One of the worst meals I have ever been served in a restaurant, and cheapest. lowest grade ingredients the have been employed to prepare dishes in a restaurant.
A complete rip-off.
This the first review I have written, but the food at this place was so bad, I was compelled.
We have an amazing dinner whenever we visit The Bristol. We were seated a table just inside right next to the open wall to the sidewalk. This was the perfect spot. We ordered the Brandade Bisque - Scallop, Potato Espelette Pepper; Gem Lettuce Salad - Bagnet Vert, Crème Fraîche Root Vegetable; Amish Half Chicken - Pomme Purée Fall Vegetable Giardiniera; and the Tempura Walleye - Fermented Cabbage Chow Chow. Food was unbelievably good. I thought the bisque and walleye pike were particularly exceptional. Our sommelier paired it with a perfect pinot from Willamette Valley. We will definitely be back (again)!
Great neighborhood spot for cocktails and excellent food
Covid outdoor dining is an art that the Bristol has mastered. Compact but well thought out menu means there is enough variety without overwhelming the kitchen. Excellent cocktails and wine selection. Service is excellent though things are a little slower than in the 'before times' - skeleton staffing over a spread out area. Servers were proficient, well-informed and friendly.
Excellent experience. I will be supporting them through the coming winter in the hope that they can survive.
Won’t be going back. The food was really good, price and quantity not so much. Also, our server was kind of a B. When we asked about a certain appetizer, the response was “oh, ha, thats only on our take out menu, sorry”. Seriously? Wtf does it matter, we are sitting on a busy street in Chicago not in a steak house downtown......... Drinks were good, food was good, but for the price it was not worth it in my eyes.
Food was delicious and service was excellent.
Excellent food and great service
The food was exceptional. It was there fall menu which included octopus and seared duck breast. The drinks were fantastic and our server was super attentive without being overbearing. The food was spaced out in a timely fashion where we weren't rushed nor were we waiting long for our next course.
If you haven't been to the Bristol in a while, hurry back! They have a new chef and the menu is excellent. We really enjoyed our meal. Their social distancing and sanitary practices are also top notch, making us feel comfortable while dining.
Cinnamon Roll was outstanding as well as the breakfast sandwich and Eggs Benedict.
The food here is so, so, so good. I was very impressed - each dish was complex, perfectly balanced, and perfectly executed. I was there with my partner and we split 2 starters, 2 pastas and a main and it felt like the perfect amount. My favorite was the octopus, but the farro risotto, agnolotti and corn pudding were all stand-outs as well. I forget the names our drinks but we tried 3 different cocktails and they were all outstanding.
I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for an understated yet refined setting and a delightful and surprising yet comforting culinary experience.
Way too over priced for what you get and wasn’t worth it
Had a lovely brunch. The Bristol did a great job with safety procedures and we all felt very comfortable!
3rd time at Bristol - love it.... but was seated 40 minutes after reservation time because hostess really didn’t know what she was doing and was only slightly apologetic. Apparently there was a technology error but no one really did anything to make our experience better. Other than that everything else (food, server) was terrific. Hostess really needs options to mitigate situations like this other that looking like a deer in the headlights. Maybe start with ‘the first round is on us.’
Good distance between tables. Good air circulation.
Dinner was delicious - ate 6 dishes and loved 5 of them. Wine and cocktails were super on point.
Great neighborhood spot.
Their food is always excellent. There is enough variety to suit everyone. They have done a nice job of working with an outdoor section that's not necessarily set up for dining.
What a treat! The food was amazing ! The service was outstanding and the music was awesome!! I will be back for sure!!!
The bristol was perfection. The restaurant is very clean and feels like a safe place to dine in currently. The food and service were outstanding.
With the reopening of the Bristol - nothing really changed except for smaller food portions and more expensive plates. Food was not worth the price.
We were thrilled to finally be back at our favorite neighborhood spot, the Bristol! Crystal always takes amazing care of us and the food, cocktails and wine are all top notch!
I absolutely love The Bristol. We are still thinking about the BBQ octopus. Bartender was amazing as well. Always 5*
Thank you wonderful people and great food
Everything was great, trout highly recommended. Out of towners, glad we found this on Opentable as we were unfamiliar with the area. Thanks again!
Fantastic food and beverages. If you’ve been before then you need to try it again. It has gone from being a good restaurant to absolutely outstanding!
Originally had outdoor seating but most tables were curbside construction... not cool. We ate indoors. Food was good, but nothing we felt we had to come back to experience.
Delicious food and excellent wine. Not a flexible menu, nor was it veggie heavy or vegan friendly.
A very nice dinner- great food and wine, as well as excellent service. FYI, Damen is all torn up (as of 8/28/20) so outside seating was a little “dusty”, plan accordingly.
Expensive for smaller portions. Excellent service and ambiance.
The food was amazing and our waiter was super attentive! He also recommended an after spot for us!
Our server made the experience. He was great and attentive. Food was tasty and my husband loved the Old Fashions with the super clear cubes.
The food was amazing. They spread out the food serving so perfectly. Drinks on point and delicious as well. I would recommend this place and will be going back there!
Everything was exceptional in the service department. The menu is a bit sparse and prices expensive considering the size of dishes. Still a great experience. Our waitress brought us glasses of champagne which was such a lovely gesture for our anniversary.
They are in stride , food was delicious, service exemplary.
The food at the Bristol is absolutely creative and outstanding. The portions were larger than we expected. Cocktails were pretty good. We would absolutely eat there again. The only negative is that it is right on a very busy street and with the windows open or sitting outside, it is really noisy (major distraction to a relaxing meal)...and we had to ask to have the music inside turned down twice - it was loud and not good selection for background to dinner conversation. Five-star food in a 3-star environment. We will go back though!
I understand that Covid is difficult for our restaurants and bars. My husband and I take extra effort to enjoy a nice meal when we can with the restaurants we expect will do a good job. Overall the food, cocktails and wine were excellent... some dishes more of a favorite than others. Our evening started a bit disappointing because the staff was reluctant to enforce the 1.5 hr limit for patrons so our reservation for an outdoor table was not respected. After a 45 min wait... although we had a confirmed reservation for a table outside. We waited outside and had excellent cocktails and eventually an exceptional dinner with lots of ‘make it up to you’ gifts from the kitchen. The service from Josh was great and he did his best to ensure we enjoyed our experience. Long story to say, we’ll be back... but hopefully the staff will get used to enforcing rules so every patron feels safe and understands the new rules for Covid.
Happy hour drinks were absolutely delicious and both our meals were great! Got the Halibut & Salmon and we loved them, Will recommend to friends!
Right now they are social distancing so they have some outdoor patio tables. Not terrible but inside is much better if you can get it. Good food / service as always.
Last minute reservation. Very accommodating to find us seating outside on sidewalk. Server was wonderful, knowledgeable and provided good guidance on the limited menu, along with food/drink pairing. Food was tasty. A bit pricey overall for what we had.
Service is a throwback to the days when most restaurants and customers valued excellent service. The food is always spot-on and the new menu is amazing. I will definitely come back to try the rest of it!
