Absolutely the worst service I've ever received in a restaurant. I was debating writing a review but what good would it do however being asked how would I review it, here you go.
My son's First holy Communion and Father's Day made reservations for 6 ppl standard table. Walked in to them not reserving a table then asked could we sit outside but it would be 15-30 min wait then asked could we fit, again 5 adults 1 8 yr old, at a circle BOOTH that maybe could sit 4. When I said doubtful, the hostess left never to be seen again. Another purple haired girl came over and told us "it's there or a wait." So with my family waiting unfortunately asked to speak w a manager, this felt like a hidden camera prank. Manager said 2 tables were getting up and we could sit at the booth till our table was ready and gave us some guac and left never again seen. After 10 mins a table was made like right under a speaker no silverware for the whole meal, no sugar with unsweetened tea, no offer for a discount, comp of drinks, hell even had to ask for napkins, saw our waitress 2 times order and bill. Food was okay at best. $133 tab for an absolutely awful experience. An apology for not keeping our reservations and utensils would have completely turned around the experience but to no avail. Seriously save your money. PLUS called ahead to make sure online menu was accurate it's not, was offered maybe 1/3 of the items. They are well staffed w ppl who don't want to work, managing restaurants and bars in Philadelphia for years and know how hard of a job the industry is, why we tip well always, even yesterday. This wasn't busy, or understaffed, or holiday craziness, it was laziness and incompetence from management down. If rude service, overpriced sandos 🙄 is your thing with a beautiful environment you can't enjoy bc of horrible music and angst teens this will be your jam.
Daisy was a great server. She helped us have a pleasant experience!
This was my first indoor dining experience since the pandemic began, and it was a great choice. I booked it because of it's location (I was meeting a friend who lives 3+ hours away from me and this way about 1.5 hours for each of us) and it's high ceilings. Even though we are both vaccinated, we were antsy about eating indoors so this space was exactly what we needed. When we got there we were pleasantly surprised by the food and service - and the shops in the rest of the building. This is our new 'meet me in the middle' spot!
Made reservations online and only waited a few minutes when we arrived for our table. Server was very nice & immediately took our order. I had a salad that was very good but too large of a portion for 1 person. A little pricey but worth it. I will definitely be returning.
Really great food, awesome atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this place for Sunday brunch. It’s a little pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for here. 10/10
We had such a good time! W e loved our server Michael. The food was delicious. We'll be back soon.
We LOVED our brunch and hope to visit again when we are in the area!
The server Mike was very friendly and took patience when handling our food. He def deserves a raise!! The place is very pretty with great art to view if you’re bored and lots of inside boutique as well. The food was decent.
Great place for brunch. They have great food and the restaurant is so cute and in a great location. If you go make sure to try their kombucha. 10/10 definitely going for breakfast again. We had a large group and they were very accommodating and made sure we could all sit together and made sure we had a great experience!!
Great ambiance to this place. What’s a bonus is all the art that surrounds it throughout the building. Service was good, food and quality was excellent!
Love The Canning House! Great food and atmosphere! However, they were clearly short-handed on Mother’s Day and couldn’t get our order straight. That said, they took some off the bill so all’s well that ends well. Will definitely return.
Everything was great, but we were seated so close to two other tables. I understand trying to maximize space, but it was hard to carry on a conversation with people directly next to you.
Mother's Day brunch nicely done. Good food, served hot. Was able to enjoy Mimosas for this very special day. Return visit and will return again. Neat atmosphere to enjoy breakfast, lunch or brunch.
It was my first time there, and I will he going back with a bunch of my friends. It was an amazing experience for people that love food and art. Omg the art was amazing. OH, the coffee was good too. Staff were friendly. Who knew this GEM was in the Wilkes Barre area. I would leave 10 out of 10, but I happen to be sitting right under the speakers so even tho the music wasn't loud, it was hard to have a conversation specially a private one.
Food is awesome! Great place to go to catch up with friends, but not for a quick lunch.
Loved everything- quick warning there is no alcohol
Incredibly friendly staff. Food as beautiful and artistically presented as the atmosphere. Salad of the day with fresh sugar beets, blue cheese and arugula arrived in a huge portion. Bee-L-T always a favorite!
Fanatic service, great food, coffee was pretty good... well be back
I am so pleased with my experience at the Canning House every time and this time was no different!
I have been searching for a sandwich in the area that is sweet and has tons of notes of flavor. I finally found that but even better at the Canning House. Definitely will be coming back!
Cool place for lunch. Friendly, fun atmosphere. We’ll be going back.
