Waiter very nice but not always there. Might have been because restaurant not busy
Four of us dined on a Saturday Night (8 PM) at CB&K. I had reservations, and when i asked for a booth they balked that they were reserved. A little coaxing produced a nice booth.
Appetizers were good, especially enjoyed the pork buns and killer brussel sprouts. The Vegan pad thai entree was just okay but the steak frites was excellent. Nice drinks and our waitress Anna was great and made it a really nice out.
While the place has a nice buzz it like so many other places gets really quiet after 9 PM and is basically done by 11. All in all a very nice place to go with good food and good drinks (even though they have a very weak selection of Bourbon) and a good vibe until 930 anyway.
Food was delicious. Bar service is very slow. Service in general was friendly and somewhat attentive.
This is my new favorite Restaurant.
After just one visit, you can understand that the owners (husband Chef and wife) love what they do.
Food is a feast of the palate, innovative and very exciting.
Staff is well trained, friendly and knowledgeable, they have their own Pastry Chef and he does not disappoint.
I highly recommend it.
Definitely a nice place to go on a date. The wine selection is awesome, and the service is good.
Every dish we had was very good (except dessert, which was mediocre), but portion sizes were surprisingly small. Hostess and manager were very friendly and helpful, but our waitress was inattentive and clearly not interested in serving us. When asked a question about an ingredient in a dish, she actually gave a wrong answer instead of checking with the kitchen.
Good food, excellent service, noisy up front, quieter in the back. All good.
Very nice place and the food was delicious.
Unfortunately our server had no interests in serving us. I made reservations through open table for my best friend and I. 2 women in our mid 30s who live in South Orange. When we arrived at our table we ordered 2 drinks and 4 appetizers. We later ordered main courses and dessert.
Our server kept disappearing on us and was very short. So much so the woman who was busing the tables and another server (named Jason) who were both extremely pleasant helped us on two occasions. I thought maybe our server was just having a bad day but my friend observed her smiling and being very attentive to her other tables. I then noticed it too. She never even smiled at us.
We were 2 pleasant women excited to try a new place in town, we never complained about the food, didn't have any questions and ordered several dishes. At the end she dropped the bill on our table, said "thank you" and abruptly walked away. Our server never even fully stopped at the table, she literally dropped the bill on our table. It was not a pleasant experience.
We still tipped her 18% because we are just that type of people. But I don't know if I can return after the way I was treated. My friend loved the food and although she was not happy with the way the server made us feel (unwelcome) she would return and just ask for a different server.
I'm just not sure if I will return no matter how great the food. Please see the food we ordered on the receipt attached to my review.
Great ambiance, delicious apps and cocktails. Perfect for a date night. But also looked good for casual drinks with friends.
We particularly enjoyed the Ryan Hernandez jazz trio. What a treat to have great live jazz music during our brunch !
Food is consistently good. Good seasoning and interesting, yet tasty, offerings. Cocktails excellent too. Service friendly and efficient.
Fish dish was bland and overpriced. Carry out order for a kid took forever, and then when we got home we realized they forgot an order of fries. Bland food and bad service make for not a great meal.
As usual the food was fine. But the service was awful. We have never been there where we have not waited 20-30 minutes between courses. They are understaffed and the kitchen is lost in the weeds. This time 2 of our 6 entrees were wrong and had to be sent back. If it wasn’t one of the few places in town with a liquor license we would not go back.
Love the menu
Love the drinks
Service was terrific
All great stuff!
Great service and interesting dishes in a lovely, comfortable setting. Nice wine selection. Enjoyed the whole experience.
The Cassidy is the best restaurant in Maplewood. The menu changes seasonally and the cocktails are masterpieces. Each is carefully crafted. Dangerously delicious!
We always have a great time here. The service is friendly and knowledgeable, the cocktails are interesting and well-made, food is great, and desserts are homemade and never too filling.
Food and dining experience was excellent. Bao Buns and Hanger Steak were exceptional. Branzino was good, but took too much work as it was not filleted....severing the head did help. Will be back
Great new restaurant/bar. We went on a Saturday afternoon it was quiet but busy. Crab cake with eggs was very delicious and great drinks of Prosecco and Cointreau and cranberry. We will return.
We heard that it’s very busy and very noisy on Saturday nights. Was great on a Saturday afternoon.
This was our first time at this establishment which was very busy on a Saturday night, with a good vibe, moderate noise. Tables was spaced well apart which is unusual but welcome.
