We celebrated NYE at One Dock and were excited about the fixed price menu that we had seen online in advance of our reservation. We had an early 6pm reservation, so the place was pretty quiet. We were seated in the dining room near the bar area per our request as we wanted to listen to the entertainment. However, we were near the front door and every time the door opened we were hit with a blast of very cold air. It's a shame they don't have a way to enclose the dining room to protect diners from the cold. I started with the crab cakes, but was disappointed as they were very salty and had a bit of fishy (rather than fresh) taste to them. My husband's foie gras with quail, however, was very good. For the next course, I had the beets with goat cheese, which was very flavorful and beautifully presented. My husband had the caesar, which was pretty basic - nothing special. For our main course, I had the lobster in sherry cream sauce over pastry and my husband had the duck. The lobster and the cream sauce were delicious, but the pastry felt like an after thought - it was very chewy and didn't really add to the dish. My husband's duck was a disappointment. He said the flavors weren't that great and it seemed to get oily as it sat while he ate. The desserts were also mixed. I had the lemon creme brulee and was expecting a smooth, silky creme, but instead found a coarse lemon pudding. It wasn't that interesting and I didn't finish it. My husband got the bread pudding, and while it was tasty, it seemed more cake-like. Overall, I would have expected much higher quality and consistency throughout for a $97pp menu.
Our mistake - we dined here on Dec. 26th and the staff numbered 2 ! One Dock should not take a reservation when they cannot accommodate the diners. After a wait of 25 minutes we were finally offered menus and placed our drink orders. That being said once the kitchen got out orders were were served on a timely basis. Nice colorful ambiance and our meal was quite good.
We go here quite often-3/4 times a month and love their menu and service.
The food and the service was excellent.
We did not realize the menu for Prelude Weekend was prix fixe, but that was not the issue!
The dining room is open to the bar area and the very loud live music and very loud bar crowd made conversation at the dinner table virtually impossible! We were a party of four and we had to yell at each other to be heard!
When dinner for 4 costs more than $400, that is unacceptable!
The chef needs to push for improvements that would make his/her fine cuisine be enjoyed in a fine dining atmosphere, not a noisy club scene!
The food was okay ... a little bland. Service a little slow. There was a fixed menu due to Prelude, and I thought it was fairly pricy at $75 per person. If the food and service were excellent, price would have been fine. Tables were also very close together.
fixed menu for prelude that wasnt made clear. No optional potato other than mash. When you are paying $75/ head.. there should be options !!!
Much to hot in the room to start with.. fire was on prior to arrival .. many people in the room..
Green beans too much under done
steak tartar appetizer very bland .
My husband and I live in town and go to One Dock quite often. So we made reservations for our friends who were visiting for Prelude weekend to have dinner expecting a similar experience. We were unpleasantly surprised when the only menu they had was a price fixed menu for a three course dinner at $75.00 / person. While the food was very good, it was not at all worth that money - in fact, it probably should have been priced $20-$25 less expensive per person for what was offered on the menu. I was disappointed that there was no communication about their very drastic change in menu for this weekend.
My husband & I thoroughly enjoy our dining experiences at One Dock!! The food and cocktails are top notch!! The only problem we've ever experienced has been with the temperature especially in the wintertime. If you happen to be seated in bar area by front door you will definitely freeze because most people coming in through front door don't bother to close the door. Very puzzling and annoying for your diners!
WE truly enjoyed last Saturday nights dinner and even had my picture taken with a chef I revere ....Chef David Turin. So cool!!
Love the new menu and fish Friday. Everything was delicious!
fabulous service with delicious food and beautiful surroundings. we will make it a point to recommend the restaurant to all our family and friends.thank you
Appetizers, dessert and drinks were very good. Main course was not. Scallops had a strong taste like they were not fresh. Steak auPoive had good flavor but tough and grissly.
Server did not come to table to inquire how everything was or we would have told her how inedible the "steak Au poivre" was and that the replacement French dip which arrived with the non-requested optional cheese was well done when we asked for medium rare. Too expensive for poor food and poor service.
Food was excellent. We both had beef dishes and they were very tasty. The only downer was the service. Our server started out attentive but there was only one other party in the restaurant. As more tables filled up, the service slowed noticeably. There was still only one server for all the tables and the delay to clear the table after the main course was way too long. Nice, friendly guy but got behind the power curve.
Would try it again.
