Met my friend there and had a great night. It was pretty loud but fun. The food was pretty typical central Mexican fare but it all tasted extremely fresh and homemade. Folks were very fast with service and drinks were yummy. Would definitely go there again!

Sat evening very noisy, loud people enjoying margaritas. Crab taco served with generous sides. Taco salad very generous. Excellent attentive server. Lunch visit was very quiet, excellent crab cakes and chili relents and service.

I love this restaurant and we always enjoy the food and margaritas. I would suggest the restaurant give the entire place a good scrubbing. I think there is so much foot traffic and it is so busy that it is getting a little dirty. Mainly table chairs and floors. Every restaurant has to keep up cleanliness and appearance especially to keep customers coming back!

The Cantina has always been one of my favorite places in Marin...especially for Mexican Food. We're originally from Arizona, so finding good Mexican food was a challenge until we found the Cantina. We've eaten there dozens of times and always find the setting pleasant and the food wonderful. I particularly love their margaritas and their outdoor seating.

sadly this restaurant did not accomodate our request in spite of being relatively empty. The guacamole made in front of you had no salt. the glasses were dirty and overall was just not good. if they were a bit more personable I'd come back. Our server was decent but really not worth it.

The waiter got my mom's order wrong and it took about 20 minutes for her food to come out. Rest of us were already done eating. They didn't compensate us at all. Not a great experience.

Dinner for two couples, early in evening (5: 30). Service was slow getting started because our server was handling many tables. He was good, just overtaxed at that point before additional personnel came on duty.

The group ordered different dishes, and they arrived relatively quickly. But the problem was the food. It might as well have been one order of one thing. All the food was soggy. All had heavy doses of the same sauce. It all melded into amorphous gloppy masses. None of us came close to cleaning our plates, and we all refused the offer of a take home box. Will not visit again.

Went to The Cantina this past Saturday evening. As expected, the place was bustling.
It took a while for the server to come by. Usually, they bring chips, salsa and water shortly after you're seated. No such luck this time. We placed our drink and food order with the server and about five minutes later the entrees came out. Still no drinks, water or chips and salsa.
Our server came by and explained the bar was backed up, but we felt really rushed sitting there with our entrees with no water or cocktails.
Usually the food and service are spot on here. The entrees were very good, but the timing of the service left alot to be desired.

There were six of us, four adults and two children, for an early dinner. Our reservation was waiting for us, and we were seated promptly. Service was very good. Server treated the two children very well and let them answer for themselves when ordering. Chips and salsa were plentiful. Food was very good and large portions. Price was moderate. Entrées averaged $12 to $15 piece. We would return for another meal.

Best Happy Hour in Marin, Hands Down!! Great lively bar and Fire Pit Patio. Great Margaritas, Great Appetizers. Service is amazing, just be warned on Friday and Saturday nights they are extremely busy, so come and expect a wait. Food isn't Spicy but you can ask for them to make it Spicy if your like me and like the heat. I will be back soon

Haven't been back for a meal at the Cantina since the 1980s, and they have made some great changes. I had to ask the for the fireplace to be turned on - it was cold and raining outside so it was weird that they weren't burning a fire. Food was fabulous, loved the Carne Asada and Fajitas and tostada appetizer. Margaritas were yummy and loved that they sang my 22 year old son Happy Bday with the best Flan I have ever had. We will be back and probably make this a new tradition.

It took forever to order and get our food. We had 14 people at our table and food came out at different times with no excuses. Kid food took forever, too. We have been going her for 20+ years and will not make it back in a hurry.

We keep coming back to this restaurant for Mexican, not just because it is convenient, but because they get the food right every time. Great Chile Rellenos, excellent tostadas and enchiladas, tasty margaritas, warm fresh chips and great service.

A decent Mexican cantina. It is rather typical California Mexican food served in large portions. Kid friendly and the bar attracts a noisy crowd. Not a place for a quiet dinner. We go there occasionally when the wife doesn't want to cook dinner. Their chile rellenos and crab cakes are good.

From the moment we sat down, and one of our water glasses was leaking from a hole in the bottom, up until the rest of our food and drinks never came, it was a comedy of errors. The food was good, but the service was indifferent.

A PERFECT FAMILY SPOT WITH A GREAT SELECTION OF TASTY FOOD, FRIENDLY AND PRETTY PROMPT SERVICE. LARGE PORTIONS THAT ARE PERFECT FOR DOGGIE BAGS BECAUSE CANTINA USES FRESH INGREDIENTS. THEY USE CHICKEN BREAST AND PRIME CUTS OF MEAT, EVERYONE (6) WAS HAPPY WITH THEIR MEAL.
NOT TOO NOISEY EXCEPT FOR A FEW UNCONTROLLABLE CHILDREN AT THE NEXT TABLE WHICH SEEMS TO BE THE NORM IN MARIN.

The Cantina has this great quality of feeling like a large, go-to, family Mexican restaurant (easy access, parking lot), with a small bar area that is great for watching sports…(there's even an outdoor patio area off the bar with a TV outside!)
AND it also has a cozy, even romantic vibe, inside. the food is excellent, and plentiful - with many choices.
you really feel like all your needs are met.

note: they close at 9, sharp on Sunday nights. so, if you go that night, like we did - I recommend going before 8 if you plan to hang out a bit. We had to go somewhere else to continue our conversation.

Been back recently after not going for a long time, and was pleasantly surprised that the food had improved 100 fold over last year. We have been back several times since. Maybe they have a new chef. The quality of the food has definitely improved and was excellent, the freshness as well. And put together nicely to make a memorable meal. The drinks were very good, but the food was the best! We will be going back tonight again. Between lunch and dinner we have gone a lot in just the last 2 months. I am so glad we gave it another try. And the waitperson is always wonderful here. Love this California Mexican.

The service was great, but as others have mentioned they don't give you enough time between your appetizer and your entrée, and the same person (not the waiter) serves you your food ( and seems to be rushed and a little confused who gets what entrée.

The Cantina has good Mexican food, but not authentic, but I would definitely return and recommend it to others.

Jose is the best waiter! My husband is on a restrictive diet and Jose made sure he did not have any salt on his food. The cooks obliged and that alone makes the Cantina a very special place!

The waiter was very nice, but we felt a little rushed - the food came super fast and the help seemed a little anxious to get rid of us - I could understand if it was very busy, but it was not. Other than that, the food was good and the server very nice.

The house margarita was tasty but very weak in alcohol - so that was a dissappointment.

We had brunch here on a Sunday and it was very good. We sat outside on the patio. They had $5 drinks including a nice bloody mary. A couple of weeks later we had dinner there. The food was good, but not quite as good as we have had at other Mexican restaurants. No option to get whole pinto beans. It is a restaurant that we will return to occasionally.
