About The Cavalier
The Cavalier is an all-day London-inspired brasserie, located adjacent to Hotel Zetta.
This is the third property for restaurateurs Anna Weinberg, James Nicholas and Executive Chef Jennifer Puccio - the same team behind Marlowe and Park Tavern. Award winning San Francisco designer, Ken Fulk, revamped the interior with deep leather banquettes, polished brass, zinc and white marble, lending a posh and sultry feel.

Parking is also available at the Fifth and Mission - Yerba Buena Garage; located at 833 Mission Street. The garage is accessible from Mission Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets, as well as from Minna Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets.

Food was served cold. Fish and chips had no flavor. I tried to order the lamb but they told me it would not be available for another hour and a half (I tried to order about 615pm). Brussels sprouts appetizer and pumpkin soup were tasty. Cocktails were dull.
Ambiance is really nice except for the metal chairs we sat on which are cold and hard.
Service was prompt in the beginning but then dropped off and entres took forever.
My daughter and I always grab reservations here when traveling to SF. We love seating up at the beautiful bar for dinner or snacks and for their great selection of wines by the glass.The bartenders are fabulous and provide great quick service. The brussel sprout chips are fantastic. Another great plus is the location - it's close to the Westfield Center.
We have been there 3 or 4 times in the past We booked for lunch. Didn’t know that they only have a brunch menu on a Saturday. Not what we were planning on, so went somewhere else for lunch. Had drinks there and the waitress was very nice even though we didn’t order lunch
Although The Cavalier is not situated in a scenic area, the moment you enter the doors you know you’re going to experience fine dining. The staff were friendly in a genuine manner. They were attentive but not constantly hovering. Dishes were brought and taken away with grace and precision. I was well pleased with the overall attitude and interaction with each staff member. The decor fits the English style hunting lodge but with simplicity that made for a calming yet lively atmosphere. My party and I ate the Thanksgiving dinner, and it was an absolute sensation. Delicious, fresh, and creative dishes that made for a wonderful meal.
The food was less than mediocre and especially the wine service was terrible considering the place. The sound level was insane. It's a shame because the place itself is very nice (similar to Park Tavern, from the same group) and conveniently located after a show at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. A total disappointment. Overrated and overpriced.
Very noisy and a few misses - steak tartare was just OK, bathrooms were a disaster (to be fair the Hotel Zetta should be responsible for their upkeep), and espresso not as hot as I like. BUT - quail egg amazing, Panna Cotta with rubarb delightful and the service is hands down some of the best in SF.
It took a half hour to get our bottles os champage. We were are party of 12. We ordered food and after an hour of waiting inquired. We were told we never ordered it by the same girl who took our order. The music would blare and then abruptly stop mid song. Super cool decor but all else was a thumbs down.
While the waitress was a pleasure and tried to make things right it was really a calamity of errors all around. Truly disappointing. The table was in the back and it was a large round in the middle of the back room just outside the kitchen and bathrooms. The room was really cold and the seats were freezing metal. The volume made it hard to be heard across the table. While the cider I ordered was having the tap changed she brought me another while I wait. It was a nice gesture but when the cider was never going to be available she just brought me another of the same substitute without giving me the choice to select something else. There are five in our family and the waitress thought my three sons were going to share a burger. That is insane. So only one arrived and we had to wait for the other two to come late. None of us were able to eat together. This was a special occasion and that was the most upsetting. Then a couple desserts showed up while my youngest was just getting to his burger and only two deserts for the table of five. So ready or not ice cream would melt or the burger would go cold. Burgers ordered medium well all came red rare. The special request that one son made for his burger came one all three? It really was one error after the other. The days of throwing deserts we never wanted at the table that has had such errors are over . In less than an hour we were back out the door. Thanks for the $250 and oops sorry. Pity I can hardly remember what was right since it was over shadowed by so many errors
We were there during Dreamforce, which is always an intense time for restaurants. We used opentable to book tables, but weren't sat until 20 min after the reservation time. The food and drink was FANTASTIC, so I would recommend this for a good meal if you aren't on a schedule.
I loved everything about it except the metal seats were very cold on my butt and our table was situated in the middle with not enough room for the servers to quite get through so they bumped me probably 8 times total. I am a small person, there just wasn't enough room in between tables.
Food was great. Service was great. We were running late for a reservation and called to let them know. They said no problem and they would hold the table for us.
Only negatives (IMHO) were it was a little on the noisy side (but it was packed probably due to the Salesforce Conference being in town), and somewhat cold inside.
I had the Cavalier salad and the ribeye. Both were excellent. Will definitely go back.
Delicious food for reasonable price.
I had dinner here with a friend.
We had crispy brussels sprouts, beef tartar and bone marrow as starters to share.
After that, my friend had a soup and I had the lamb shack.
All of them absolutely delicious.
My friend was really full after the starters and couldn't finish her soup.
The waitress was very friendly and boxed up the left overs for her to take home.
I really like the interior and the place, it has a great ambiance but not too packed which keeps the noise level not too loud.
I will recommend this place to friends and definitely come back, I will also try brunch here.
Well it is downtown San Francisco so expensive is normal and it seemed to have a millennial vibe, so noisy is normal. But this restaurant (in Hotel Zetta) did not meet the expectations I had. The supposed celebrity chefs and supposedly amazing food got a lot of pump inside the hotel. The food was very ordinary, and for the price ($24) of simple fish and chips very disappointing. I would not ordinarily order fish and chips in a nice restaurant, but the buzz about theirs was enough to overlook other options and give it a go. Kind of soggy french fries buried under three light, mild tasting, wedges of likely panko coated fried fish. Something like mild mayo was served in place of the usual tartar sauce. Why not some wasabi kick, or another or flavor note? I didn't get the hype. I would not go again. Maybe this is not fair since i had only one dish, but certainly this one did not deserve the acclaim they gave it.
This place is outstanding in every way. From the food (utterly amazing, with such thoughtful details) to the service (warm and attentive without being overbearing) to the host (kind and friendly) to the air of days gone by elegance while somehow managing not to be pretentious, we were delighted. I am especially thrilled to experience the superb creation of a woman head chef, and a woman part owner. SO nice to see women finding opportunities to shine and lead in this field. A+
Visited the Cavalier to top off a day of shopping in SF. A fan of Marlowe, their sister restaurant, I was excited to try this location. Food is very good, and the service was exemplary. We were the among the first to arrive for the evening, so the scene was quiet, but I understand that it gets lively in the evening. A definite recommendation if you are near Westfield in SF and are looking to get something above and beyond the food court!
