Great vibe. Back porch was very cool. Royale with cheese lives up to expectations.
If you are a meat lover butcher bar is definitely worth going to
They were out of the Butcher Board (cheese and meat platter) on a Saturday night at 7:15 p.m. It was the primary reason we went there and a "Butcher Bar" out of cured meats for a charcuterie board seemed odd to us. We got some other appetizers instead. Smoke Gouda mac and cheese excellent...others just average. Cocktails were uneven. One was great but when we ordered the same cocktail a second time..it tasted completely different.
Great place to enjoy incredible tasting food without all the noise and great service!
Good food, better whiskey
The food wasn’t very good, and it was over priced for such bad food.
Food was very good. Everything was well prepared and very flavorful. Desert was a bit lacking but the appetizers and main course were spot on. The service left a bit to be desired. The servers weren't rude but they definitely weren't very warm and welcoming. It felt like they really just wanted to get paid and go home, but hey I was still served properly so it's no big deal.
Great menu and atmosphere. Really welcoming and friendly team!
The mac and cheese was bland and the service was okay but the drinks were great! We were able to eat indoors but because the doors were open, there were flies everywhere. It was hard to enjoy our food and time together swatting and killing flies.
The food here was decent, hangar steak flavorful and tender. Board ribs delicious! Pasta and sausage good. Hamburgers good. Desserts were very disappointing. Bread pudding was cold and dense and not sweet enough. The chocolate chip cookie seemed to be missing the Nutella. The pumpkin cheesecake was just ok.
We enjoyed the casual ambiance. And tables were spaced very well. But the service was pretty low level and rushed. They served dessert before the table was cleared - my husband wasn’t even done eating his main course. The servers reached across us to place and remove plates.
We wouldn’t object to returning, but we won’t be planning a return any time.
First time at Butcher Bar, will definitely be back...I had the duck wings they were really good and the portion was a good size. They have some really amazing crafted cocktails. The patio seating has a good vibe it’s like being indoors and outdoors at the same time. Strongly recommend Butcher Bar.
Was not impressed with service.. though food smelt good and the appetizer we had was the delicious.. at $14 a drink, and $32 for an appetizer, we received service from a counter clerk from Wendy’s.. also picnic tables outside.. go here for beer, and meat.. not on a date..
Another great experience, -this time for restaurant week. The best of the Restaurant Week Menu for our group TLDR was:
Cocktails: The Butterfly Effect and Butchers Punch
1st Course: Duck Wings and Monkey Bread
2nd Course: Royale with Cheese (Cheeseburger), Hangar Steak
3rd Course: Bread Pudding (by far!)
We were seated outdoors in their back area which was perfect for our party of 5. Our server was attentive and gave accurate recommendations after hearing our general preferences. Will definitely return.
The food was good. I was disappointed because I came for restaurant week but they weren’t participating on the day we went but that was not advertised on their website
Our fruit literally came out with mold on it
It was fine. The waiter didn’t seem very engaging or like he was interested in smiling. The food was alright, but the dessert and drinks were well done.
Extremely mediocre, left wondering what happened to Butcher Bar. I've eaten here at least half a dozen times, and it's always been great. In the past it's been big, flavorful portions, fantastic cocktails, and great service.
This time was the opposite of every other time I've been to Butcher Bar. First, the drinks. I ordered a burbon cocktail, the Cigars and Leather. Burbon, Apple Brandy, Cynar, Bénédictine. All that came through was cheap Apple Brandy. Almost no Burbon, and the Cynar and Bénédictine was nowhere to be found. I suspected they had gone light on the burbon so I ordered a city wide and dumped the whiskey into the cocktail and sure enough, it brought through more flavors and made it palatable. Absolutely not worth $13, unless you like sipping apple brandy then you do you.
Now for the food. It was mediocre at best. I got the Grilled 8 oz Hanger Steak, and I will tell you there's no way it was 8 oz. I measure almost everything I eat for dietary reasons so I know what 8 oz of steak looks and feels like. This was more like 5 to 6 ounces, and the side was roasted veggies of which I was barely given 2 or 3 oz of bland mixed vegetables. The steak was actually cooked perfectly (rare) and the chimichurri was delicious.
