Hostess at the front were very friendly when greeted. Server was pleasant and attentive. Food was fresh and replenished quickly.
Great service too from our server made this experience one notch higher. Ambient "live" music from across the street at Waikiki beach made it additionally enjoyable.
AVOID this place, although we had a reservation on Opentable, it took us over 40 minutes before we were seated. Why even reserve?
For full details, check out my Yelp Review (Addie L) for Buffet at Hyatt Regency.
The waitress was great. Did a good job explaining where everything was. The food on the other hand was subpar. The prime rib was severely underseasoned, the cheese and fruit were warm and sweating, the crab legs were good but the meat was shrunken inside.
Buffet is pretty good. They have special handmade rolls at the sushi station. Last night, they night they had salmon skin and tobiko handrolls. The salmon skin was awesome! They also had steamed king crab legs but the shell was really soft making it hard to open it.
Overall, I would go back here. Ryan was an awesome server and didn't keep our drinks empty! Mahalo Ryan!
Pam provided us an amazing service at the table. However, the lady at the reception desk ignored our party twice upon my request to be seated when we were there on time, at 5:45. This has never happened when I booked through opentable. It was definitely not a Hyatt experience. I am now wondering if this buffet is run by a third party, not directly by Hyatt. I was not impressed with this place overall except the experience with Pam.
The food was fantastic! Where else can you go for "King" crab legs, prime rib, Garlic shrimp, special made to order sushi hand rolls , nigiri sushi & assorted poke in addition to a buffet line, salad bar AND a dessert bar!! ALL of this for $55 per person Mon-Thur & $59 Fri-Sun. Chefs Kelvin-hot line & Johan-sushi were awesome. Our server was Pam & she was great! Even the other staff were friendly & helpful. My out of town guests were very impressed & were very happy with the service, food & view (we were seated on the lanai & had a beautiful sunset view).
For food, great service & value The Buffet @ Hyatt should be on everyone's to go to list!!
There was a good selection of local food, but with a twist. Good to see that the chefs are using a lot of local ingredients and introducing local food to tourists ,but also to the palate of the locals.
Large assortment of desserts.
Seated quickly after reservations made on opentable. King crab legs, prime rib, sushi bar and Hawaiian food!!!!! Impressive. If not for the muggy rainy weather it would’ve been picture perfect. Will eat there again for sure. 25% off for kama’aina!
Food just wasnt high quality, dry tasteless crablegs, kuai shrimp overcooked, steamed fish so-so, but the server was great. Posted menu specifically for fri nite showed tiramisu, dark choc pie, creme brulee but NONE available that nite! Not as good as kai market.
Excellent food and ambiance. Service was great food and beverage director really personable.
First time great food my whole family enjoyed the food and place. We will visit again next time.
Workers are friendly.
We had a great time with our family and friends. Our waiter Karsten provides excellent service. Very friendly
Very disappointing Easter experience.we are great fans of Sunday brunch.Have been to Biltmore Coral Gables(125),Raddison Manhattan Beach($75),and RJs Beverly Hills to name a few.Based on that,$80(69 Kamaina)is a high price for this buffet.
The hotel packed so many tables in that the first one we were seated at was in a walkway with servers and guest jostling the three of us.i asked the hostess to reseat us,15 minutes later someone came and moved us to a nearby table that had been vacant before we were seated the first time.
My wife was served coffee in an obviously dirty cup with a piece of meat on the lip.couldnt find server,so had to get a manager to replace it.o
Other than crab, sushi and prime rib, everything else was fluff.corned beef hash was burnt with CB tasting like cardboard.chef had to know this, but put it out anyway.eggs Benedict sitting long time, glazed over and burned.seafood chowder cold and not stocked.it seemed like no staff were actively watching the line.
Desserts were displayed in a hallway with no sneeze guards over them and hotel guests on way to pool were just helping themselves barehanded.also people coming back from pool were walking through room in wet suits with no shirts.also, same desserts displayed in different places so it gave the illusion of more choices.softserve was not cold enough so it melted quickly on plates that weren’t even warm.
The list goes on.koolina Four Seasons gives much better value for $65.just because you’re in Waikiki doesn’t give license to skimp and charge.$267 including tip for 3 is horrible value for this.im sorry, but this was not a Hyatt Experience
The weather was nice and cool. The table we were seated at was excellent. The entertainment was good—not so loud that we couldn’t hear each other talking.
Celebrating Easter Sunday with family was perfect at The Buffet at Hyatt. Great entertainment, amazing food and awesome service!
The food was great, love the chowder, prime rib, king crabs, garlic chicken, shrimp, pork laulau, and a lot more. Not that much food selection as compared to the other buffet in the island but what they serve was great enough to fill ur cravings. I didnt have a chance to taste all of it because i get full pretty fast but what i ate was pretty good. Gotta have that coconut creme brulee, my favorite!
Great new buffet. Went for Easter brunch and was impressed by the food quality. Good sushi.
Food was o.k. It was bit dry, especially the crab. Can't complain for the Kama'aina price but nothing special. The servers and manager was unaware of the hot sauces boasted about on their website. Don't sit next to the carving station, you'll feel the heat. The restaurant overall seemed more like an outdoor setting because of the heat.
I remember coming here when it was Shor American Seafood Grill. Now it’s called The Buffet at Hyatt Waikiki.
