First time. Five stats. Food was delicious. Service was great! Ambiance was nice. Prices pretty reasonable. Nice outing. I’d return to test the consistency.
Food was tasteless. My “filet” looked like a hamburger. It was not a filet cut. Tasted awful. Told the waiter. He asked if i wanted salt and pepper. Didnt offer me a new meal or to take it off the bill. Monkey bread and mac n cheese also tasteless. My husband’s burger meh.
First time back in quite a while due to Covid and TBB hasn't missed a beat! Great tap beer choices and the food was fantastic! Will be back again soon!
Great service and the food was delicious.
Delicious brunch. Great service.
Went for brunch. The food was good. French toast was incredible. Adorable decor. Highly recommend.
This was our first time at butcher bar. We had a reservation but still waited at least 15-20 minutes to be seated, that wasn’t a big deal - food came out really quickly when we ordered. The appetizer portions were surprisingly small for the cost. I thought the monkey pretzel bread would be a great dish for sharing but it was in a tiny bread tin - it also wasn’t in the pull apart form that we were expecting based on the name. I had the game hen and it seemed undercooked, parts of it came apart easily and were fine but other parts were incredibly rubbery and still shiny like raw chicken. It was a large portion but I’d say about 1/3rd of it was inedible (which I didn’t notice until I was halfway through - it seemed one side was worse than the other). My root vegetables were also undercooked. My husband had the boar ribs and they had a lot of fat on top and the meat underneath was tough. 2 others at the table got the royal burger which looked pretty good, not sure if it was a $17 burger though. Another friend got the strip steak which actually looked pretty good. I’d probably give them another shot after restaurants get back to normal staffing levels.
Second time and highly recommend. Definitely not a place for vegans or people who don’t love meat! Try the short rib roast app. 🔥
What a great find on our overnight stop in Philadelphia! It was a great space, great food and great service!
To have a great meal without being super expensive but gives you a solid night out, this is your place. We had the 6oz steak, Korean short ribs, Gouda Mac and cheese, the fries and two of the delicious craft cocktails, and it came out to about 111.00. The meat was amazing, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The 6 0z filet sits atop gorgeous steamed farm fresh vegetables. Definitely enough for two. Environment is fun and the music is great ! Indie, alternative.
I really liked the place. Everything was delicious except for the steaks. I ordered the dry aged ribeye. I asked for medium well and it was rare. I wasted half of it because I cant eat rare meat. I couldn’t send it back because we were pressed on time to go to a show. My wife’s steak was undercooked also. Service was awesome and all the other food was really good.
Even though it’s still on the menu, they don’t have hanger steaks. It’s very loud and disorganized. The food is just ok. It’s certainly not worth the price point.
I have not been to the Butcher Bar since the pandemic. But I had work colleagues in from out of town who like meat and beer so I thought this would be a good option. I was very disappointed! We had terrible service, slow, not helpful, and somewhat rude.
The bacon appetizer which I normally love was just a slab of FAT!. There was no meat on it. Truly disappointing!
The Royal Burger also seems to have gotten smaller since the pandemic.
Still has a great beer list so that was the big plus of the night!~
Please work on your service!
The service was great! The waitress was really attentive and ensuring
Have eaten at Butcher Bar a few times - and always had fun/good experiences. Tonight was terrible from the moment we walked in the door. The place was empty at 4:15 when we arrived, but the hostesses refused to seat us early for our 4:30 reservation.(We arrived early after a sports event at Drexel.). It was understaffed, from the front of the house to the back. The food was ok at best. We will not return.
An excellent bar with a wonderful selection of cocktails and draft selection. Petit Filet was cooked to perfection - deserving of price point - however I wish the selection of sides were included and not an addition onto my your typical “seasonal vegetables”. Spare Ribs were delicious and paired great with the sriracha slaw. The spicy Korean Ribs with a Guava Sour made for a great spicy/sour pairing.
We had brunch at the Butcher Bar and it was fantastic. Great service, good food.
French. Toast. Sticks. That’s all you need to know
Our first rip to Butcher Bar and it sure is about meat. There was a great selection and great quality. Plenty of choices from the bar and the outside patio was a welcome discovery.
Had a super friendly waiter and a great outdoor table to take in the whole area vibe! We started with the charcuterie board and brussel sprouts and cauliflower appetizer. Great Gin cocktails and wine and then had the special of the night, short ribs, grilled octopus and the wedge salad. It was really fantastic. Lots of young people to meet and greet here too.
Not for vegetarians. The meats they have are cooked well, but you really have to take the "Butcher" part seriously. Very accommodating with our semi-outside seating. Huge place -- can bring a group.
Happy hour is boring so as the bartender. Great service and the food was delicious.
The food and drinks were outstanding. Friendly staff!