Menu is varied, something for everyone including vegetarians. Lots of choices in small plates and traditional entrees.
Open kitchen was fun to watch; service was good particularly wait staff but assistants who brought food to table were not able to answer simple question (which is split pea soup and which mushroom bisque?) and need further training.
All dishes were nicely presented and very tasty; portions were ample.
They do charge extra for bread... needs to be clear.
All in all a great addition to Maplewood and NJ food scene.
Keep up he good work
Delicious food, good service but it got very busy and we saw less and less of Benjamin our waiter. Unfortunately he forgot to put in our dessert order and we had to miss out on the mini brownie sundae so we could still catch our movie. He was very apologetic, completely owned it. Couldn’t be mad or upset and really my fat stomach did not need it — he did us a favor, LOL. Recommend without any hesitation!!
Great service and delicious food. But much too noisy.
Go for drinks, but not for the food. Cocktails are very good, and they always have a good beer selection. However, food is outrageously overpriced for what they serve. There are a couple of tasty things, but the majority of the menu simply isn’t good.
Great atmosphere, decent food. Good for group cocktails & dinner. There seemed to be some hiccups in the overall running of the restaurant. Our waiter was great & tried to compensate for the delays.
This place has been on my radar for about 6 months and it didn't fail to disappoint. The food was exquisite and you get the feeling you are in a Michelin star restaurant
Hated the hostess. She tried to force us to sit at a table by the noisy kitchen and when I said something like “may I sit elsewhere more quiet” she said she had “other reservations” as if they were more important than my reservation???
But after speaking with the manager, he gave us a great table and the waiter was excellent, James. He knew the menu inside and out and alll of the drinks made excellent suggestions, great conversation and salvaged the whole night.
We are regulars at the Gladstone Tavern and the Cassidy was a beautiful expansion. Love the seasonal menu love the ambiance and the meal was divine !
Will be back !!
Everything was very good!! Great neighborhood place!
This is a welcome addition to Maplewood. Enjoyed the duck, duck, duck appetizer. However the short ribs ravioli was super al debate. The speciality cocktails tend to be a little tart for my taste.
My wife and I were fortunate to get a booth here for dinner on a Saturday evening. Great place, with a very active bar scene, great cocktails, great food and service.
We love Cassidy, it’s always just a little loud
We had lunch here with our daughter who works nearby. The food and service were very good. Interesting menu with healthy choices.
Cassidy is getting better like aging wine. The portion sizes are more generous than when they first opened. The waitstaff is great and attentive. This is on its way to becoming a neighborhood gem
dinner for 3 last friday nite. food was very good, all were pleased. service was excellent and it was quiet as we had the booth all the way in the back.
Service was excellent and the staff was attentive without being overbearing. All my guests were pleased with their meals.
Will definitely be back.
We had a nice night. Buffalo cauliflower was tasty. Whole fish was cooked nicely but accompaniments were not great including unevenly cooked potatoes. Shrimp pasta dish was ok - fettuccine clumped together as though not stirred while cooking, shrimp a little over cooked, but tomatoes and broccoli rabe good. Cocktails were interesting. Our server was very pleasant. The bar space is comfortable and was busy but not overcrowded on a Saturday night. I would go back happily for drinks and snacks but wouldn’t expect a killer meal.
We had a great experience at Cassidy. The service was outstanding.
I’ve been to the restaurant twice. I loved the food and the ambiance and will definitely be back again. My only complaint is I don’t like being sat right in front of the kitchen. The first time I went we were sat in front of the kitchen and ended up moving to the bar. The second time the same thing happened but there was no room to move. While I do appreciate who makes my food I do not want to watch it happen while I’m trying to have a quiet meal with my husband. The noise in the kitchen was distracting and it was so bright. We did however, love our meals and dessert! Our waiter was also superb. I will be back but I will make sure to call ahead for a booth seat in the bar area.?
Food was very good with creative combinations. Two in my party had the brisket, which they found good but not he best they have had. The Duck confit was excellent with very good and complementary vegetables. The bar and beer choices were a plus, but there was no escape from the bar based cacophony.
We truly enjoyed our meal there. Duck and pork chops were incredible. The place has trendy/NYC feel. We will certainly be back. Also, the hostess was very attentive and sat us in a booth next to the window - just like I asked on the open table. Thank you!
