The food is not a match to the old menu. We waited for coffee and water for a long time. The hostess and the bartender saved the day

I had a late reservation and was asked to order promptly as the kitchen was near closing. My side dishes were cold so I had to send my food back. Overall I would attend this location again but I would definitely try an early evening reservation as opposed to the 9:30pm one that I had. The food was good enough to give it another try

The food and service were excellent. It does tend to get a bit loud during peak times so if you want to have a quiet conversation, go off hours.

We had a wonderful time. Very happy the Restaurant is back! However, would have nice if bread/rolls were served. The food portion size could have been a little larger.

Maybe we hit a bad day, but I was disappointed. Venue is amazing. Enjoyed the bossanova twist on some classic songs on the excellent sound system. Interesting wall murals and artwork. Great vibe. Food was adequate to good. Service was the failure. Service staff was friendly but obviously poorly trained. Manager, cast from a Robert Palmer video, seemed more interested in a promotional video they were filming then ensuring tables were served. The restaurant was only half filled for Sunday brunch in early afternoon, and we waited 20 minutes for a drink, and watched as a table of older women walked out. A little quality control from management and it could really be great.

We loved the old Cecil so were particularly disappointed at our experience. Staff was very pleasant but the kitchen didn't get our order out until some thirty minutes later despite our being the only table there. Food was served cold and was less than inspired. One dish had to be sent back because there was a hair embedded in the omelet. I understand that this was the first brunch served by the new management so we can hope it improves. We won't be returning until we see a slew of positive reviews.

Wonderful! I've been wanting to try the Cecil for ages, and it did not disappoint. I took a friend who was visiting from the UK. The service was gorgeous, perhaps we were lucky but the vibe in general seemed friendly. The food was all exceptional. Really fun fusion of such a variety of African and Asian flavors. I'd definitely come back. Don't hesitate!

Disappointing! We were greeted an welcomed warmly. Our server was gracious and attentive as with her support team. Now the food. The appetizer jumbo shrimp was delicious looking but extremely dry. Our main meals of Gumbo, pork chop and fried chicken were also were presented well and looked very appetizing. The Chop and Chicken were very dry possibly over cooked. The gumbo was lacking in flavor. A very good friend of ours recommended Cecil and swears by it. We'll just to try again with him with us.

Tasty asian-african-fusion kitchen. It's not cheap but you get high quality for your money. Service is great.
As a couple we shared five starters, because we wanted to taste as much as we can and it was worth it. For dessert we had Baked Alaska: Yummy!

Great find in Harlem, oozing with elegance! The collard green salad was excellent and the mac and cheese some of the best I've had! The Oxtail dumplings, which received raves, came out cold and had to be sent back. While good, not as good as the mac and cheese. The waitress was friendly and accommodating and suggested the fantastic Pumpkin n tart to complete this wonderful Christmas Eve meal! Will definitely return.

The Cecil was excellent. Attentive though not intrusive service, by which I mean my girlfriend and I were talking and not looking at the menu, but when we did the server came over and was on point. Gave us specials, took our order-friendly and professional. My girlfriend had the fish catch with parsnips-excellent- and I had the beef ribs. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone and the black eyed peas were delicious. They had some teriyaki styled fried okra that just made the whole dish. Went to the bar for an after dinner drink. Disappointed they had no port, but they had a good Sauternes that worked. Great food and vibe.

As a Harlemite, i'm absolutely kicking myself for not having visited sooner. I read the raves at first opening but was still a bit skeptic. The "fusion " was far more folksy and accessible than i'd anticipated and was just what I wanted: familiar comforting, sumptuous brunch faves in a cozy setting. Elegant, no pretense. Warm as can be. Defiitely returning...telling everyone...singing praises.

We came here for a great dinner and then went to watch a show at mintons afterwards. Spent about $150 for 2 people but that's with appetizer, bottle of wine, entrees and a desert. We recommend this place any day!

Walked into a surprising space, with a great ambience and a salute to its roots.

But, the story of the space and its history is lost. They need to make sure every diner knows about the history of the location, it community service outreach, etc. Market the story!!

But the rumor it, its closing so get there soon or an experience is going to be missed!!

The Cecil has a spacious bar entrance and would be a good spot to meet for a drink. The dining room is quite large with a good ambiance - tables are individually lit by overhead spots. Unfortunately the night we went we were seated at a table directly inside the dining room, near the entrance and the light above our table had a broken bulb. We couldn't see our food as we were eating and I felt like we were a bit out on the fringe of the room. I wish we had asked to sit somewhere else but I missed the opportunity. We arrived a short while before our friends and were asked to wait in the bar. I found this a bit unwelcoming and would have liked to get comfortable at the table and review the menu before they arrived. By the time our drinks were ready in the bar area, our friends had arrived and the waitress kindly transferred them to our table for us as we were seated. The food was nice and I would eat here again but overall I felt they could have done more to be welcoming and, rather than us having to ask, maybe the service staff could have used their initiative to move us once we all realized the lighting was not working.
