The Butcher, The Baker, The Cappuccino Maker
No one had their order at the same time. The food was horrible. The milkshake took 35 mins. We left everything we ordered.
I loved everything about this classic yet trendy eatery! The food, service and decor is enough to lift anyone’s spirits! When I return to LA the Butcher the Baker and the Cappuccino Maker will be my first stop!
Didn't get seated until 30 mins after my reservation time. Ordered the mushroom/potato/onion/kale skillet omelette, received a plain egg omelette with sauteed mushrooms/potato/onion/kale heaped on top...?
Amazing everything: mimosa flight, lattes, eggs benny, French toast thick and awesome. Can’t wait to return
The food was decent, but not life changing. The service however was dreadful. We got our food before our coffee, which took 40 mins (!!!) to arrive. The waiter didn't apologize & attempted to charge us full price. I'm really not a person who complains or gets things taken off of bills. I'm also not a person who tips less than 20%, but OUCH this place did not have customer service to match the ambiance and food.
Be prepared to wait for a table, even with a reservation. We waited another 15-20 minutes after our reservation time. Also, the food took a long time to come out so don't expect a quick brunch (At least 30 minutes and our food was delivered at different times). Server was nice and food was pretty good.
I would never come again. Benedict was cold as if it had been for an hour when served, salmon was not fresh at all. SERVICE WAS REALLY RUDE. The guy asked us for at least five times whether we had finished or not, he urged us to leave ASAP when we had finished🙂At last we let him take away and he had our check immediately placed on table, so rude and ridiculous servant. He also acted like a “butcher” —rudely got our plates away and did not pay attention to the table linen. The linen fell on my dress and made it dirty af. He never apologized even though I almost screamed at that time.
Worst brunch experience.
The waitress, Lindsey, was great and the food was phenomenal.
It was wonderful!! We loved the food and drinks! Will be back for sure!
The restaurant was empty and the music was blasting.
I ordered a burger medium, and it came raw with the cheese barely melted. But the service was so slow (I blame it on the kitchen, not the server), there wasn't time to send it back.
I never write these negative reviews, but I'm making an exception for this place. I want to warn potential customers as unsuspecting as I was that they would be much better off choosing another restaurant or just going hungry.
My friend and I sat at the bar. We were served by Dimitri, who was extremely personable and friendly.
My friend had to catch a flight from LAX, so we were in a hurry. We each ordered coffee drinks. I ordered the smoked trout tartine, and my friend ordered avocado toast. A long time passed before we received anything. Finally, our coffee drinks arrived. About 25 minutes later, Dimitri noted that our food was on its way out. We received our entrees 10 minutes later. My friend enjoyed his avocado toast, but my tartine was deplorable. First, it was served with a fish that was clearly smoked SALMON (due to
Its pink color and texture), not smoked trout. It was dry and had no flavor. Dimitri mentioned that because of the holiday, the kitchen had not received its orders and staff had to run out to gather ingredients. I imagine that smoked trout could not be found at the nearest 7/11z
The tartine was to be layered with marscpone cheese. It tasted as if it was spread with crème freche and has been sitting out for hours. It was actually not good at all. The only reason I ate it is because we had been waiting for so long and I was starving. We didn’t have time for me to send it back and order something else, but I would have had we not been on a time constraint.
I’m offended that I was served a fish that the kitchen thought could pass for trout. I am not an idiot.
I used to love this place, but I’ll never be back.
Service slow. Ran out of potatoes?!
Ordered eggs - they came out raw with burnt toast. Had to send them back as not edible.
My friends French toast was awesome though.
Wouldn’t go back.
Walked out!!! had no coffee after 30 min wait, were out of potatoes and were out of fruit, lousy management and food choices on menu were few and poor
Just down the street from me so I might be biased but its great
waited for over an hour and our food never came! ended up just paying for the drinks and walked out! such a bad experience
I don’t understand if the chef forgot to put any kind of salt or spice in the food that day or they should just turn it into a strict coffee place
Great location and ambience. We had an amazing friendly waiter and the food tasted yummy.
Every visit has been great. The food is good and the service is top notch. When we've booked in advance we've been given a great booth inside. Can't wait to come back!
Great brunch with great drinks and great coffee.
