   Delicious and enjoyable dinner. Authentic German cuisine - loved the Jaeger Schnitzel, Wiener Schnitzel, Rouladen and Cellar Burger. The Cellar Wings and French Onion Bites Appetizers were also awesome. And the piece de resistance of the evening was the amazing apple strudel. Perfect way to end the evening.

   Service was poor. Waited 30 minutes for waiter to take drink order. Food was served warm-cool. Order never placed for one meal. Will not return.

   On holiday weeks the restaurants of Lake Placid have 90 min waits so a person might be wise to avoid a place that is mostly empty as the The Cellar was when we arrived. The second clue we should have picked up on as we sat down was the table next to us arguing with the owner that they sent something back to the kitchen twice and it was still raw. Little did we suspect we would soon be in that position. But what is astounding is not that the kitchen twice didn't cook something through, things happen, what was singular was the owner arguing that we ate most of it --we ate about half, right up to the raw part--and would not take the two undercooked pieces of meat off of the bill. The next thing he is shouting , we are shouting , and then he is actually pushing us out the door. I can still picture him with the piece of meat in his hand shouting like a mad man, which is a rather gross image. All in all , the most bizarre meal we have ever had and I am confident, ever will. If you are reading this you will see other bad reviews , even great restaurants have them, but the owner's responses are what is notable. If he took as much care with his food as with his explanations he too would have a 90 min wait on holiday weekends.

   We were looking forward into trying a new restaurant in Lake Placid since we were there two years ago., and the fact that they advertise it served German food we made reservations for my family. Went down into the into The Celllar was nice until we sat down ...and it was very cold down there you had to eat with your jacket on. Service was bad, my sons finance had the filet mignon and it was suppose to come with polenta which it did not..she told the waitress and she said " are you sure it came with your dinner?" Then she came back your right do you want the chef to make it and you can take it to go? WHAT! no I wanted it with my dinner! Resturant say it serves Germany food.... NO IT doesn't . My husband and Wiener schnitzel.. Where was at least the red cabbage ... no spetzal. Like some other review said it was not even pounded out and they serve it with French fries.. Very bland. I had crab cakes very dry no taste no sauce. My son had ribeye said it was the worst piece of steak he ever had very grissly he could not even eat it.Something positive drinks were good and even though the apple strudel small it was good. I think when we come back to Lake Placid we will pass on eating at the Cellar.

   It would be wrong to describe the Cellar as a German specialty restaurant as their menu has good variety to it, but we went for the german dishes and we were not disappointed. A braised hasenpfeffer was excellent with plenty of meat. My wife described the rouladen as bursting with flavor that kept her mouth tingling in a good way. The restaurant has not been open very long and that is evident from the service. Staff and ownership seem to be feeling their way, but do not let that get in the way of coming to enjoy an excellent meal.

   Food was good but I thought it was overpriced. Lake Placid is a tourist destination and I found almost everything in town was expensive. Service was attentive but only 3 other people were at the restaurant at 7:30pm.

   Creative German food with a twist. Server was friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the menu.

    Food was good and quite creative, but the portions were rather small and the prices quite high.
