This did not disappoint. We're enjoyed dinner with friends sharing the experience for 4 meal. It could have fed 6 people. The potatoes and brussel sprouts were amazing. Enjoyed the sides more than the main dish.

Food was ok. Waitress forgot our wine. Not super helpfull in advising us on what to choose. She defaulted to the sharing for 4 since we were 4 guests. The wine menu is really hard to read and could use a few nice bottles. Will give it another chance. Food was good in the end and we had a good time.

We went downtown to the Holiday Market and I surprised my son with dinner reservations as a thank you. If you like empanadas, you can’t go wrong with the trio appetizer. My son loves the braised short rib and gnocchi entree, while I have to get the salmon. I know you can get salmon at many restaurants downtown, but the seasoning they use makes theirs special.

We went last year with our whole family for Christmas and the service and food was amazing! We planned on going back again this year, so my husband and I went with friends first and the food was still pretty good, but the service was less than adequate. Hopefully it was just a one off experience, but it was bad enough that we will not be going back with our family for Christmas.

1. Very confusing atmosphere; I guessed Turkish man cave theme but we were told Algerian? 2. Mixed drink came half full after the bartender accepted the order saying “I hope this is good”, which is never good 3. Bare minimum service with no real check in’s 4. Best part of the $150 meal we shared, $90 of which was by recommendation of the server, who later stated she doesn’t actually eat half the stuff she’d suggested over an alternative meal, was the free $12 dessert we got as compensation for giving us & our tastebuds such a bad time, which was the second incorrect thing that came to the table… but we just ended up eating about one bite each of anyway… 10/10 would NEVER recommend.

I cannot express how impressed we were with our dining experience. The atmosphere, the service, the food, the wine…..PHENOMENAL! I highly suggest the “experience” option. More food than you could ever eat. We switched out our sides for the asparagus and Brussels sprouts and added the potatoes. All were incredible. Looking forward to going back again and trying the other options as well.

This was my 4th time at The Butcher and Barrel. Every bite of food has been exceptional. If you like the classics, but want to try them with an Argentinian spin, definitely give them a try. With so many great restaurants in downtown Cincinnati, they are at the top of my list.

What a lovely discovery! We dined here before our show at the Aronoff and had an outstanding meal. The food was flavorful and beautifully presented, but somewhat pricey. We thoroughly enjoyed the Short Rib and Gnocchi and the Chicken Napoleon. Service was a bit slow, but we still had plenty of time to get to our show.

We visited on a Sunday evening after a Bengals game. The food was excellent, highly recommend the gnocchi with short ribs. Salad and soup was awesome as well, hearty and hot! The only setback was the service was alittle slow and at the time it was not very busy.

The host was incredible and charismatic. Our server was kind but left us sitting for quite awhile between her initial greet and coming back to take our drink orders. We had to go ask someone else to grab our check. Food was decent. I had the steak milanesa. Beautifully plated but the steak was pretty fatty and unenjoyable. The risotto was delicious. Drinks were not our favorite either. The espresso martini was bitter and a mixed drink came out dive bar levels of strong. Which I guess isn't the end of the world. We were pretty underwhelmed. I wish that one of the food/drink/service was better and I'm sure it would have made up for the others. For the price paid there is better value around downtown.

It was unfortunately just bad. My drink had spoiled orange juice, my steak was all grissle, and my mom who went with me was sick all night. I did not have to pay for my steak but instead of just apologizing they said the cut I selected was known to be chewy. This is not my first visit to a steak house and I know the difference between lean chewy and a slab of fat. There was no can we get you something else just a curt we will take it off your bill. Even the sides were terrible. Will not be returning.

By far the best place to eat in Cincinnati. Food is better than other more well known restaurants in town. Service is always wonderful and the atmosphere is great. Worry that at some point everyone will find out about hidden gem. Until then it’s going to be our only place to dine.

Outstanding service. Very attentive to our table (had 3 kids) brought cups with lids. Instant tip! Friendly atmosphere. Food is always amazing! We have eaten here on restaurant week and regular weeks. Its always the same good service! Chorizo app and steaks are great. The grill for 2 was to die for. My 3 kids loved that. Burger with an egg is one of my go to’s.