I had a pretty good time, my friends and I each got a Benedict and tried a little of each. The maple bacon biscuits were perfection, the color burst lattes were exactly what we were hoping. I do wish I could request specific colors, but it was a great experience. My server who’s name I am forgetting but I believe it started with an R, and I’m almost positive it was Rasheata? I could be totally won’t and if so, I’m sorry. Your service was great.
The staff seemed to be a bit alarmed because of the forecasted rain situation, thank goodness I made reservations otherwise I would have been turned away.
Great service, the restaurant was packed but the food came out quickly. Food was excellent - definitely plan on coming back for brunch.
Just wait for someone who can give us the bill over 15 minutes
Went for dinner, it was the worst, loud table of people near us, doing business on the phone, also hanging out with the staff. Staff member consistently leaving door open, ( she had a coat on) we were trying to dine coatless. Pork chop overpriced , dry as sawdust, supposed to be medium rare, meat was tasteless and dry! don't go.
food was amazing! will definitely be back. The menu is fairly priced and the food was delicious.
Overhyped, arrogant and terrible service! We have been coming here for a while, but unfortunately our experience deteriorates each time. We waited literally 20 minutes for them to ‘set up’ the free table we would be seated at, standing there with noone coming or going to clear up and set up. Then we waited 35 minutes for 3 lattes, asked repeatedly and were told their barista is ‘backed up.’ We ate the bakery basket, which came cold out the fridge, dry with no drinks. Finally, the kids pancakes came 45 minutes later, with pumpkin cinnamon batter and when we told our waiter the kids pancake should’ve been plain as per the menu, we were told ‘oh sorry they just mix one batter for all the pancakes.’ So basically he took the pancakes back and couldn’t make plain ones for the kids, and he didnt offer anything else and wasnt concerned that the kids had nothing to eat. We basically shared our own meals as we’d been sitting there for 50 minutes by now and the kids were starving. The waiter ran around saying ‘sorry’ to every table for all the delays. The manager needs to talk to some tables and understand that the client experience here is terrible.
I went with my father in a Thursday afternoon. The hostess was rude and unwelcoming. The food was way to expensive for the dishes to be average. We’re not eating here again. Also if you do go, don’t order the poke bowl!
Always a pleasant experience here. Staff are always very friendly and caters to your needs. I’ve been for brunch or lunch mostly but would love to try their dinner menu one of these days
I made a reservation at 1:30pm. We got there at 1:15pm and checked in. She said we are earlier but they will seat us close to our reservation time, which make sense. We ended up waiting outside till almost 2pm! I kept checking on the status and confirm that we had a reservation at 1:30. They just kept telling us we will be seated soon but we have ended up waiting for another 30min past our reservation time, a total of 45 min standing wait since we checked in early. Of course we had a bad mood when we finally got seated. The food was okay. The scramble egg was too salty for me with the smoked salmon and my friends pork belly Benedict was soggy instead of crispy. Our table were not cleaned either. Will not recommend and will not return.
Perfect to bring a date
I really enjoyed this place. I would totally recommend to anyone. The colorburst latte was beautiful.
We had a reservation made thru open table at 1:30 not seated for nearly an hour.
I attempted to call them prior to arriving for a question and they DO NOT answer the phone
They kept on mute!!!
Good place delicious food, the only reason I’m giving 4*** is hostess
Not very nice, had reservation at 12:00 got a table at 12:25
Great time as always!!
Loved loved my Latte!! Food was great as well, especially the French toast, but I'm a coffee lover so I was very impressed! Definitely going again!
Great dining on Sunset Blvd for people watching, outdoor dining, or standard seating in restaurant with plush yellow booths. The food is great with reasonable portions and it's a very calm environment even though it sits on the one of the busiest streets in LA. The service is slow. I've been on multiple occasions and found whether it's weekend brunch or mid-weekday lunch, it takes a bit longer than expected to get food. I say that to say, go when you have the time to spare and just be in the moment with yourself or guests.
The wait time to eat (over an hour and a half) was not worth the experience. The food was very good, but not anything outstanding for the pricetag. If you have a reservation or are waiting, they don't send you a text notification that your table is ready so you are forced to wait outside and listen for your name to be called or wiggle a spot at the coffee bar. I was also double charged for my meal, but they are too busy to answer the phone when I have called to correct the mistake. Great for instagram photos if that is what you want, but the overall value of the meal is not justified.
The waitress on purpose tells me i need to give tips and put a circle on the tip recommendation part on the check. I feel confused why i ve been told this??
