Always a treat to enjoy. Looked forward to their mussels but they ran out. This actually allowed us to try other dishes. The tempur Cod was great. Braised kale and mashed potatoes delicious. Service is always good. Very attentive. All round good evening.

This place is absolutely awesome. The location itself is worth going there a bit earl to experience. It is like time traveling to a parallel aternate universe. The restaurant is in a dilapidated Victorian era building that made me wonder how it was still standing. The interior, however, was stylish exuded a casual elegance from a bygone era. Everything we ate was delicious and perfectly prepared, the service was fantastic. The "pre-prohibition cocktails"and the wine we ordered were excellent. The menu made American Cuisine not an oxymoron. Go! you won't be dissappointed.

Trying too hard with the decor giving the walls a cluttered look and not sure what the big cloud/light thing is above the door.

Very busy with people crowding the doorway. 'Had to stand at the bar while waiting for our reserved table.

Brussels Sprouts starter was too dry, too spicy and too salty. Fried chicken was (too) crispy and blackened in parts. The chicken inside was juicy like it had been marinated or injected. Again, it was too salty and was missing the chili jam or whatever's it was supposed to come with. As they make a big deal of their drinks menu, maybe that explains the saltiness of the food! Mac and cheese was okay, but nothing great. Small "pot de chocolat" dessert thing was presented in a whisky glass and just tasted like a supermarket chocolate pudding. Bus boys constantly lifting plates throughout the meal.

Overall, it has a very limited menu, is overpriced and overrated in my opinion but worth visiting once for the odd location and weird vibe I guess.

Might have enjoyed it more had it been less busy and not had very noisy bikers tearing up and down the street.

This restaurant is one of my favorite for sure. Because it is so different from any other restaurant, we always invite there our friends from out of the aera and are nit familiar with this restaurant. It is a scenic drive there. The menu is small, but there is for something for everybody. We always order the Fried Chicken, which they are famous for rightfully so. It is crispy on the outside and very moist inside. We also ordered the Smoked pork chops. We started with Burrata cheese on toasts and Brussels Sprouts. They were both delicious. The mashed potatoes were out of this world, like homemade style. For Dessert we had the Olive oil cake with Blood Orange sauce. The portions are Family style, so for 4 people you can order 2 entrees and 2 sides and 2 desserts. The service is outstanding. Great classic drinks from prohibition.! Can't wait to go back!

Great food and service! One issue we had was the bill. We were charged $42 for an item on the menu which was listed at$27. Also got two orders of the exact same cocktail, one was price at $12 and the other $13. The price was changed after I luckily caught it on the bill.

Food was fantastic as always, service was not as stellar as previous visits. Nothing serious, but it did detract from the overall experience.

This is one of my favorite restaurants I like the food the atmosphere, to my surprise this past Friday the service was not the best we were seated to share a table with people we did not know and I asked for a table for two which they told me were not available , I walked around the room and most of the tables were empty when I asked the waiter the answer was that it is the system that had the people per table. It is the first time that happens to us this I left very upset with the service, I will return but when I pass the courage because the service on this occasion was not the best.

I was pleasantly surprised that burrata was on the menu, that is my favorite appetizer. Since it was super bowl Sunday the restaurant was not packed. We ordered burrata, pork chops and a pork stew with polenta in the bowl as well as a side of mash potatoes. The portions are enough for two.
Food was delicious as usual and service was better than the last time I was there. It was a great evening.

First time here... from being greeted at the front door, all the fine attention to detail during our meal and walking out, this was top notch service! Great location- you'd never guess a restaurant of this caliber being at the end of this "country road!" Food amazing and cooked perfectly to order, staff so attentive, amazing specialty drinks, beautiful building!

We attended BVR for a late-ish brunch. Both bacon and Corned Beef & Cabbage Hash were no longer available. The food was enjoyable, but I wouldn't consider it 'oh my god I have to go back' good. Dining area is very tight and noisy. We were sat in a small corner that echoed really loudly any time we conversed, the hostess described it as 'a cute table', we disagreed. The brunch menu is really limited, and doesn't seem to offer anything remotely traditional. The roasted macaroni gratin was the hit of our meal, as well as the Bourbon Bloody Bull.

The food took forever to arrive, and we had to ask the waiter several times for our meal. It was the same for the dessert, the coffee cups came, but we had to ask for the coffee. The food was very very tasty, and maybe they were just short on waiters!

The bar makes the best cocktails using handmade ingredients and unusual blends. The restaurant has an unusual choice to go "family style", which is ordering two things from each section of the menu. The food is excellent but somewhat overpriced. $16 for toasted bread and a dip. the pork chop has restored my faith in pork chops as it was unbelievably delicious.

One of the best restaurants we have been to where everything on the menu is delicious and fresh. The historic restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and the service is always excellent. It’s definitley worth the drive into this quaint tiny town of Port Costa where the restaurant is.

Thank you all for taking good care of your Patrons.

Warmly,

This place is for sure off the beaten path, but so worth it. I had wanted to come here for years, but always sort of "forgot about it." We will be back very soon, for sure. The brussel sprouts were out of this world as was the "Mussels with French fries and aioli," which were our starters. I'm not usually a Fried Chicken fan, but this one had me, especially with the biscuits and spicy pepper jam. The favorite around the table was the Risotto with Shrimp, but all in all, everything we ordered was spectacular. I can't wait to return.