We went for the first time. The food was very good. Full of great flavor! Our waitress was very good as well. She was really knowledgeable and made good recommendations. We shared so we could try more choices. We sat next to the fireplace which was nice too. We ordered a filet and wanted it cooked medium rare which the chef did with perfection. It was a delicious dinner and enjoyable time. We did not feel rushed. We recommend this place and will definitely go back again. It is worth the drive if your not local. The prices are a bit high but the quality of the food is worth it.
Have been loving the new menu -we have been there three times in the last two weeks!
The food was excellent! We couldn't stop talking about how delicious it was. We didn't wait long either, from the time we ordered to the time our food came out. Great friendly services. I would highly recommend and would definitely come back!
Salads were great starters. Chicken and fish were our meals and they were perfect. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Food is perfectly done. A must
We love the new menu and the food was really delicious. Potato crusted cod is my new favorite dinner!
Unfortunately our experience was not that good. The brake need prime rib special was do salty I couldn't eat it and it didn't have the texture of prime rib.The waiter did take it back and asked me what I would like on its place.I ordered the sea scallops which had no flavor except of an iodine weird time of taste. Ver disappointed especially due to the cost. The waiter was very professional and their drinks were very good but a little pricey due to the type of restaraunt it is suppose to be.
Great place to eat, very good service. Are there twice over the course of our three day stay.
The service was excellent, our server was courteous, friendly, knowledgeable and patient. Our food was very good. We will return.
Lovely evening with friends at the Kpt Inn . Excellent steaks and sides; get the banana/brownie dessert!
Cozy and charming, small restaurant housed in a historic inn. Perfectly prepared steaks with tasty topping accompaniments.
Over priced, every table had to return there steak for being cold, we didn't bother as we just wanted to get out of there.
This is a wonderful place to eat. The atmosphere is inviting and the food is excellent. The waitstaff is very knowledgeable and the chef is very accommodating if you have a food allergy. The wine list is great. I love coming back. Highly recommend you give One Dock Prime a visit. You won't regret it.
This is our second visit and sadly we won't be back. The steak was very dry, the sides were all cold and the service was not good. No one seems to care much there. We had trays of food brought out and someone stood there and asked us who had what. Our food was set down and we had to swap plates. Out empty plates and glasses were not cleared so there was no room for new courses. It was just unpleasant.
The steak was very good, as were the salads. However, the sides were over-priced and very salty. Avoid the cream spinach and asparagus.
Asked by server how I wanted my salmon cooked. Never heard that before in my life. I said well because I don't want raw fish. It was cooked to death, dry, bottom chewy and inedible. Rum flambeed banana dessert ordered. Couldn't find the banana, and brownie had dominant candied orange peel (???) flavor instead of rich chocolate. French press coffee absolutely awful. Not able to drink it. Very expensive for the quality of the food. Would never go back.
We had a wonderful evening. It was refreshing to have a meal of very traditional foods prepared just perfectly. The foie gras was out of this world. Loved the menu options. Very comfortable seating, super waitstaff.
The meal was awesome and, so was the service.
thanks we will be back!!!!
The food was excellent....however all sauces and sides were separate, and added to the cost of the meal. (Most places offer one sauce with the plate.) Both the duck entrée and steak entrée were cooked perfectly as ordered.
Our server was attentive and prompt.
We live locally. Our only hesitation in recommending this to friends would be the cost.
My husband and I were on a weekend getaway and One Dock Prime was recommended. The meal was very good and the service attentive.
The only issue is the table for two we had was so close to the next table that when another couple tried to get in to their table it knocked over our glassware- as the squeeze was tight.
It is disappointing to try and have a nice romantic meal and have someone sitting practically in your lap.
Great food, service and setting. This is a lovely old inn with very good food. The locally sourced scallops were delicious. l will definitely try it again on another trip to Kennebunkport.
Decent dinner, some items good, some not so good. (Onion soup). Service was very good.
Excellent atmosphere and service. Food was, for the most par,t excellent and creative. The only exception was my wife's filet mignon. Although it was cooked as ordered, the outside was over charred and not edible.
The atmosphere was more pretentious than the guests or food.
The only reason I gave 3 stars for value is it is hard to justify $200 for dinner for two.
Unbelievable food. Great servers
Wine and drinks and dessert second to none and we were there in a pouring rain storm
The food was excellent as was the service. Highly recommend.
the starters were fantastic. the three main meals were terrible.
I had filet mignon tips that were horrible. My daughter had a lobster ravioli that she could not eat and my husband had lamb that was tough.
the setting is beautiful and the staff was friendly but inexperienced.