Normally I’m disappointed in most buffets, but family and friends said I should give it a try. Usually buffet lacks freshness, quality, and only in quantity. But I was totally wrong. Best buffet hands down in Oahu. FYI been here twice already, once on the weekend and one on the weekday. What is the difference? Sashimi on the weekends
Monday-Thursday prices are $55. Friday-Sunday are $59 plus kama’aina’s get 25% off. Whoa that’s a steal.
Parking is free with validation, but the parking gets full and is very difficult to drive in the Hyatt’s garage. I suggest you valet or come early and enjoy happy hour at Swim pool bar before dinner.
The Seafood Buffet has your wide range of seafoods including king crab (southern red king crab). I believe they are found in the Pacific Coast of South America. Not to get it confused with the Alaskan King, although the southern King Crab is amazing. Now, for you carnivores there is prime rib cut according to your temperature preference.
What else can I say, the whole spread is amazing from fresh sushi, Kauai Salt and pepper prawns, to different styles of fresh poke. They also have a wide variety of desserts to choose from. Wow Amaze balls!
The servers were attentive and very knowledgeable on all the buffet food that was put out. Bobby the bartender, had a pleasant smile throughout the night ;) Most of the servers are long time employees of the Hyatt from Colony Steakhouse to Japengo. Service and Aloha is always on point!!
Our waiter bob was really good! He made sure our drinks were refilled and made sure we were ok.
Food was really good!
Prime rib was a little tough and braised shortribs was dried out. King crab was small and dried out. They were size of snow crab legs on some but with all the thorns. More trouble to get out of the shell then meat. Desserts looked good but lacked taste. The creme brulee had no flavor. Maintaining freshness throughout the night would have helped quality control. The one guy serving the crab that gave a limited 3 pieces of crab per person didnt pick out the overcooked dried out ones and placed them on my plate. Very disappointed in the quality control, freshness, and lack of taste of their food.
King crab was very good not overly salty like most, prime rib lacked seasoning..laulau lacked salt, fried chicken ono, poke was fishy, fried shrimp ok, desserts meh. service average for buffet
Although we had to wait nearly an hour for our table, it was understandable since the outside tables were unavailable due to the rain. But, I felt they could have compensated us in other ways. Nevertheless, the food and service was great! Lots of choices on different dishes, and it was always filled! Our server (I'm sorry I couldn't recall her name) was just a delight! Very friendly and attentive! Will definitely be going back in the future!
My wife and I had just the best time! It was my birthday and my brother generously treated us out and said for us to book a reservation here :) We made our reservation and it was so easy on OpenTable. Definitely get a reservation because when we got there, there was a huge line!
The service: I wanted to start out with this because the service was phenomenal. Our waiter, Pam, was the nicest and most accommodating waiter I've ever had. She always filled our water, prepped us wet napkins when we were eating crab, she let me sample a little bit of a wine she recommended, the list goes on. Not only that but she paid for my drink because she said: "I couldn't get you a cake for your birthday (which she did get me a little strawberry parfait with a candle on top) so I wanted to grab your drink." I was blown away. What waiter goes out of their way to serve you like that. I was so thankful and grateful for her generosity. I LOVED the experience and the service.
The food: Well it was definitely the best buffet I've ever been to and the selection was huge! I LOVED everything I got and it all tasted like they put a lot of time into each dish. The food was SO good haha so many options and varieties.
Food and service were excellent! My daughter was treated to a free Shirley Temple for her birthday by the waiter. I also was surprised they had a kamaaina (local Hawaii resident) discount. We'll be back for our other daughter's birthday!
Great food! Garlic chicken was great.
Clam chowder was burnt, Stewart didn't know what was burning on the hot line until I told him.
Best dinner buffet ever since Harrahs Lake Tahoe. Food great and incredible variety. Service prompt and very friendly.
The selection of food was great, service was ok, but the taste definitely wasn't worth the price we paid.
Best and freshest poke, raw fish and sushi we've had at a buffet EVER!
This was the first time I've of this place. Looks like it's fairly newly opened. The food options were just ok. I like to try new buffet places and this was just okay for me. I've been to other buffets on Oahu that I think was better as far as food options. The buffet station workers could be a little more friendly also. The host at the front seemed very flustered and it seemed very disorderly when we arrived to check in for our reservation. We had a reservation for 630pm, we didn't get seated until about 655pm. I don't feel that was very acceptable. The person that brought us to the our table was really nice and friendly. There was a person (executive chef perhaps?) going around greeting everyone at the tables asking how the food was, but for some reason, he just looked at us and walked by. For the price we payed, I feel there are other buffet portion on Oahu with better food options and service in the same price point.
The food was excellent, much better then you anticipate at a buffet. Everything was made in smaller portions so the freshness was very noticeable, especially noticeable with the poke and sushi. It was nice that they provided extra condiments so you could adjust your poke to taste. A detail you typically never see at a buffet. I also liked how they featured a salmon skin hand roll that was made to order, allowing them to optimize the crunch and freshness of the salmon skin and the nori.
It was also nice to be able to order from a wide variety of drinks. Most buffets offer a very limited drink menu. The overall menu was also diverse enough, so that you were able to enjoy familiar items as well as try new items you typically would not order. The view and ambiance were also very nice... and the service was excellent! Overall it was well worth the cost and I look forward to taking others there for the experience.
The restaurant was quite noisy, we couldn't hear each other.
Food was delicious. Our server was very attentive. Everything was not only eye appealing but palatable!
