   We had a wonderful lunch and our sever, who was doing double duty as bartender and server for the restaurant was great!

   On Easter weekend we dined out and our brunch was cut short due to my daughter getting sick so I was REALLY looking forward to Mother’s Day at the capital grille. The Capital Grille has been a staple in my family’s lives. I spent my birthday there this year, we were there for Thanksgiving last year and many years before and we have gone for Easter and Mother’s Day and other birthdays for the last 15 years. Aside from that, I try to go at least 1x a month just to get my steak fix. It’s always been consistently great, which is why I return. Sadly, Mother’s Day this year was a whole different experience than what I’m used to. The usual Mother’s Day greeting goes something like “hello, welcome to capital Grille. Thank you for dining with us today and happy Mother’s Day. Is this your first time joining us? “ instead I was greeted with “Did you want anything besides water?” Our server had a lackluster presence; not joyful or kind, and did not seem excited to be there at all. We were seated at half of a round table and kind of jammed in a corner. I didn’t really care about that because the hostess was kind enough to accommodate one addition to our table, but instead of the server coming to the side (so I didn’t have to scream) she chose to stay diagonally from me when taking my order. So perhaps she didn’t hear me ask for medium rare (although I asked for it twice). My filet came out medium +. I tried to eat it, but I ended up spitting out three of the pieces because it was chewy and full of gristle. The last 10 times that I have dined there I have ordered the exact same thing which is the steak with fig essence, one of my favorites. When I ordered it, I did ask for extra fig sauce. When the plate came out, I was asked if we needed anything else and I said may I please have the fig sauce. She pointed and said there is already fig sauce on it. So that made me uncomfortable because now I have to ask for it again and it feels like I’m begging. I don’t mind paying extra, but

   Absolutely delicious food with an unbeatable atmosphere. The specials are to-die-for, so imagine what the dishes on the menu taste like as well. Our waitress was very attentive, but didn’t hover. And the flourless chocolate cake and cheesecake were outstanding. Definitely worth every penny.

   Troy and Peter are the best servers. They make my family feel so special every time we eat at Capital Grill. Definition of professional.

   Everything was great until the end of of meal- the server stood by another table, it appeared to be people she knew quite well and just chatted and telling stories. We sat with our plates empty or ready for to go packing for no less than 15 minutes until a different server noticed and came to the table. The table next to us was noticeably watching the server as well. Food was outstanding. We definitely will come back with hopes for a different server.

   Great good. Great service. It was our anniversary and they made it very special. Wife has gluten allergies and they always take great care of her needs.
