The Broadsheet Bistro, located at 26 St Giles Street in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, overlooking The Royal Mile, is renowned for serving local Scottish specialities with flair. The menu is uncomplicated and presents the very best of Scottish cuisine with a modern twist. Fresh produce from local farmers and other suppliers enhance the depth of flavour of the food. The bistro boasts an extensive collection of wine as well as Scottish, American and Irish whiskies. Customers can enjoy themed dining during festive occasions and special events. Besides breakfast, lunch and dinner, there is also an opportunity of indulging in a cup of afternoon tea with an assortment of confectionery. The modish interior of the restaurant belies its history, dating back to the 19th century: once the site of a newspaper printing press, the site has been revamped into a boutique hotel, Fraser Suites Edinburgh, of which The Broadsheet Bistro is a part.

We arrived for our booked table at 5.15pm we had to wait 10 minutes which was fine, we only ordered main courses as we were going to a show at 6.25pm we chased our meal, which arrived promptly after that, no communication from staff. Ordered a bottle of prosecco - they did not have any chilled! We never received even though they were supposed to be chilling it. I appreciate the festival is on, but the place was not that busy and the service was exceptionally poor. As I paid the bill I told the manager that they had lost money, as they did not serve the drinks, meal was not quick enough for us to have a sweet. He shrugged his shoulders, which was a sham as the food was actually good, we could not enjoy as we had to rush to go to our show.
