It was my friends 30th bday and her engagement the the whole staff made her feel so so special! I love the Cecil!
Food and ambiance is good however, every time I've gone they've messed up my order and the service is pretty slow. Will mostly likely go back at some point because I like the energy but I know what I'm getting...
Boyfriend birthday! Had a lovely date .. ambience was great and he enjoyed himself too . We had a great time.
Overall a wonderful, pleasant experience from the hostess, waiter & bartender
Took my mom here for a nice dinner after a concert. Really nice atmosphere and super friendly staff! The food was sooo good and definitely worth every penny. It did start getting loud in there later towards the evening so if you’re looking for a little turn up while you dine this is the place to be. The DJ was playing ALL the jams.
This place is amazing. Great spot to dress up, eat great, and listen to dope music. Definitely a great spot if you love r&b and hip hop.
This restaurant was recommended as a great place for brunch. It wasn't busy when we arrived for brunch on Sunday. We ordered and we waited and waited and waited for our food. Server informed us 'he just checked and our food would be out in a minute'. 15 minutes later our food arrived...lukewarm. Music was all over the place literally. We were seated in front of the dj booth. One minute the speakers were playing and one/two songs later the sound was so distant it could have been coming from the kitchen. I brought guests from out of town and I raved about this place. So embarrassing...
I went for Sunday brunch, apparently there is a $20 different in price between Saturday and Sunday brunch. They did not make that clear and they presented the Saturday menu. Sunday is on the back so that’s what they should have presented.
I enjoyed celebrating my bday here. Everything was on point from the food to the DJ. Will be return 👍🏼
Food was very good. Appetizers were excellent. Drinks very good as well. Service and background noise was very chaotic and disruptive for a steakhouse. If you have a great product, then the focus should be on the delivering great service and not on unnecessary cacophony. Probably would go back for brunch and not dinner.
Everyone was kind but nothing went right. They tried to fix the mistakes but the hole was too deep.
There was an event going on and the host made sure my date was satisfied with her seating even after the third move. Francisco our server was attentive and our steak and shrimp came out on point.
one of my favorite restaurants. the ambiance is amazing and the food is even better
My hubby and I came to celebrate my birthday and we were given the recommendation by relatives. the food, music and ambience exceeded my expectations and we will definitely be back some time soon.
Fabulous I would highly recommend it here the service was outstanding the food was delicious everything was unreal
Fun boozy brunch
We had a very nice time. The food was great and the service was excellent!! The music was way too loud for for my taste. It Didn’t seem appropriate for people who were just there to have dinner. Overall Cecils was nice and I would go back but maybe a little earlier in the day.
Cecil’s Steakhouse was amazing. The food was great and so was the staff. The manager I believe his name was Victor came to our table and greeted us and even chatted with us for a bit and shared jokes. The bottle of rum punch was also delicious!!!! They definitely made my birthday great with my friends!!
Had a business meeting at Cecil's on Tuesday. Absolutely loved every aspect of the restaurant. Food was great, service - the best and the ambiance makes Cecil's a must go to place.
I’ve been a patron at the Cecil Steakhouse many times before. So I was initially confident that my experience with my guest would be great. Staff was courteous all the way thru. But, after being seated it took abt 45 minutes for not only our order to come out, but most of the restaurant. We were told that because of a party in the back room all other orders were ‘backed up’. To appease us we were offered a round of drinks and some bread. Orders finally arrived, two of us ordered the bronzini. To our surprise and disappointment we received a tiny sliver of a fillet instead of the traditional whole fish. In the end the courtesy drinks were added to our bill, then removed, and my credit card was misplaced, eventually found. I believe in trying to cater to a younger crowd, that some of the charm and exquisite service may be sacrificed. My out of town guest have said they would not recommend this restaurant. Shame.
There was hair in my food but other then that everything was great. Good food, great music, service was great. Good place to go
Nice room , very colorful art, loud music on low quality speakers was a nuisance. A diverse menu , serving steak, seafood , pasta, could be soul food, could be Latin and this one thing is certain , Cecil did not master any of its dishes. Not a steak house.
