The Capital Grille - Los Angeles

Terry, our server, was excellent. I recommend that you ask for Terry to be your server.
The Capital Grille exceeded our expectations, everything was delicious and the service was great as well as the ambiance. You truly get what you pay for and it doesn't disappoint.
I'd reco the Brussels sprouts, lobster mac, crab and lobster cakes
From the Valet to the Hostess to the Servers, the service was awesome. The food was dynamic, and the atmosphere was pleasant and soothing. I loved everything about it. If you go to the one Downtown, just go straight to the Valet because the parking is the best value. Also, if you take any food home, ask for an extra Bread Basket. It's a variety, and everything in it is tasty. I really enjoyed myself.
Everything was so tasty at Capital Grille. We ordered the Pineapple infused stoli drink. The pineapple is infused with the vodka for seven days, and taste so refreshing with a hint of sweetness. We ordered the 22oz bone in rib-eye that was shared and more than enough for two people. The salad wedge was and the lobster mac and cheese were our favorite sides. Everything is delicious, and our server Eric was very attentive and knowledgeable about the steak.
Food was good but service was slow while sitting at the bar
Read negative reviews about poor service. Nothing could be further from the truth. The service was impeccable. I will revisit happily.
Showed up at 9. Didn’t get any appetizers until around 9:40. Very disorganized waiters and kitchen seemed extremely backed up and food was rather bland. Disappointing.
Kennedy was a great waitress!!
I have been to The Capital Grille in Miami, New York, Washington, D.C., and Las Vegas many times. The food at this new Los Angeles location was as excellent as at every other location. The service was absolutely HORRENDOUS. The manager did make an effort to remedy the situation; however, it was beyond recoverable. I'm still perplexed at how it all went so wrong! I'd avoid this location at all costs!!!
The Capital Grille has some of the best choices for steaks and seafood and Drinks!
Would definitely come again!
Excellent! I had the ribeye sandwich for the first time! I still think about!! The steak was perfectly cooked; it was like butter! Starter was the calamari. Again!
It’s addictive. As are the martinis and Old Fashions!
Well they sat us next to the kitchen where staff pretty much stood there and stared at us through a glass wall. Although the staff was extremely caring and thoughtful it was weird to have people gawking at you while you ate. I witness staff drinking water bottles and chatting. It was distracting and uncomfortable.
Our servers were the nicest and took good care of us by making sure we were topped off, clean utensils, and ready to help.
We ordered a lobster salad for lunch and mini sandwich lunch.
The salad arrived literally right after our clam chowder (which was good, being from the east coast and all) and my sandwich took over 30 minutes to get to the table. So my friend sat there with her salad just waiting for me to get my dish. Pretty sad is especially since it was a work lunch and we had to get back.
But, again the staff was sincere and apologetic and gave us a free dessert.
I love this place
What is the best restaurants ever.
Food was not like the other locations. We ended up wasting every dish :(
We had great service and an excellent meal. From the appetizers to dessert! So much food we have plenty to take home and enjoy. It’s a beautiful location in downtown Los Angeles. Parking is a little tricky so valet parking is recommended. Very convenient $15.
The food was amazing. Our server was great and very attentive!
I am leaving this place a great review because of my Husbands Dinner not mine. The steak was amazing and the Italian parmesan dressing was so good I wanted to drink it. My soup was amazing but the first cup was ice cold…. I had the crab legs and they were not very good….. But the coconut cream pie was the best dessert I have had anywhere in my whole life….. The service was top notch…..
We went for a dinner with my bf and were quite disappointed. The food was far from good (very overpriced for what you get). It felt like Denny’s in a way: very basic flavors and low quality of products. DTLA has so many great restaurants to offer and steakhouses are great around the area (we went to capital grill just because it was in the building we live), so I would not recommend it at all. The only positive thing was our server Tom, he was sweet😉
Very pour service almost two hours to get the food, plus the Steak didn’t have any flavor and dry, very bad experience!
I will never go back to this place.
The restaurant decor and ambiance is great. The food and the drinks were outstanding. My only feedback is that should enforce some dress code I felt like a was at the hood at times.
Wonderful place to have dinner the food is delicious and the service is perfect
Service was slow. Three of us ordered the lamb chops medium well but they made them well done. The brussel sprouts were too sweet.