Great for my first time going! Not sure if the steak was worth the money I paid but the sides, appetizers and drinks were all great. I’ll be back to try out the other items on the menu.
Food was great, everything the table ordered came out hot and delicious. Our server was amazing, she was so helpful and made great recommendations. The building looks small from the outside but is bigger once you come in. The back door dining is really nice and the ambiance is relaxing. They do get busy so highly recommend reserving a table. They get super busy anytime after 6. We arrived at 5 and it was a quieter ambiance.
My only complaint for the restaurant is that they charge you a fee for using your card. I didn't notice until I was home that they charge you the fee before you pay the check and they don't remove it when you pay in cash. Which is odd. It also takes away from the restaurant, it's a bit tasteless to have a charge for paying it gives off convenient store vibes.
To start off on a good note the bourbon cocktails were good. The lamb chop was literally inedible; overcooked oil-soddened breading, grey meat, disgusting. The meatballs were tasty but we're cold in the middle so the cheese stuffing was not melted. The noise was over the top. The table behind us pretty much screamed the whole time, allowing the whole room to share in every word of their banal conversation.
Not recommended unless you are a college student with money to waste.
Everything tasted like the grease trap. This place isn’t what it used to be.
Got a very good sandwich and cocktail. The service and cleanliness was great
We were early for our 10:30am reservation, I opened the door at 10:15am and was asked to wait outside. No one came out to tell us to come in. We were the first table. 3 out of 5 of us are over 50 so the picnic table was not the best place to be seated-I asked for seating with chairs and the girl brought me a chair.
2 orders were placed for the poached eggs. One came out with a big ole hair right on top, the other was about room temp. The haired plate was replaced but was also room temp.
2 sandwiches were ordered and both were basically have a little meat with your giant bread.
The highlights-the bacon was AMAZING and so were the potatoes rendered in some delicious meat fat.
The server was nice enough but when a big hair is on someone's food, you should comp something off the bill. Especially when the tip is included.
I would not return.
they took my favorite item off the menu, the bacon appetizer we got was 80% fat, waiter forgot my wife's drink refill mid meal
Great place to eat ! Great food .. cool atmosphere .. the staff was very friendly. Helium comedy club right around the corner!
For starters - it’s next day lunch time and I still havn’t eaten breakfast because I’m so full!!
Drinks were great, asked our server for recommendations and he had some great options for all of our taste buds!
The service was great, whenever we needed something our server was there.
THE FOOD: was amazing. My group ordered a ton of appetizers and some meals. We started off with the duck wings, cauliflower & Brussels sprouts, and pretzel monkey bread. All three were amazing and I would recommend. Next we ordered the smoked Gouda Mac and cheese, The Italian Meatballs, lamb chops and the Parmesan garlic bread.
This way enough for the three of us to request a bed at the end of the meal. We were so full and so many of our taste buds were delighted. If I had to put our meals in order of greatest to least it would follow this : in my taste buds opinion.
1. Italian Meatballs 20/10
2. Pretzel monkey bread 20/10
3. Smoked Gouda Mac 20/10
4. Cauliflower/Brussels 20/10
5. Duck wings 10/10
6. Parm Garlic bread 10/10
7. Lamb chops 7/10
We will be back for more tastings and to try more things in the menu!
Had a great experience and great food!
Two couples had dinner at Butcher Bar prior to a show at Helium comedy club. Our reservations were for 8:00 and the restaurant was pretty full when we arrived but we were surprised at how much it had emptied out by the time we left about an hour later. The two ladies ordered cocktails, the Westside of Broad and the Peach Blossom, which were very good. One lady also ordered a Butterfly Effect, which she said was good. We ordered several dishes for the table: the sloppy joe poutine, the duck wings, the cauliflower & Brussels sprouts, the grilled octopus, the jerk chicken, and the pork toast. The pork toast was everyone’s favorite. The jerk chicken was a big disappointment. It was sweet and lacked any discernible jerk seasoning. Everything else was very good. We were very disappointed to find out that both the short ribs and the wild boar ribs were sold out. Really surprising considering we were having dinner at 8:00 on a Saturday night. Another big disappointment was the state of the bathrooms. The staff really needs to spot check the bathrooms throughout the night and do a better job keeping them clean and sanitary.
Overall the Butcher Bar was a fun experience being our first time the expectation was high. Unfortunately the food was unwhelming at times, monkey bread served in a pan yet cold and dense to the touch signaling it was old. Mac n cheese in a hot skillet yet the cheese sausce was more room temperature. The ambiance was a blast though, drinks delicious and vibe on par for what you would hope. While I realize they were busy, sometimes pre prepping certain items isnt the way to go if it sacrifices the quality.
Both the food and drinks were great, and the service provided by Arnold was top notch! Will definitely be back
Everything was great
We sat at the patio outside. The waiter was very nice and attentive, and the food was very good.
