The bar makes the best cocktails using handmade ingredients and unusual blends. The restaurant has an unusual choice to go "family style", which is ordering two things from each section of the menu. The food is excellent but somewhat overpriced. $16 for toasted bread and a dip. the pork chop has restored my faith in pork chops as it was unbelievably delicious.

Brunch at BVR was fantastic! The food was superb and the creative variations on bloody Mary’s were great. The end of the road feeling of Port Costa make the food, service and setting all the more special.

Birthday celebration. The food was fabulous, our waitress was perfect. We ordered family style. We split one delicious Caesar salad, pork chop, the best I have ever had in my life! And local honey over vanilla ice cream with olive oil cake. The evening was one to remember.

The food and service live up to expectations and reviews. It's a favorite for Sunday brunch especially when seated in the patio area. I'm happy to recommend the Bull Valley Roadhouse.

Our server, DiDi(?) was phenomenal. Corinna does an awesome job with those hands. We didn’t get the chance to meet the other chef, but thank him as well for a glorious time out of great food and fun.

Thank you all for taking good care of your Patrons.

Warmly,
The group of 5 who came in on Saturday night!

I love this place!
Prior to our dinner reservation at the Bull Valley Roadhouse, we left Oakland a little early, allowing enough time to meander through historic Crockett and the quaint town of Port Costa. So fun, can’t wait to go back!

This place is for sure off the beaten path, but so worth it. I had wanted to come here for years, but always sort of "forgot about it." We will be back very soon, for sure. The brussel sprouts were out of this world as was the "Mussels with French fries and aioli," which were our starters. I'm not usually a Fried Chicken fan, but this one had me, especially with the biscuits and spicy pepper jam. The favorite around the table was the Risotto with Shrimp, but all in all, everything we ordered was spectacular. I can't wait to return.

Props to the bartender for letting us know they were running low on our favorite dish and putting in our request with the kitchen before they ran out. Excellent cocktails too!

We heard so many good things about Bull Valley and decided to book a table for NYE. The first thing I noticed about Bull Valley was their atmosphere and ambiance; it was dimly lit and full of unique decor. The noise level was perfect for a date, or for a group. The food was absolutely wonderful and the drinks were perfect. My boyfriend and I both ordered the Whiskey cocktail and it gained the approval of both myself and my boyfriend ( I usually like mine a little sweeter than he does) but it was the perfect mix. We really enjoyed our experience and we are already planning our next trip! I would highly recommend Bull Valley for a special occasion, or just a night out!

Great food and ambiance. Good for gathering with friends or romantic night out for two.

Quiet when we first arrived, but noise level increased quite a bit as the restaurant filled up. Slow service. Waitstaff very busy.

Decided against dessert due to length of time for our shared entree (fried chicken and mussels = delish) to arrive (two hours), which was fine for us since we were on a date.

Highly recommend if your not in a hurry :) and want quality, local, food.

I've been eating at the Bull Valley Inn, now Bull Valley Roadhouse through several incarnations since the late 1960's. It is now remodeled with a lot more space but nearly the same old feel. The wait staff was attendant but not hovering. Cocktails were a throwback to a bye-gone era. Food items were huge. For two of us, we ordered one salad and it was more than enough to share. The blue cheese dressing was excellent. My wife wanted mussels but the were out. We had a New York for the table. It was served over a squash puree (not my favorite). The meat was good but not great, not steakhouse quality. Brussels Sprouts were OK. She had a dessert that she said was excellent. Coffee was French Press and outstanding.

Enter here and be transported back a century (or more) — but with way way better food. Likewise the cocktails, many of which are "pre-Prohibition" are both authentic (with ingredients and recipes from the time) but also idealized…and delicious. The menu could be categorized as (vintage) American comfort food, but more delicious than any of those comfort dishes ever were. Great service, good wine and beer list, and in a dreamy little backwater of a 19th century waterside village. Don't be put off by the long windy (and beautiful) drive: this place is worth it.

Although is not hidden in Port Costa since it is in Main street, Port Costa itself is a hidden town. It is worth the drive and You will be pleased once you get there. Even more pleased once you have finished your meal. Bon Appetit!

Arrived an hour early and enjoyed a glass of Grenache at the bar. Good wine list. Our server decanted the bottle of Cabernet we brought while we waited for our reservation. The corking fee was $25. However, if you buy a bottle, they will waive your corking fee if you have brought a bottle. Good option for a group. Food was excellent. Service was very attentive and courteous despite being very busy the weekend before Xmas. The Christmas decorations and historic charm of the restaurant made for a very pleasant experience. Parking cam be hard to find. Be courteous not to block residents driveways. Enjoy!

Wow. What a great experience. The food and drinks were fantastic and the service was SUPERB. The menu is definitely comfort food, but some of the best you’ll ever have. Even the creamed kale was memorable. It’s kind of on the pricey side, but if you go with a group most of the plates are good for sharing. You have to make it through a windy road to get there, but once you have your first cocktail you’ll realize it was worth the trip.

Absolutely stellar experience as usual. Service was so fluid and on point that our dinner time just flew by in comfort. Incredible dishes, excellent craft cocktails, lovely service staff. The fish stew was particularly enjoyable, but the elderflower spritzer is always my favorite. Montenegro with elderflower spritzer? WOW!

My second time here and Bull Valley continues to impress. Pork stew was out of this world. Brussel sprouts were delicious. Risotto was even more flavorful than both. The bar knows how to make a good cocktail! Bartenders all very generous with their knowledge and warmth. You should see one guy shake a martini! They have great gin: Cap Rock, St. George, Automatic... My husband had an awesome gin and tonic with Automatic Sea gin and later an old fashioned. I took a sip and they were the bomb. I wasn’t drinking so I had a fresh squeezed ginger beer called a Saratoga cooler that was equally as good as the cocktails!