Wonderful night. The server (didnt catch his name taller with a slight accent) was amazing and very well anticipating our needs. He was dropping things at the table when our table was full like an extra spoon or asking to refill our drinks at the perfect time. It was a very pleasant experience. Working in hospitality myself I always like to make sure to highlight wonderful service! Thank you for a great evening and we will be back.
Went for a late lunch. These folks are so accommodating and the experience is terrific. Decided to have starters as our main course. The crab cakes were awesome. The ahi tuna tartare was terrific. As was the margarita!
Or the Capital Grille experience that I’m used to. Food coming out cold, server act like she was a deer caught in headlights when we asked about a sizzling hot plate and hot butter. She didn’t even try to fix the issues. Then I ordered a drink that I couldn’t drink and she kept it on my bill. I ordered something so initially I was charged for both drinks. Had to go get a manager on my own after asking the hostess who were seating another group by us to send one up. That never happened so I went and asked someone else to get him. The service and food should’ve been better as when we ordered it’s was pretty much empty at the restaurant. I could see if they were very busy but everything was very slow for service and drinks. I doubt it we come back to this location.
Very enjoyable and friendly staff. Beautiful decor and great location. Food was awesome however lobster crab cakes in MILWAUKEE have a little more mph. We will definitely be back.
This visit was for lunch! Awesome as previously mentioned. There is nothing better than having an elegant, civilized location for lunch. So happy that Capital Grill is right across the street!
Hostesses were very welcoming and friendly; we were greeted immediately with beautiful smiles. Very sweet that our table was decorated with festive confetti and a birthday card greeting. The wait staff was very attentive and accommodating especially our server Kim. We enjoyed the music and vibe of the restaurant, kind of Las Vegas feel.
Can’t wait to return with family and friends. Wishing the capital Grille much success and prosperity.
Absolutely love having Capital Grill Dwntwn LA! We have always enjoyed the food, service and ambience at Capital. Will definitely be back for more.
Great cocktails at the bar. We have eaten at CG all over the US and I will say the kitchen in LA needs some help. They couldn't manage to get a steak prepped properly, which is disappointing given that they have one, actually two, of my favorite steaks. Chefs, in general, who work at a steakhouse should master more than medium rare and be aware of what black and blue means and that Pittsburgh style is a preparation and black and blue is the temperature of the steak. If you serve high end steaks you should be well versed in prep and taste. All in all still a great meal, great service and only complaint was the steak. Management was extremely attentive and professional as well. I will go back, because I always do, love CG and who doesn't love a stoli doli?
Service is top tier and every dish is delicious
Honestly very disappointed. This was the second time I had gone Hoping my first time was a fluke. Unfortunately the same thing happened. We ordered a bottle of wine and some appetizers which were great.
Then we ordered our steaks and over 45 mins passed before anyone came to check on us. We had to go up front to the manager to ask and nothing got done. When the steaks finally came they were luke warm at best and extremely dry. We had finished our bottle by the time the steaks came so we ordered more red wine to enjoy with the steaks. These took another 15 mins to arrive. By this point my guest was extremely frustrated and really didn’t even want the steak.
It’s really unfortunate because the place is great and the people are friendly but they need to work on their service as they will be quick to get your drink orders in then forget about you. The same thing happened both times I went.
In my profession I am often taken to diner by perspective business that want me as their client. I rack up large bills in the thousands on company tabs and can provide substantial revenue to a restaurant that I can trust to take care of people.
I really wanted this place to be my new spot but with the service being in this shape I simply cannot risk bringing business here as a key to these business dinners is for everyone to be taken care of, fed promptly and that the services matches the atmosphere.
I believe my bill came out to around 400 for 2 people. We would have easily spent 600 or more had the service been better.
I hope these are just some growing pains as I understand they are relatively new to the DTLA scene. Best of luck in the future.
Someone needs to visit the Capitol Grill in Phoenix. World of difference. Brussels sprouts in Phoenix are amazing, LA. So so. Kind of overdone and burnt on the edges. Steak in Phoenix melts in your mouth, LA was comparable to maybe Outhouse Steakhouse. Never ate at Outback, but I would imagine it to be about the same. Service was great. Will not be coming back to this location, but will continue to visit the one in Phoenix
Love you guys
Erin was amazing, the food was amazing. Overall great experience and i will be returning
Lovely steakhouse for every day dining. Hearty portions.
