work. Worth the trip downtown.
We were in town going to see Blake Shelton and wanted some where close to eat and found this place. At first i thought it was going to be to fancy but turned out to be a great place, loved the food and the atmosphere, the people we're great And very friendly i made our reservation on line 10 min before they opened and got right in. One of the best parts about this place is it offers a trolley that took us back and forth to the concert so we didn't have to fight the crowed looking for a parking spot they dropped us off right by the door and picked us up right after didn't Have to wait long... i highly recommend you try this place out..
Excellent experience. High quality food, excellent presentation, with great service.
This has got to be the best restaurant in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The menu is creative and offers something for any pallet and any taste. The service and preparation is first class. It's a great find for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or just looking for delicious creative cuisine.
Excellent food and service.
I was hoping and expecting a 5-star experience but was disappointed. We found The Chalkboard via Trip Advisor and chose it for its top ratings in Tulsa. We took some friends who were visiting us.
I had the Beef Wellington because it was suggested by our waiter as their most popular dish and what they are known for. The pastry was tough and thin. The pate was not noticeable. The beef was medium rare but not tender. I requested the mashed potatoes be exchanged for roasted small potatoes and butternut squash. They tasted as if they were pre-cooked and then warmed up.
The Caprese salad had a small piece of basil about 1.5 inches long...about 1/3 the basil needed for that size salad. Nothing notable or special.
We had the Espresso Creme Brulee. The top layer was an espresso gel substance instead of the burnt sugar signature texture. The Creme Brulee itself was cold. Our friends tried the bread pudding and it was nothing special.
The service was excellent.
I would not recommend The Chalkboard.
