Lovely evening with wonderful food & service. There was a fantastic guitarist playing on Weds when we were there which added to a great atmosphere 1 Will definitely be back post lockdown. Thanks to everyone at The Bull for all your hard work under what are undoubtedly really difficult circumstances.
Food very poor presentation of starter.....
Main course ..... very fatty pork and did not go well with a salad ..... thought it would be better
Choice of food menu was poor
Having had our wedding back in 5th November 2016 it was very disappointing to return !!!!
Excellent service and a very warm welcome. Food was good, although a bit pricey, as were the drinks. The desserts were fabulous. Worth paying more though as it’s a great location and lovely pub. The COVID procedures were good with plenty of space between tables. The service was excellent, but not intrusive. We felt valued as customers and will definitely return. Thank you
Felt the food was very overpriced for the portion size & quality.
Old tatty furniture which let it down.
A favourite venue with a cordial atmosphere and food of usual excellent standards. We will certainly be back after the current problems have passed and The Bull is able to reopen.
Quite an odd experience with a waiter who started off quite gruff, forgot to order our starter and didn’t engender much confidence, especially as one of the party had allergies.
Had a really lovely meal here last friday....the food was delicious service was great and the staff very friendly and helpful
The food at The Bull is excellent. The staff are always friendly and helpful. They are very careful about the Covid precautions. Can't recommend them enough.
Lovely food as always , best roast around in my opinion
Really lovely place to have Sunday lunch. Service was faultless and we have already booked to come again. Food is delicious and great portion sizes. I’ll be recommending to friends and family. Thanks for such a lovely visit.
Everything about this place is great. Except for the food. The food is EXCELLENT.
we returned to the bull hotel for our 1st wedding anniversary as we had married there last year.
service was a little slow but i believe they had another wedding going on as well as the pub/restaurant
ambience like everywhere is poor now that table service is the way it is
but i was very disappopointed in my steak, it was ordered rare but was more medium rare and it was very chewy and stringy, the waiter took it away and didnt ask how it was but by my plate he could have seen hardly any was eaten. its not a cheap restauarant either so was expecting more
we were hoping to make it an anniversary tradition to return every year because our wedding was so lovely there but after Saturday night i doubt we will return
We had a great night and I had the coolest looking cocktail ever (although I couldn’t drink it as it tasted of soap). The service was great, really lovely and friendly.
We had called in advance to let them know we are both vegan, so they created One vegan option but unfortunately I don’t think it was something they’re used to providing and wasn’t really for us.
They also ran out of the beer that my partner liked and offered him one that he couldn’t drink due to the taste (and that is unheard of).
But I have to admit that we really had a fabulous night despite all of this and we felt very comfortable there.
Nice meal in lovely atmosphere. Easy to book online too
Excellent dining experience. Would return and recommend.
This is a place for people who like food, especially meat.
Having said that the Roquefort salad was really good - not just some leaves and a bit of cheese, this salad’s construction had been thought about - with pickled prunes, walnuts and hazelnuts and peas with a lovely dressing. The service is friendly and knowledgeable with a pretty decent wine list. Serve your community and book a table. 👍👍👍
Very accommodating, excellent food will definitely return.
Excellent choice of food, Covid compliance excellent felt very safe to dine there. Guitar playing added to atmosphere. Well done in difficult times.
Lovely food and service.
BUT the interior needs updating.
Great food and superb service. A wonderful tomato soup to start with. My companion loved the BFC (Bull Fried Chicken) while I had the liver and bacon which came with roasted beetroot. We were both too stuffed for dessert. Our dog was shown every courtesy- even to her beef sausage being cut up and allowed to cool before being served. There was a bowl of water for her as well. I will be returning there for my birthday on Thursday. The guitarist was the cherry on the cake. He was a gifted musician.
Always lovely! Feels like such a treat and lucky it’s on our doorstep. The best steak around. Staff so welcoming. The best place to enjoy a Sunday roast too!
Lovey food, good service! Would definitely recommend
a great find and will definitely be back. pretty quiet for a Monday what else do you expect. good portion sizes, very tasty food and the smokehouse section on the menu is very tasty.
very welcoming also
Very helpful when it came to sorting the bill out (eat out Monday offer). The food was brilliant - staff very attentive without being overly in your face. Thoroughly recommend the place.
Lovely attentive service in comfortable surroundings.
Had a very nice meal ,good starters and main too full for dessert, wine and beer also very good would recommend and would return
Excellent food and the service was great, a little quiet dinning in the bar area unfortunately. Would definitely come again
As usual, the food and service were excellent
Spacious restaurant area affords a good social distancing regime. Food prepared to a high standard with attentive service and an attractive wine and beer selection.
Great food and service. Monday night anywhere is quiet, so really good to see a few full tables.
We had the Sunday Roast. Unfortunately when we got there at 4:00pm the pork and lamb had gone. There was still excellent roast chicken and beef. Lovely roast potatoes and a good variety of veg.
Excellent restaurant, service very good and the food delicious! We return every year for our wedding anniversary as we were married at The Bull
Always fabulous service had food from Martin and his team. I’m so lucky to live so close to this place.
The pub serves a fantastic beers from craft brewers and stunning cider from Burrow Hill (Somerset Cider Brandy Company) in Kinsbury Episcopi, Somerset. However, be prepared to pay more than such drinks will cost in central London bars!
Unfortunately, the food did not live up to expectations. A scotch egg (£9.50, whilst containing an perfect yolk, lacked sausage meat (so had gone far too hard) and was accompanied by a very astringent slightly spiced damson ketchup that just did not work. Smoked salmon oddly served on a very thick slice of sourdough (as if it were scrambled egg) was overly salty as if it had been further seasoned or the salt not fully washed off prior to smoking. Abeautifuk looking middlewhite pork chop with a gorgeously thick layer of fat was overcooked and so ended up being rather on the tough side. A Bull burger contained two presumably small homemade burger patties that resembled squashed mini meatballs. The patties were so small they had also ended up overcooked resulting in dry and bland meat.
Finally, from the much boasted about smoked meats I tried the brisket bun (£16). This consisted of pulled brisket slathered in an overly sweet bbq sauce which together could easily have come from a supermarket rather than from a very expensive imported US smoker. Coupled to this the brocket was so hot it was if it had been cooked in a nuclear bunker (or perhaps reheated in a microwave from cold?) Why pull brisket when you can serve it in slices ala Smokestak in Shoreditch, London? One can only assume that the pub is trying to do something with the smoker here that the numbers of covers do not really enable and so have to cook a brisket in advance, pull it for the week ahead and then portion it out to be reheated???
In total 4 starters, and 4 mains came to over £140 with 5 drinks which felt very over priced for the quality of food served.
Had a fabulous meal as always. Yummy hake and sticky toffee pudding. Thank you.
As superb as ever. Sat in the courtyard. Was waited on efficiently. Had the Bull Hot dog which was great. I forsook chips and had the pickled red cabbage instead. I will definitely go there again as I have never had a bad experience there.
Great food and nice setting
Always lovely! Our favourite for a Sunday roast. Especially sitting outdoors in the newly refurbished courtyard. 10/10
I would have appreciated a bit of shade in the tables in the garden. The guitarist on Sunday was lovely. Food was good. A very extensive wine list too.
Absolutely spectacular Sunday roast! Delicious roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese. We had the lamb shoulder and beef, both highly recommended!