We also got Pretzel Monkey Bread which we've gotten at least half of the times I've been here. It was noticeably less tasty than the other times the pretzel crust hardly tasted like pretzel. So it was basically just...bread.
Aside from that there was a noticeable difference in the quality of service overall, although our server was good. Everyone working there seemed very low energy, which is obviously not their fault, probably has more to do with the environment and conditions.
All in all I'd say Butcher Bar has had a noticeable decline in quality, very unfortunate as it used to be a great restaurant.
We won't be returning.
Amazing food. Great atmosphere. Excellent price. Absolutely going back.
Wonderful menu on restaurant week!
The food was fabulous. I was to sit outside, but not on Chestnut street. So I asked for a better table. She put me upstairs, but inside. The food was great. After dinner I asked to see the Patio Bar, which is where I wish we would have been. It is so cute. I love it! Next time I'm definitely eating back there!
Amazing service and amazing food. Our waiter Alnord was very funny and respectful and helpful. My only complaint is how watered down the drinks were.
The food was delicious and we loved the atmosphere. We will definitely be going back to Butcher Bar for dinner.
Unfortunately, a mouse ran over my foot while my party was waiting for dinner to arrive. Management was not apologetic. It seems mice are a regular occurrence and they “couldn’t do anything” about the issue. My party saw at least 5-6 mice running under tables.
It was my wife’s birthday and the food was 👍🏾 , customer service was also great. nice people !
For a "butcher bar", the meat was not as good as expected. One of us had a strip steak we sent back because it was cooked over medium well whe we had ordered medium rare. The meatballs were good, the fontina inside is nice.
I would not recommend and will not return.
Great setting good food and drinks
It wasn’t great. We were there for dinner and didn’t like the service so left after appetizers.
During this Covid times it is great to find a location that is no on the sidewalk and have a garden outdoor seating. We were excited to find such a place. Service was really great. The waiters are proactive and constantly in motion. Unfortunately our seat was next to a very windy fan - which they kindly turned off. We sat next to the service bar and the cranky of dishes was very disruptive but once I mentioned it they were mindful - thank you. We were disappointed as the one dish we wanted - boar ribs was sold out. We will definitely go back an try it again
Have been before and loved it this time was completely different. Had a reservation for 7 showed up 5 minutes early was told our table wasn’t ready. We then watch the host sit 3 walk ups without reservations. I asked the host what’s going on they tell me my table still isn’t ready and they apologized. I was just confused why bother making a reservation just to have a walk up take a table. Waited for a half hour until a small table was available. We ordered everything at once since we had the time to review the menu our app was brought before our drinks and the drinks were disgusting. The butchers punch and butchers daughter drinks were absolutely disgusting. The only thing we enjoy food wise was the duck wings the Mac and cheese and Korean short ribs weren’t anything special.
The mac and cheese, cornbread, and bacon are insane
Second time! Ordered the Bar Trough. Delicious. Food seasoned to perfection.
Thank you. This was our favorite Butcher Bar experience to date, even despite the downpour. The cocktails have never been better, and the happy hour food is phenomenal.
Great Food & Good Service.
Food was amazing. The Duck wings are to die for, super delicious
If love meat, you have to try the Butcher Bar!
Awesome service. Loved the outdoor seating. Really great service and that will bring us back! The food was good, but not outstanding. The steak we ordered was wonderful! The meatball appetizer had way too much oregano, which is a shame because the red gravy was tasty and the texture of the meatballs was super. The cauliflower and brussel sprout dish was tasty - there was too much balsamic glaze in some spots and those mouthfuls were too sweet, but otherwise very good. Happy that there's a happy hour, too! Loved the ambience of the restaurant!
Whisky Bar patio was great for outdoor dining. Service was wonderful and food was excellent. Will be back.
my birthday was pretty nice. the lady at the front was really nice and i was slightly over dressed (in my opinion) but the lady at the front eased my stress a lot by saying it was fine and complimenting me and stuff. overall it was really nice and our server was really nice and let us know what was best to get. it was a good experience and i sure will come again
It was my first out since the pandemic hit and it was also my first time attending! I loved it!!!
