Good first time experience. Ryan did a nice job as our waiter. Suggest the wedge salad have dressing option. Normally blue cheese but we got ranch. Appreciated the birthday dessert. We will be back
The food was excellent and view was beautiful with mountains in the back
All good, I was not dissatisfied
Nice atmosphere. Menu needs more choices. The steak was very good and the branded toast on the charcuterie board was a neat touch.
Good food with a unique menu. Prices reasonable for this level of food and service. Great service. Noise level is a bit high. We celebrated our anniversary and the staff made it special for us. We recommend it.
Anniversary diner! We are considering membership at Oakland and haven’t experienced the facility. Well done. Great view, food, and ambiance other than the loud table next to us but that is difficult to control.
The meal was delicious, the view was spectacular and the service was excellent
Wonderful view! Outstanding food and cocktails. Second time there and just as good as first time!
Excellent sea bass. Would have enjoyed a fresh salad with the bread. Best calamari I have tasted. A little overpriced.
We had another great dinner at The Bugler. Hannah gave us exceptional service. We sampled fried and raw oysters, calamari, Caesar salad, strip steak, filets, double pork chop and sea bass. Another 5* evening.
If you look at their menu with its steaks and seafood tower your first impression might be that this is just like a chain steakhouse. Far from it! The sparkling new dining area with its floor to ceiling windows and views of the Oaklawn race track and mountains in background Is beautiful. Service is first class. Time and attention is spent on the presentation of the food and the little things. We had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and they were great - fresh and very tangy tomatoes, lightly breaded and served with a delicious sauce and no greasy after taste unlike typical “Southern Fried” foods. The wedge salad also a thumbs up. The crumbled blue cheese with its deep flavors clearly superior than the usual blue used for this dish. We had the 6oz and 8oz filets for our main course and they were perfectly grilled. Even though I ordered mine rare, it had charred grill marks on it that gave a just right char taste to mesh with the perfectly rare meat. They must have used an incredibly hot grill. We got them with the complementary cognac peppercorn sauce that wasn’t too sweet nor too peppery. A Goldilocks just right. And then there were the vegetables! Perfectly cooked broccolini, tasty truffle fries and Wye Mountain mushrooms and they were ALL hot - not luke warm. Good to know you don’t have to go all the way to France to find a restaurant that takes vegetables seriously. Had NY cheese cake for desert which was very good but not great, then again I am originally from the Northeast so tough to please. I think the addition of a pastry chef and a desert cart would really fit in at this place. As for beverages there is a good selection of spirits and a good wine list and if you want to splurge there are offerings such as Insignia or some less expensive ones such as Sea Smoke. Finally I suspect many of the good things at this establishment are due to the efforts of the Manager/sommelier Robert. If you go and love wine try to get a chance to chat with him.
We loved our dinner last night. Everything we tried was delicious. We will definitely go back, and cant wait to try more items on the menu. We tried the lobster bisque, lobster mac & cheese, fried tomatoes, and the sea bass.
The next time our family wants a quality experience we will head to the Bugler!!
Wish the sides would have been a little larger. They weren’t (in my opinion) family style.
Staff was wonderful! View is fabulous. Food was really good.
Great place to celebrate a special occasion or a an evening out. Great views and ambiance.
The food was excellent, however, the service especially our server made the experience perfect.
The food was great. They had a Japanese sweet potato with plum butter and it was the best thing I've ever had! Highly recommend
The menu definitely needs a lot of tweaking. None of the entrees appealed to me and I don’t eat beef. My 3 companions also were not impressed with the selection either. They really disliked the 2 pasta dishes. I thought the lobster bisque was just so so and the Caesar salad would have been better with more shaved parmigiana. I did enjoy the crab cakes and the corn relish was delicious. Also didn’t care for the complimentary breads. But the service and ambiance were excellent. I see no reason to go back unless the menu changes. I love risotto but not mushrooms, would have tried the sea bass but I’m allergic to shiitake mushrooms and that’s the glaze. I’m glad there is another upscale restaurant in town and hope the menu will change in the future.
