We have been going to this restaurant for many years and like the food. Unfortunately, it was quite noisy during our last visit. We would still recommend it for their fajitas!
The salsa is super! The chips were good. My wife's shrimp fajita was excellent, with lots of plump shrimp and tasty grilled veggies. My wife enjoyed her frozen margarita, despite the fact that her requested salt on the rim was missing. I liked my IPA but I had asked for a "small" and was brought (and charged for) a "large". My crab cakes were undistinguished; they seemed to have a lot of "filler" in them and not much crab.
Overall, I'd go there again. Especially for the salsa and the shrimp fajita!
Always consistent—great food and attentive service.
The service was fantastic. We came mainly for the chips. It was do good.
Great as always! Good service good food good people..
Food, service very good. Noise level not good! Will not return for that reason.
We had a wonderful dinner Saturday night with family. We gorged on guacamole, enchiladas, fajitas and the mud pie! We had a table in the small quiet room with a fireplace. Our waiter did a great job.
Daniels room please thanks
New Taco Tuesday is the best thing to happen in Mill Valley. No Joke. We will be there every Tuesday
Selena is the best! Get a table in the outdoor bar area. Thanks Selena.
Beautiful restaurant with good food.
Patios are amazing
Service and food were very good. Location was convenient. It’s nice to dine at a pet friendly restaurant where the food and service are good.
Our waiter was very nice ..
no hostess when we arrived ... waited 5-10 minutes to be acknowledged and it wasn’t crowded.
Kitchen was slow and guacamole served brown .
Disappointed. Service was really bad and the food quality was poor. Second and last time. We were parching! Could not find people to give us water.
Nice night out while on vacation. Food was very tasty and the service was attentive but not hovering.
Mexican food for white people. Very good service
Always a solid dining experience. Highly recommend if a chain restaurant works for you.
Was headed to SF and remembered the Cantina in Mill Valley. Since my move North to Sonoma, I hadn’t been there in years.
Pleasantly surprised to still find wonderful ambiance, great service, and wonderful food. Our lunch was amazing.
Family friendly which is always a plus! Delicious food and wonderful wait staff. Raymond was very prompt and attentive. Thank you!
We were running late, but they saved reservations for us. Sat immediately upon arriving on a Saturday night. The only drawback was, we paid over $50 for a pitcher of margaritas and they weren't that good. They tasted like they came from a premixed bottle and took a while to receive. Otherwise service and food were good. I would go back, but not order margaritas by the pitcher.
We stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner on a Wednesday, so it wasn't crowded. Our server was excellent. and most of the staff was friendly and helpful, although the hostess seemed bored and put-out by having to seat people.
The crab enchiladas were okay. Not great, but okay. The rice was fine and so were the beans. The side salad was just lettuce with a weird dressing.
I can see where this is would be a better spot to stop for drinks and appetizers after a long bike ride or hike than for a meal, or would be great if one had a large group as there is plenty of seating and rooms or areas divided off from the main area.
Great food great service nice ambiance! We will be back soon!
The food was good, portions were large and the atmosphere is nice. I was able to have a nice long lunch with a friend and it was very comfortable.
Food was good, but the decor is really dated (not in a good way), and the service was definitely casual - both in the bar (which was standing room only) and the main restaurant (which was sparsely filled). We had to change tables twice in order to take advantage of happy hour and the dinner menu at the same time.
The food was great and me and my family have been going there 30 plus years. There was a group of 25 young kids that were very loud and made it difficult to have a conversation. We were there early and I was visiting from saratoga where I now live. We were really surprised and disappointed. I thought it was very disruptive for everyone.
The staff is friendly and competent. The food is fresh and tasty. And it is very kid friendly.
Couldn’t find a restaurant in Marin that had a last minute table for 8 for New Years Day and found one at the Cantina. Great place for a group with kids. Everyone enjoyed the Mexican food and adults enjoyed margaritas.
Daniel provided exceptional service, friendly, warm, funny. Splendid evening was had by all in our party.
Solid Mexican restaurant, good Margaritas, generous portions of Mexican comfort food. Good service. Fast, efficient. Good for families and groups.
We had a reservation for 6:30...we were not seated until 7:30. It was so very noisy...one seated customer pulled me over tell we would not be able to think at one table. They were nice enough to find us a great booth at about 8:00...event her, it was hard to hear.
Solid Mexican food, good service and the price is reasonable
Food quality has declined each time we have gone there in the past few months. Very loud with small children.
This is good Anglo California-style Mexican food. Nothing pretentious, no attempt to convince you that you are eating anything "authentic". Just good Mexican-style comfort food. We go there often. I say California style because I travel to New Mexico frequently and the hispanic food there is very different, not better just different. Great place to take kids. And probably the best value for money in the Mill Valley area.
Very tasty Food. Served quick. A lot of variety on the menu. The house Margarita was yummy too. Very family friendly. Lots of kids.
Good food, good portion size, good service, reasonably priced. Never had a bad meal or experience here. Staff is very accomidating. Free parking too.
Our overall experience was disappointing. We were seated relatively quickly, then were given chips, salsa, and lukewarm water. It took about 10 minutes before the waiter stopped by to take our order. We ordered drinks and our meals together, to try to speed things up. That didn’t help. Our beer and margarita came after about 10 minutes. Our fajitas and enchiladas took another 20 minutes, and were just okay.
We used to come to the Cantina more often, but doubt we’ll be back anytime soon.
The hostess and our waiter were both very nice and the service was excellent. Even though we asked for a quiet corner, there really isn't one. This is a high energy place geared to a 21 to 40 crowd. The food was good and decent portions, but very Americanized. Not bad, but not great.
My friends and I have eaten at Cantina dozens of times, and it seems to be going downhill. Service was really bad the other night. We had all our food and drinks, but no silverware. Had to flag a busboy. Waitress dropped a plate on the patio and pieces of it flew over our table. Stuff happens, but if I'd been hit in the eye, you'd've been hit with a very big lawsuit. Beware the happy hour bamboozle: HH prices are only in effect if you sit in the always-crowded bar area or outside, and they don't tell you this unless you ask (and why would you ask if happy hour prices depend on where you sit?).
The server while pleasant was not attentive, the TV blaring , the bartender beyond rude . The manager did acknowledge our displeasure and comped our meal
Do no go there
