The Buxton Inn
Those choosing to dine at The Buxton Inn will enjoy a seasonally based menu of classic and modern dishes. Main courses include fresh seafood dishes, a variety of meat dishes and several fresh pasta options. Meal-sized salads and fresh soups are available on the appealing menu at The Buxton Inn.
Had dinner at the Buxton on a Wednesday evening, and they were not at all busy. There was lots of wait staff and we were the only customers most of the evening, so service was excellent. Our waitress, Taylor, was excellent. She was very helpful in explaining the menu and checked on us frequently, but didn't burden us. My wife's steak was very good, not excellent, but very good. I had the Seafood Chesapeake and it was excellent. We had dinner in the atrium area and it was a very nice atmosphere on a nice warm spring evening.
We had an excellent dinner. Delicious food and great service. I prefer indoor dining rooms and they were seating in their enclosed heated courtyard. However we really enjoyed our evening.
The staff was very friendly and extremely accomodating and the restaurant has a special charm to it.
We went on a Friday night at the last minute and got right in. They have one of the nicest dining rooms you can sit in as it is a glass enclosed patio. Our food was very good and had great service. It was very positive experience.
Wonder time for our Daddy-Daughter dinner before the dance!
We had a great server and good food! We will be back!!
The experience was delightful. The lunch was delicious and the service was friendly. We will return.
Such a beautiful historical restaurant/inn. The new owners have done a wonderful job restoring and renovating. Dinner was excellant, as always...wait staff very personable. We love the ambiance.
It was a fantastic experience. Because of a flukes with open table reservations, our seating time was the same as the time the kitchen closed. Everyone was staying late because of us, but we really didn’t know till the end. The food and service was not one wit below other times we have been there. We were really impressed with the level of professionalism and tipped accordingly. Top marks.
I have always loved the Buxton. The warm cozy atmosphere is very inviting. Unfortunately we had poor table service. The waitress was difficult to find during most of our Dinner. Many food items were served cold probably due to the latter issue.
The food items and drinks were delicious.
Maybe some wait staff changes should be considered.
Francesca was awesome🤟. Such great food!
Not an issue. Great food, great wine, great service . Will be back soon
Our Valentines Dinner was the best dinner I have had in years. The Seafood Chesapeake we had was the best I have ever had!! Our service was second to none!!
Food was pretty bad . Out of most things on Menu , Service was pretty good .
This place is really nice if you are into historic places, Granville offers a lot of preserved history. Food was ok, nothing special and waiter was nice. I felt it was a little pricey for meal we got.
First time there and it did not disappoint. Food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. We will be back.
We had reservations but they seated us out in the indoor patio area. It was quite cold and we told our waitress. She turned the heat on or up and we could feel it warming up. As quick as it came on it was off. I put my coat on-I don’t like to eat with my coat on. We asked the waitress again for heat and she said she would but the manager who was in the patio area talking to other patrons, would just turn it off. Sure enough it came on and was turn d off. I was dressed appropriately for February. Our waitress was polite but wasn’t informed about the ‘sweetheart’ menus for 2 that we ordered. Salad had no dressing, told us wrong kind of potatoes would be served, and they didn’t have the molten lava cake that was part of the menu. Buxton Inn missed on several points to our dining experience. Not sure if I’ll be back.
We've visited The Buxton Inn on a few occasions. Most times the service and meals are worth the cost. The ambiance is nice with a great history to the place. We've eaten in every room but like the atrium the best. I would recommend The Buxton Inn.
The Buxton has a homey feel, home cooked food with great flavor! We love the history behind the Inn, and how everyone is friendly and welcoming.
The place was empty, which made it quiet and we had quick service. The food was average, good, but not rave worthy. My only issue is that when the bill came, they charged more for the entrees that what the menu said. After asking, they did change the bill, but did not apologize or explain why it happened. It felt as if they were trying to scam a few extra dollars.
Such an enjoyable place to meet our granddaughter halfway.!
Very nice and quiet atmosphere for a date. We liked the historical aspects of the inn. The food was good but not great.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Hopefully you will try us again.
We had 7 for lunch between Christmas and New Years. Drove from Columbus to
view the Inn after restoration and sample the menu. Definitely will return, it is a
credit to the town of Granville.
PS. Had a wonderful waitress: Arbor.
Thats great and we think Arbor is great too! Thank you and we look forward to having you visit us again.
The Buxton has been our family go-to for nearly 30 years. Always kind and attentive staff, filling, wholesome and tasty food at a reasonable price. Have not tried the work e and spirits, but hear that’a a hit, too. My moms favorite place, we always remember the good times at The Buxton with her when we go!
Enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Looking forward to the next visit.
We appreciate you taking the time to let us know how we did. Looking forward to serving you again very soon!
The server who ended up waiting on us was nice, however there seemed to be confusion on who was going to wait on us, which meant service started out a bit slow, and then our server brought the check without offering us dessert or coffee. The salads were very good, but the entrees were just average, especially for the price. Nice ambience, quaint interiors, but did it make up for the food.
Atmosphere was amazing, food was excellent , service was outstanding
Food was just okay. The French onion soup was pretty good, but the quiche was overcooked and dry. There was nothing special about going to the Buxton Inn which is disappointing because it could be a lovely venue and go-to place as it used to be.
Went for my 40th Birthday during the Candlelight Walking Tour. Everything was better than I could have imagined with friendly staff and great food. Wine was delicious and due to the towns activities, I even had a quartet sing to me. Thanks for a wonderful experience!
I very nice experience indeed ! The ambiance was nice and the food plentiful. I’m confident that the staff was tired by the end of the event but performed very well and it was appreciated.
Great place to go on Thanksgiving
We dined inside at the same time they were supporting a wedding reception in the outdoor space, but they still did a nice job to ensure we had a nice experience.
We really enjoyed our dinner at The Buxton Inn. The pretty glass atrium with market lights was a surprise to find attached to the antique inn. Appetizers and dinners were delicious. Perfect for Denison Parents weekend or the next time we come to town.
The waitress was new, and did not know the menu, we were looking for dinner and she only knew sandwiches. When asked about Salmon she recommended well done!
They did not know the wine list, they said the numbers in the computer don't match the menu.
Overall a bad experience.
I have enjoyed the Buxton inn for over 35 years, but this time they missed the mark. Menu was different than what was posted on the signage at the door and web site. We were told they were breaking in a new kitchen staff. However food was average. Server was very helpful but I would like the Buxton to reclaim it’s charm and elegance.
I made reservations and noted that it was for our anniversary (45th). When we got to your place, the hostess asked us if we had a reservation and we indicated that we had. She then didn't know what to do so we had to wait until she could ask someone else what to do. We should have known there would be troubles ahead... and there were.
We were assigned to an empty back room and, after awhile, we were given a paper one-page menu with limited selection and no specialties. My wife wanted especially to order prime rib which usually is available on weekends. We were told that there is no prime rib and that the menu is limited because your establishment has recently lost your chef and that you were trying to break-in a new chef or other options.
We ordered pretty much meat and potatoes. We ordered medium rare and the meat was clearly medium (and pricey). In fact, for a "limited menu" the prices were higher than what a customer would expect.
The service was slow and inefficient. I first asked if there was a sauce available for my NY strip. He didn't know and had to check. After a few minutes, he came back and said no. I went ahead and ordered anyway. After waiting too long, your staff delivered our meal and mixed up the vegetables. Our waiter came out and brought a small cup of au jus; he said that he asked someone else and found out about it so he brought it over. It was not made from scratch. When I ordered originally I asked for 2 particuar glasses of wine to be served WITH the meal. Someone forgot so I had to catch up to our waiter and about 10 minutes or more we finally got our wine and one of your people blamed the bartender.
My comment is that we should have been advised (warned) when we made our reservation that there is a limited menu. There was no mention of an anniversary (why ask) and the prices were too high and I understand a limited selection but it doesn't preclude a rib roast (which is why we came). We have been to your facility before
I have always loved going to the Buxton Inn for dining especially for special events. I made reservations for 8 too celebrate my husband's 70 th Birthday. It was a surprise! Did not know that the surprise was that we received a menu of food items not available that night, which were everything that we were planning on ordering. So many ordered Fish and chips. Tasty but could have gone to Long John Silver's and just as tasty but cheaper. Our waiter (Jordan) was EXCELLENT!! I think if it had not been for him we would have gone somewhere else to o eat. We all came too the conclusion that something was going on in the kitchen and said a little prayer that the owners could get things back in control and that all of the customer's would be gracious too the situation. I will be back too dine in the future. I just know that what ever was going on that night was probably just "life happening" and a lesson to be learned.
We had not been to Buxton Inn in over fifteen years. We had Sunday brunch with friends because Granville is a good half-way meeting place. Ambiance is the same - I enjoy the inn atmosphere. Variety and quality of food consistent with price point. I would return to meet friends, but would not make the drive just for brunch.
Good was great. Service was lacking. We could hear employees fighting in the kitchen. We were fairly dressed up and they seated us in the bar area where it was very loud and most people were very casual. Saw many people headed to the back where it was a little calmer and fancier.