Great dining experience with a beautiful track view!
Drinks with tonic water were not good. Should change to Schweppes tonic. Food was average.
Our food was excellent. Our server Joel was very attentive. Beautiful views. Ambiance. I would highly recommend. Excellent crab cakes. Pork chop was huge. Steaks great. Large portions.
Celebrated our anniversary. Food, atmosphere and service was top notch! Highly recommend!
First time here
Great spot for special occasion
The food and service were both amazing. They had an incredible wine selection. We came here to celebrate our engagement and our waiter greeted us with a congratulations. Great service!!
Ryan our server was spread too thin. While he seemed very knowledgeable and trying to accommodate,he seemed to have more than he could handle. His service teammates picked up the slack and delivered food hot from the kitchen. But we even had to wait for our check.
This was one of the best meals I've had in a long time....My wife and I eat at a lot of upscale restaurants, such as Loca Luna and Doe's. They are very consistent and use the freshest vegetables and meats available and are very well represented. The Bugler ranks right up there with these places, if not a notch above! Our server was very informed and helpful. The lobster bisque was to die for and the filet steak was so tender.....not to mention the sea bass was top notch. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, although we weren't as lucky at the casino.....lol
Thanks for a wonderful meal, Mike & Nancy
Service was horrible. Ordered wine and forgot to bring chiller, just left white wine on table. When waiter realized his mistake he took wine to put it in a chiller but never brought it back to table. Had to ask for wine refills constantly. Never cleared table in between courses, forgot to bring sharp knives to cut steaks. Asked for dessert but never brought it. On the plus side the pork chop was outstanding as well as the lobster bisque. The waiter did try to compensate for lack of desire by bringing us free dessert to go, so I do believe they were trying to make up for the poor service. However, since it was our anniversary the poor service made for a less than memorable experience.
Our party of six dined at The Bugler in mid-May, 2021.
Everything went well. The food was good and the recommendations/service from Heather was excellent.
Be aware that the some of the dishware they have are strange, and some of them are not easy to use. For example, their martini glasses have an uneven rim, and you can only drink out of one side of the glass. Customers who unknowingly try to drink out of the wrong side end up spilling. (We avoided that issue because two people at our table had been to the restaurant before.)
I was paying the bill and thought that the place is a tad overpriced, especially the cocktails.
There are other fine restaurants in Hot Springs that are more reasonably priced.
I suspect that we will still go back there sometime, but will be a little more careful about what we order.
The food was excellent. Service has a lot of improvement needed.
Customer service was great food was great lots to choose from the chef sent out samples while we were waiting for our appetizers. I left full and satisfied. Will definitely be back asap.
Worst service and food wasn’t worth the price ! Waited 15 minutes just for a hello from our server . H
Nice restaurant, great location, good food, a little overpriced.
I had high expectations for this restaurant: I ordered my filet medium and it was brought out well done. Server wouldn’t correct the mistake. Server was not attentive. I left without eating my food. Expressed my concern to the server and he said come back another time with another chef.
My birthday dinner was perfect! The service, the scenery and the food exceeded my expectations.
Our meal was really quite good! They were very good about making sure our dietary preferences were honored. Extremely attentive staff!
Great anniversary dinner. We will be back again!
Overall a nice experience. Servers were a
little overwhelmed but still attentive. The food was good, plate
presentations were outstanding. Wine pours were generous!
I didn't care for the lighting, which took away a little from the
ambience, but the restaurant itself is very well appointed. Starched napkins were a nice touch.
The Bugler was excellent!
Service was great
The sea Bass was delicious, and plentiful
The wedge salad was large and tasty
Cornbread at beginning was delicious!
Lot of attention from manager.
Our family had brunch at The Bugler for Mother’s Day. We enjoyed being there! The staff was attentive and the food was was very good. This was our 2nd time to dine there and we will be back.
