The Brooklyn Diner Times Square Ratings and Reviews
It was decent. Our server was amazing, Sarah, she was top notch. The food was ok. We went for breakfast. Pancakes were standard pancakes, fairly large portions, the smoked salmon eggs Benedict was not very flavorful and average. The problem was, I felt, even for times square, the prices were too high. So, for 4 pancakes, 1 eggs/salmon bene, 2 oj's, milk, sausage side and coffees, we saw a bill around $160. That's a tough pill to swallow. I probably won't go back for breakfast, but maybe lunch or dinner I'll have a better experience.
We were seated promptly, placed our order and then waited for well over an hour to be served. We had to run to the theater because of this delay. No explanation from anyone about the delay. Instead of being relaxed we were all on edge. Not a good experience.
Very happy and impressed that they recognized my note that this was a special occasion and had a bottle of bubbly waiting for us and congratulatory comments for my Father on his Birthday and marathon achievement. Thank you so much to the staff and especially our waiter Joel for being so attentive and entertaining!!😊😊😊
Great pre-theater spot!
Welcoming host at the door- friendly and attentive wait staff.
Great comfort food diner menu including massive chicken pot pie, hot dogs in a blanket, pastrami sandwiches and classic chicken soup!
Nice cocktails, beers on tap and delectable shakes!
Desserts large enough to easily share including coconut cake!
Brooklyn Diner is a retro diner, with all sorts of comfort food. I had the Kale salad with anchovies and chicken paillard (sp?), which was delicious. They gave me about 8 oz of chicken which was a lot and I came out of there stuffed. Just a cool place to go for lunch.
I was really disappointed in the Brooklyn Diner. I had the famous chicken soup and I do not know why it's considered famous. The vegetables in it seemed undercooked and there were not many noodles in it at all. It was mostly broth. Someone in our party ordered the chicken pot pie and had a hard time eating it because it was so thick. Two others in our party ordered cheeseburgers which were good, but overall while the portions are very large, the equally large amount of the bill did not seem worth it for the quality of food we received. I would not go here again.
Outstanding location for pre-matinee lunch in Theater District but we'd love to try it for early dinner the next time we have a show in the evening. My wife and I often come up to NY from DC by train, see a show in the afternoon and then go back to DC. This will become our number 1 place for a lunch prior to the theater. We didn't order it but we saw the chicken pot pie on another table and we're ready for next visit.
