The Cecil Steakhouse
The Cecil Steakhouse is a modern, upscale haven in Harlem. It is about fully engaging the five senses. You will be in our warm dining room that houses a modern décor of paintings and sculptures.
After dinner and upon reservation you can be brought over to Minton’s Playhouse in a fashion that can only be described as a Goodfellas Moment straight out of the Martin Scorsese movie. To get to Minton’s from The Cecil Steakhouse, you never have to step a foot outside. You will be going through our kitchen, through a privileged area, reserved for those who want the full Cecil and Minton’s experience. As you are guided through the bustle of the kitchen, you will be transported to the most iconic and oldest jazz club in the United States.
We had a great time. The music was perfect. Best day ever and the performance was awesome. I had a great time on stage :). My booty did all of the shaking lol. Thank you all.
This is a lively place to socialize with your friends and/or family. Upbeat, welcoming and fun. The DJ is excellent - the volume of the music is a bit high - not a place to eat if you need to have a quiet conversation. Enjoyed immensely. We had a table of 8 people and each individual is a food critic and really enjoyed the seafood, steak, lamb, chicken and other dishes. We will definitely return!
Great neighborhood gem. I enjoy the live entertainment and the good food!
Great staff, food music and crowd. My favorite go to restaurant
I was there for brunch and was surprised with the type of background music that was played. I like Hip Hop but for a business establishment I would expect the music to not have explicit language.
They made my day so special unexpectedly. Waiter was a little on the rush side, but service what impeccable.
Gave The Cecil another chance and they delivered! Great time with friends celebrating a promotion! Good food, music and drinks.
Variety of food options. Friendly staff. Great music provided by DJ. Convenient safe location
We arrived on time for our reservation and there were NO tables. The hostess literally walked out on us instead of getting the manager for us. We asked several people for manager and the manager never came to see us. The service was extremely poor.
It was a wonderful birthday dinner for me, and we really enjoyed how close it was to the train station and Minton’s Playhouse. The steak was AMAZING, would recommend.
I def overpaid, but the ambience was nice, so maybe not haha. Service was perfect. If I needed something only took one minute to get it and very easy to get waiter's attention.
Food excellent 👌 service great love this place i would come back again.
The entire experience was great. The food was very tasty. Thevstaff was professional. The only thing or things that may be a negative was, for the prices, some type if bread should have been included and during reservation, it was asked of the occasion. It was my wife's birthday and our anniversary. I thought it would be mentioned. Also, on the final bill, 20% gratuity was placed on bill and then another gratuity request was requested on receipt. I understand automatic gratuity on bill if large crowds. But there was only two of us. We arrived at 6 and was done by 7. I normally tip by performance of my wait staff. And its normally at least 20%. But to sneak is questionable.
They didn't accept my Groupon despite the fact that it stated the value of the Groupon at their restaurant and that it had no expiration date. If you eat here, do not expect them to accept your Groupon.
Great food and drinks! Excellent staff.
It’s a fun place for brunch but unfortunately, the food was a huge miss. I ordered the Steak and Eggs with a side of Mac&Cheese. Steak came out cold, mac&cheese actually had NO seasoning (just milk, cheese and noodles). One of my friend’s ordered the Chicken & Waffles, which looked and tasted like chicken from a TV dinner and my other friend ordered the Shrimp and Grits….wasn’t good at all. Sigh, maybe brunch isn’t The Cecil’s thing.
Pre-pandemic, I enjoyed going to the Cecil. The ownership must’ve changed because it was a completely different vibe in there. Did a solo dinner and it took 15 minutes for someone to be assigned to me. I had to ask multiple times. To see 20% gratuity already attached to bill was annoying because the experience wasn’t worth it. Plus their menu items are overpriced for subpar food. I’m good on going back, which is unfortunate.
I had an absolutely wonderful birthday dinner. Food was delicious and Bri our server was very good!!!!
Great experience, food service and overall ambiance excellent made a night to remember
Great environment, neat, clean, upbeat energy, good music (live & DJ) as well respectful spacing among patrons. Nice dance floor & hospitality
Such a fun place! Great music and entertainment!
This was my 3rd visit to the Cecil Steakhouse and I have enjoyed every one of my visits. Each time I've gone with a group of six to eight people and each and every one had a great time.
The food was excellent, dessert was disappointing. We were forced to eat outside because the music was extremely loud which would now allow a couple to have a conversation. We would have preferred to eat inside. Everyone was very polite, but the music was more for a club setting than a date setting.
I can't recommend if its for a date or anniversary. I can recommend for a birthday or a hang out.
I went for my niece 18th birthday and we had a great night. Especially loved the salsa band, they were great.
Everything was perfect. Our waiter Shawn was the BEST!!!!
It was my birthday. It was amazing. That crab cake my God
Food was excellent and the drinks were strong but still tasty
Music to loud for the inside need options for vegans
Mom&daughter brunch! Great times
actually not too bad of a experience until I checked my credit card . I was charged twice $175 for my dinner then an additional $275 for no reason . I’m livid Do better Cecil. Be careful using your cards in there. Best experience will be a cash only experience.
It’s DEFINITELY a lit brunch spot! I think ppl are starting to frequent here like the do Angel of Harlem and to me, The Cecil is so much better! There’s a lot more space to dance around and watch ppl dance around. The food is good but the time spent there is so much better. Never had a bad time with the staff either . If you come between 12-2, it’s more laid back but any time after that, it’s LIT!
We have been to Cecil's several times. Great service, food and menu. This time much too loud. My wife and I couldn't hear each other speak.
Wonderful hospitality and food, has a real neighbourhood feel. Will go back again soon especially if we can hit up a show at Minton’s next-door.
I was really looking forward to my date there. (I chose this place). I'm not sure if it was the time we were there, but let's just say, its nothing to talk about. The food in my opinion was way overpriced for the amount you. And it tasted just alright. Nothing to brag about. My drink however, was really good. I was very disappointed in the whole experience. I'm not in a hurry to visit there any time soon. P.S. my waiter, cant remember his name, was pleasant.
THE BEST MUSIC!!! It’s honestly a great brunch spot!
The food was poor and expensive. I paid $40 for about 6 ounces of skirtsteak over microgreens. The dressing was a disgusting watery mix with feta cheese. It had what appeared to be canned peaches that were patently stale. I found a hair on my salad so had to return it. We didn't order any drinks nor apps yet the bill came out to $40 per preson. The service was sloooow even as they were really nice. This is truly not worth it. We couldn't carry a conversation and don't even think about bringing your kids. Mine was screaming asking to get out of there.
This brunch scene is more like a club. It's really loud and people are dancing. There were a lot of birthday celebrations and that seems like a good fit for what they offer. I say have breakfast at home and go have some mimosas with friends for a loud Saturday morning party. Don't bother with the food it's not good and it's really expensive for what you get.
The food, service, ambiance, and music was amazing. My husband and I are definitely going back for another date night soon.
The appetizer options were limited and entre wasn't anything special. Pork chops a little dry. Cocktail and dessert was delicious. Received a lot of attention from the staff... great service.
Everything about this place is awesome! The server I had is amazing. The food is good. The atmosphere is so energetic and fun. They definitely gained a new client!
This was a great date with my Husband. The ambiance and food was fabulous.
