The Cellar Door - Frederick
Updated space, more open. Updated menu, great food.
This is the first time visiting this Cellar Door was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and ambiance.
Heard good things from the hotel but was very disappointed in the food, ambience and atmosphere. Not worth the money
Great food and great prices. Enjoyed a night out with family and friends.
The service was great, the food was not the best for what we paid for. The steak was dry, the sea food was ok, and the drinks were good. Dessert was good. Not sure if we’ll go back for a while since we’re going to experiment other restaurants in the area. Overall, not bad.
We attended Comedy Night on Sunday with friends. The comedians were great - each one was so funny but with all comedy shows, this is not for the thin skinned! Food was very good. The waiter and server do great jobs - very hardworking and make good recommendations on the food. We thought the food was great - good selections, variety, tasty and good presentation. We will definitely be back!
The avocado toast and southern boy bene were great. Highly recommend.
Great knowledgeable and attentive service! Drinks and food were excellently prepared!
We will return for sure!
The Appetizers were very good, although the scallops were more of a fall dish. The Chesapeake empanadas were great. The mezcalita was also wonderful.
Great food and service! Got a little loud as the party crowd started to roll in, but would definitely return
The food, atmosphere, personnel, and music was awesome, as usual. The Cellar Door is your go to place for a great evening!
An especially accommodating, personable and gracious service provided by the service staff and chef made this a lovely Easter brunch. The innovative menu we tried was delicious and satisfying including Sweet Potato Pancake accompanied with Sausage Gravy and Fried Chicken, Avocado Toast with Tomatoes, Fried Oysters, Fries and Wings. A good variety of cocktails, wine, beer etc.
We went on Comedy night and it was great fun. The comedians were outstanding.
Loved this place. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. After 10:30, turns into a club, so be ready for that, but that was so fun!
Very good meal. Scallop entree was a bit smaller than expected (3 scallops), but VERY good. It plus the goat cheese appetizer and peanut butter chocolate bread pudding for dessert... I was full and happy. I'll come back.
I expected a little more food on my plate; however, it was very tasty. The wait staff were excellent. The bread pudding was not what we expected, but the brownie was soft and delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed.
Service was very good. This place is noisy and busy, and not good for a quiet meal, but great for being out-on-the-town. Menu is more designed for a quick bit, or a few small plates. The Burger was tasty and the chesapeake chicken was really good. Fair beer selection, but no beer list to read.
The Comedy was great but the place has changed and has lost its originality. The service is also horrible on comedy night so order everything you need before the show starts and be lucky if you get your drinks at all.
The Comedy part of the evening was fantastic. So funny! I’ve been there 3 times in the past year and the only real complaint I have is that there is never enough wait staff. We had to get our drinks at the bar and the bartender was our server. The bar and all the tables were covered by only 2 employees. The experience would be near perfect if there were more servers.
Service was outstanding. We celebrated Valentine's Day there. Waitress Alyssa was attentive, didn't rush us in any way but was there immediately when we had any needs. A very nice romantic restaurant.
Very nice and quaint, very good music and atmosphere
Great ambiance and service.
All of the food was really bland.
I could barely eat my Nashville Chicken. My friend's best quote about it was "I've finally tasted what "nothing" tastes like."
Hostess/waitress friendly and attentive. Newly remodeled atmosphere cool. Cant wait to return to maybe take in some of their live music one evening.
I made reservations for our.girls night out, mom, my sister & I. Upon walking in it was pretty loud didn’t realize it was tavern atmosphere.
Gigi was very pleasant & sweet however did not write our order down & had to return to ask our mom what her side order was, & when I received my Crab Cake Sandwich I requested no bun just crackers. I received a crab cake with a bun & no sauce.
The cream of crab soup was cold & I had to send it back
to get it warmed up.
My sister ordered the Drunken Salmon and it did not arrive until the end of our meal.
Overall it was a disappointing experience and we will not return.
We do appreciate Gigi comping my soup & my sisters dinner however we would have prefer to have hot soup & dinner to be served all together & paid it for dinner.
The food is always great. The night we went the service was pretty slow. It took a while to get our meals
Salmon was good, just small portion. Undercooked veggies, reheated baked potato.
Nice tables, smaller environment helped with sound levels.
Food was amazing. Crabcake dinner entree with asparagus is to die for! Drinks were okay. Restroom needs to be renovated ASAP to match ambiance of main dining room. Overall, dining experience gets a 3.5 star.
Love coming here for Comedy Night on Sundays. Renovation looks great!!
First time there. Staff super friendly and were very welcoming. Service was ok, our waiter was especially nice. He did a great job. Comedy show funny, fun to watch. A little on the raw side but they all were talented and funny. Overall great welcoming attitute with staff and fun place. Definitely would come back and recommend for an interesting fun night out with great food, great staff and funny comedy show. Thanks for offering comedy entertainment locally in Frederick v long drive to D.C etc. Yeah!!! Good time out locally with best burgers too!!!
Very nice place to have a double date with and great place to hang out for good drinks and dinner ...
Food was average, but over-priced for the quality/quantity you received. The service was absolutely terrible. It appeared the server was more interested in talking with the host, than taking care of customers. After we finished our appetizers, our dirty plates were not picked up timely. If the server was checking on us timely, the dirty dishes should have been picked up. We literally had to flag the server down to take the dirty plates, only a couple were picked up, we had to flag the server down again to get the rest. If you are dining, you shouldn't have to ask the server to remove dirty dishes. This should be a standard responsibility of the server to check on customers needs regularly and remove dirty dishes in a timely fashion. Unfortunately we won't be returning to the Cellar Door.
We enjoyed the food. Not the best brunch we've had in Frederick or even that memorable. We were one of two couples in the restaurant at noon on a Sunday. It's always unsettling when you're the only ones in the restaurant, despite that the good was good.
Dark and damp smelling. Picture is very misleading--this is truly a cellar.
It was good but not great food, we had not been and thought it would be a little nicer inside but would be a good go grab a beer and hang out at the bar type place more than sit down restaurant.
Fun time. Comedy night is always fun. Good food.
Comedians where great I would like to find a place like this in my hometown
On a rainy day being in the basement (The Cellar) was not what my wife was happy with, however we had a small 7 person lunch party and the noise level was low, the serviced was fabulous and our food (including my wife's veggie burger) was outstanding...and my wife was happy with my selection!!!!
Decent food, horrible service. It was an hour to get the order and drink glasses never cleared and long gaps of time when the wait staff would check on is. Their excuse was there was a bar party and large catering order but no apology. I noticed that when we walked in the floor was sticky like a college bar which is disgusting for any establishment. This place has an identity crisis, is it a bar, a pub or a restaurant? This was my first time here, won't be back. Now I know why I've never cared to come here.
Great Mothers Day Dinner! Service was good, food was good...
Went for a girl's night out and comedy show. Appetizers and cocktails were very good. I had the signature burger, locally sourced, and it was awesome!
Service was friendly and attentive.
Comedy show was great! Will return!
