The Cavalier is an all-day London-inspired brasserie, located adjacent to Hotel Zetta.
This is the third property for restaurateurs Anna Weinberg, James Nicholas and Executive Chef Jennifer Puccio - the same team behind Marlowe and Park Tavern. Award winning San Francisco designer, Ken Fulk, revamped the interior with deep leather banquettes, polished brass, zinc and white marble, lending a posh and sultry feel.

I would recommend the Cavalier but NOT for brunch. The scotch duck eggs were not cooked long enough and were barely warm. my eggs were to be over medium but were fried hard. the dinner I have had there before was delicious and cooked properly. So I will return but only for lunch or dinner.

Very interesting place. Great pictures and mounted game on the walls. Cauliflower soup was great along with Coronation chicken and smoked salmon tea sandwich.

The service was fantastic! We didn't have much time and they rushed everything to allow us to make our event. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. Get the crispy Brussels sprouts!

I ordered Withers Rose which is likened to a French Bandol, but I'd say earthier & more robust. I had smoked salmon on avocado toast which was tasty but almost impossible to cut the crust even with a steak knife. They need to resolve that issue, otherwise very enjoyable.

I have been in this restaurant couple of time and the food didn't seem this awful in the past. Or maybe I was more into the ambiance than the quality of food. The food was all about sauces. the scallop was merged into heavy thick greasy sauce. The chicken was overcooked and not juicy at all. Everything is so non-healthy. The restaurant is so dark that you can hardly see your food so your sense of vision is out! Would probably go the only for their cocktails.

We recently relocated to the Bay Area and reside in the East Bay. In our previous homes we have always made it a point to go into the closest city for a date night. We take public transportation into the city make a reservation on the way in and then enjoy our evening out. From the Yelp reviews the Cavalier looked like a cool place and when we entered it certainly was. We were seated at a great table. Our drinks were well made and reasonably priced. The food was okay. The ambiance and decor are really cool and the location is close to public transit as well as some nearby bars and lounges.

I enjoy the Cavalier, especially for meetings during conference time. It's a little tucked out of the way so it doesn't get as busy as other places, and the atmosphere, service, and food are all excellent.

This was my first time here. I thoroughly enjoyed this place. I don't eat pork or shellfish, but was able to find items on the menu to accommodate my preferences. The portions are reasonable - neither too big or too small; the plating was nicely done; and the black cod I ordered was extremely flavorful. My dinner companion was also extremely pleased with her meal. Our waiter was also extremely friendly and accommodating, which made a wonderful dining experience. I see why this place rates such high marks.

The food is on the salty side but I think the creativity compensates. Music is a bit too loud for the dining side. It was hard for even two people to carry out a decent conversation without constantly shouting. Overall it is a special place and worth a visit.

Although the ambiance is very pretty, dinner did not meet our expectations. Service was poor. Our waitress was aloof, lacked menu knowledge & forgot multiple items that we had ordered. A second round of drinks wasn’t offered. The room was very loud, to the point where I couldn’t hear my friend across a small 4 person table. A disappointing and overpriced birthday dinner.

Received an overcooked flank steak when I ordered the ribeye. I sent the following review as private message to management over one week ago and never received a response:
This was my third visit to Cavalier and last. My guest and I were seated in the small out cove with one large and loud party and another smaller party. The large party was fully attended to while we waited 10 minutes to be greeted my our server; however, we did receive water. The large party was so loud that we could not hear each other speak and we chose the Cavalier because of the quite environment. We asked the host to relocate us after she relocated another table because of the noise. She did so graciously and was very apologetic. Our new waiter was also apologetic as well as attentive. I ordered the Ribeye potpie (MR) and my guest, the roast chicken. The cut I received was not even close to a ribeye, rather a flank steak. It was tough, fibrous and had little marbling in addition to being over cooked and poorly seasoned. The chicken was also overcooked and dry. I took a photo of the cut of meat as it was clearly the wrong cut. I was very let down by my experience. There was a clear lack of continuity as the front of house staff was above average while the kitchen was a complete failure. I am writing this a private message in hopes you can address these issues and improve.

The service was excellent. But food was mediocre, my rib-eye steak was cold, tasteless. It was medium-rare (close to rare end), but burned on both sides at the same time.
We have birthday celebration next to us, so it defiantly was not quite place.

My family and I had a fantastic dinner here and are still raving about the food days later! We were greeted with such hospitality and felt taken care in every step of our experience. Our waiter, Sean I believe, was charming and had great recommendations - such as the incredible Lamb Shank, Scotch Egg and Cavalier Salad (Truffle dressing and goat cheese- heaven!). Cool cocktails and warm ambiance! Our new favorite spot!

An exceptional option for splurge breakfast/brunch: hearty portions, top notch professional service with a smile, and attention to detail on the ingredients. The Marlowe burger stands up to its reputation as did the triple cooked fries. English breakfast is a paleo's feast.

Great food and service. For some reason the music in the bar was incrediblely loud at 8:30 in the evening though. People would have to shout to have conversations and it was not crowded enough to warrant a late night packed bar/loud music atmosphere.

When the bartender forgot to make our drinks and we had already finished our appetizers our server was mortified. They not only gave us free drinks, they bought dessert for us! Our server was amazing. Loved it.
