The Butcher Bar
From the moment we finally found the door the experience was confusing. The hostess told us if we sat at the bar we probably couldn't be seated later..however our whole dining experience was over in 22 minutes..and the restaurant looked the same as it did the 20 minutes prior to arrival. The Mexican meatballs were dry.. my margarita was tasty but about 2 ounces too short..upon asking the server why that was, he responded that's just the way the drink is supposed to be sorry. Cute spot, won't be back.
I brought my family up here to try the oven-roasted bone marrow. One of the managers immediately remembered me from a previous visit during Center City Sips the week prior (which was amazing since the restaurant was busy). I received the friendliest greeting from him. Don’t remember his name but he has really cool earrings and wears Hawaiian shirts (you’ll know him when you see him) lol. Once we sat down our server Arnold was on top of everything. He was so kind, patient and took the time to actually have a short convo with us, extremely pleasant young man.
Anyways, we ordered the oven-roasted bone marrow which was AMAZING like usual... so succulent and also ordered the grilled octopus confit. The zucchini/onion/tomato salad balanced that octopus extremely well.
The ambiance was amazing, the people are amazing & the food is out of this world!!!
Still one of the best burgers
Food was just ok. Beef was over cooked. Table next to us also sent their meal back.
Food was never less than pretty good, but rarely rose to the level we had expected.
Food and staff were excellent. Prices a bit higher than expected. Atmosphere pretty noisy, but in a fun way. We'll be back.
Great variety of comfort food and unconventional food. Exceptional service.
Ate on patio. Food was delicious. Phillie’s 76 cocktail was amazing. Would recommend.
The food all sounds really great but as a whole it was pretty average. It's a pretty small place inside and we were next for a very loud birthday group of hipsters.
Great experience. Good food and great service. Though on the rather spendy side, I do recommend The Butcher Bar.
My favorite restaurant. Amazing food and the drinks are just as good!
The cornbread tasted like a pancake with maple syrup, but was good nonetheless
We sat near the kitchen and had trouble breathing. The food was not what I would have expected very small portions. I would not go back. You know its small when the waitress suggestions you get something in addition to what you ordered.
Fantastic food ... wow ! From apps to entree ... we loved it !!
Visited for a weekday lunch date. Although the restaurant did not appear to be packed...service was very slow. The wait staff and management were very friendly but it took an extensive amount of time to revive our appetizer and later, our entrees (sandwiches), management was apologetic but had I been pressed for time, it would have been a major inconvenience. Seating was close/tightly situated. The ambiance was great and the food was delicious. Would be open to visiting again but would hope things move at a better pace.
Super service. Very few of the options were that good.
Great food and ambience if not a little loud. Staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend!
Father’s Day and everything was amazing!
Always a good experience at Butcher Bar. Great food and service. A favorite!
Food was just ok and the service from the waiter was very poor.
My father was thrilled when I took him here the first time. He’s already planning his next reservation with friends!
Excellent service, great vibe. I had the Royale cheeseburger, which was good, but I would absolutely try something different next time. Would absolutely give it another try.
The food here is fantastic! We had the nightly special of a whole roasted fish and a menu item steak. The place is very small and can be loud if there are a lot of people inside, but the food absolutely makes up for it!
Yummy! Consistently delicious burgers, sammies, cocktails. Sitting out back is a real treat, you forget you are in the city for a moment.
We had a great time celebrating our anniversary! The Mexican meatballs were outstanding! We loved our bison burger and ribs, we will definitely come back.
Service a little slow and wrong meal brought out.
Despite very good food, the service was so poor that we could never recommend dining here. Our brunch took almost three hours and we were essentially ignored once placing our order. Had to walk out to hostess stand in order to even get our bill. Incredibly disappointing.
Not a good restaurant for vegetarians. Perfect for me! The place smells like grilled delicious meat and has your mouth watering when you 1st enter. It was a great, meaty meal. What else is there to say?
This is my Philly go-to for a nice filling meal. I can easily recommend the duck burger (was one of the specials that night), boar ribs, bone marrow appetizer, and the chocolate chip skillet cookie (in no particular order). It never disappoints - unless of course they’re out of whatever I particularly came in for that evening which has happened. I suggest making reservations as this place gets busy! And if you’re there for a large gathering, be sure to go hungry and order the Trough! It’s a head turned and a belly buster worth trying out!
The best steak in Philadelphia. Hands down!
Great tasting food, amazing staff that don’t seem like they hate their job and I just love the ambiance!
We went to philly for memorial weekend and didn’t really have any expectations. But everything there was awesome. Excellent steak. My only knock would be the grilled octopus. Octopus was shy and the kind of chili with fired garbanzo beans didn’t really go with the dish. Would have been nice to have bread or some starch.
Otherwise great time.
Food is scrumptious especially if you like meats! I went for brunch with family and really enjoyed my drinks and burger. I wish wait service was a bit quicker to respond since we sat outside in the heat. Otherwise amazing experience!
Great! Lucy was wonderful as our server. So pleasant The food was terrific. Love it. Fun place!
Super waiter and delicious food
Only issue no cornbread
This continues to be one of our favorite dining experiences in Philadelphia. Dining late (almost 10) they did not rush us through the menu. The boards were great, as well as their sausages and meatballs. My only criticism would be that if you consider yourself a bourbon bar, then you need to have it in stock. They have a very good selection on their menu, but they were out of a lot.
The food and drink were OUTSTANDING. The hostess was super accommodating and friendly. Very anxious to return. The only negative was the server was a bit argumentative about a special menu item that was listed that night and never acknowledged it later or apologized. It was bad form. Otherwise, a stellar meal and evening.
Took first available reservation for morning. We were on our way to baptism and figured we had enough time. Unfortunately it took about 1 hour to get our meal—eggs and BLT sandwich. Disappointing.
Butcher Bar has one of my favorite brunches in the city. The interior is beautiful and the food is SO good! Great service, too!
We have been there twice. The first time it was quiet and the food was good. This time the noise was unbearable. Two separate parties were so loud that the four of us could not communicate. Granted the space is small and we have been to other noisy places but this was really bad.
Service was excellent, wedge salad good, hamburger royal fine , the wild boar ribs great but the Martini was not good. Would think twice about returning because of the noise.
