The Carleton is housed in a building in Halifax, NS that was built in 1760 and was the home of Richard Bulkeley.

Apart from two churches, Bulkeley’s home is the oldest building in Halifax, NS. Since 1786 his residence has been known as ‘The Carleton’. As one of Halifax’s premier live music venues for the past 10 years, The Carleton has earned numerous awards and accolades including three East Coast Music Awards and eight Music Nova Scotia Awards for Venue of the Year, and most recently the 2017 Canada Live Music Award for Best Small Venue in the Country.

An exciting complement to the refreshed space is the introduction of a superb new menu by The Carleton’s new Executive Chef, Michael Dolente. Whether you’re sampling a local beer or cocktail in the bar after work or enjoying a lazy weekend lunch in the restaurant, our staff will ensure you feel welcome in our home from home."

Love the Carleton. Food is delicious. The atmosphere for performers is excellent and makes it easy to enjoy the show.

Enjoyed the day. Eggs for the eggs benney needed to be cooked more. Other than that - it was an excellent day!

Valentines Day special event entertainment with a delightful singer and accompanying guitarist and wonderful 3 course meal. The whole experience from early arrival to enjoy cocktails to degustif was perfect.

I love the Carleton for the music and am more and more disappointed with the food. We were told the menu changes seasonally but not much had changed. Missing was an amazing Pavlova for dessert. The appetizers were the same and were mediocre. I’d love for the food to be as good as the music. Had a gin and tonic and was fairly diluted. Fine for the weekday but not the price. I’d love for the food game to be stepped up some more here.