Steak was over cooked, management wasn’t accommodating. Nothing like how the Cecil use to be, i won’t be back!
The ambiance in the space was nice for a Saturday brunch. However, the food arrived luke warm and was honestly sub-par. Also, the server was very pleasant but it appears as though she needed an extra set of hands to manage the tables.
Overall experience 6.5/10
I would like to suggest during dinner that you should be able to have a conversation while eating.
I LOVE MUSIC! However, the music was way way TOOO LOUD ! You could barely here the wait staff let alone have a conversation
My wife and I went (finally) to the Cecil, celebrating my birthday a week late after my being gone on a business trip. There was a note on the reservation asking for a quiet table and mentioning my birthday. We were greeted by a hostess in a cheerleader outfit (5 days before Halloween!) who asked us to wait 10 minutes for our reservation at the bar. No transfers from the bar to the check at the table. Not a problem, but not very guest friendly. We were sat at a two top closest to the bar directly under a loud speaker. Our waitress was dressed as the Bugs Bunny from Space Jam. There was no mention of our birthday celebration anytime in the evening. Also, we received our entrées without receiving our salad course (which we canceled subsequently). Steak was chewy due to the cut, but borderline inedible due to the quality.
I didn’t find this place to be a “polished” environment for the prices, but rather a very fun, up-tempo bar and lounge – that serves food, with a great community vibe! This restaurant group is great creating a community following, ie- Corner Social.
Unfortunately due to the service, food quality, execution, and loose ambience - the establishment doesn’t live up to the marketing of it being a refined evening in a historical Harlem establishment.
It was my first visiting this place and it was very nice. The service was outstanding, the host was really accommodating and pleasant. The waiter was really nice and friendly. They gave us a complimentary bottle of sangria because it was my husbands birthday, which I thought was a nice gesture. The food is excellent, I am vegan so I was pleasantly surprised they had a few vegan choices. Overall we an awesome time and will certainly come back.
She loved it! Definitely will come back again
Went for a friend’s birthday and I wish we planned going there in the first place. We got a free Sangria bottle and the food was amazingg! Our waitress was nice and accomodating. My lamb chops, plantain, and calamari was amazing. The afrobeats music and vibe was well needed and not expected. Highly recommend!!
This is an outstanding find near our home on the UWS. So happy to have come across it in the listing of opentable.
The music was extremely loud. I was unable to talk to my cousins without yelling across the table because the DJ’s music level was extremely loud at 7pm. We were unable to hear the waiter and requested to me moved. The volume remained far too loud so me and my cousins left for another restaurant with a more mature dining environment. I have visited The Cecil several times and I have celebrated several occasions here because of the ambiance and great food, however I am no longer a fan and will no longer visit or recommend The Cecil to family, friends and work colleagues.
Great experience and great food!
Great food and ambiance. Kind of noisy. There was a benefit dinner which we were not a part of. Singer was lovely but impeded conversation.
I didn’t get offered the happy hour as requested on my reservation. No one mentioned it to me.
The decor is very nice, the food was very good, the service was slow, but I’m going to say that once the bar area gets crowded things slow down. Our waiter was very attentive and did his very best to get things moving quickly when he could. Overall, I would definitely go back and recommend
Lovely and delicious
The sound was too louder that I couldn´t enjoy the meal. Cecil must define what they want to be, a good steakhouse or a louder bar.
Needs a lot of work. Only3 of us there and the place was relatively empty however we were all missing items that we ordered. We got a bottle of Sparkling water and the waiter poured tap into my existing sparkling water and then proceeded to pour me the remainder of my sparkling into my glass but not refilling the sparkling that he ruined.
Music was too loud couldn't even speak to the people in my own group. Food was trashed, no seasoning, no flavor. Aunt ordered steak and eggs and was given a butter knife to cut the steak. All in all a really bad experience and I thought to call AMEX to get my money back but I'd rather just write this review and hopefully, others will know not to go there whatsoever. What a waste of good space.
Great Restaurant. Music became to loud was hard to have conversation.
Good food let down by horrid service. Really felt unwelcome by staff here. The food though was very nice and good value.
