The Bristol Ratings and Reviews
I went to the Bristol this Spring with some friends, and we were (unapologetically) seated 1 hour past our reservation time. The staff was rude, and didn't care we were waiting for an hour. I decided to give the restaurant another try this weekend, as there were several times available for Friday night on opentable. Again, we were unapologetically seated 45 minutes past our reservations. We were not offered any compensations, no manager came by to say sorry for the wait, etc. We weren't even able to get a drink at the bar while we waited, because those were considered "reservations only" seats. I will not be coming back.
We really like the Bristol, brunch & dinner. We did have some trouble last night though (Monday). We got our usual two raviolo’s with monkey bread, delicious as usual but did not arrive hot (neither the raviolo’s nor monkey bread) just kind of tepid. Delicious, but disappointing; it’s usually so consistent. We tried the spinach foie gras; we could only taste the spinach. We also tried the apple salad—nice dressing, but the arugula(?) lettuce was clumsy, stemsy. We split the burger as an entree, very good. And we both had elderflower cocktails, delicious as usual.
So, overall, a good visit, but we felt they were missing their game a bit. Even the waiter explained the spinach foie gras as a lapse of the chef—that it was usually much better. Of course he didn’t charge us for it.
Been meaning to get there for a long time - finally went to a wine dinner there and were very impressed by the evening so we returned for dinner with friends. Excellent service from Elliott and all dishes were first rate - loved the raviolo and the chicken, but the steak tartare was great too - as was the endive salad.... they have corkage free days but you need to check as the policy/day was recently changed - this is a great choice for collectors wanting to BYO and still have great food!
We had the steak tartare, chicken liver, duck fries and ravioli and 2 delicious cocktails ( FYI half off before 6:30) I would go back just for the duck fries, the crispiest fries I ever ate and the chicken liver pâté. Steak tartare is served with pork rinds doused in paprika, orange chettos like powder, I did not care for it, and for me it took away from the tartare, we asked for toasted bread instead. Not great for intimate conversation, small tables put very close together, but I would go back as a pre movie quick bite.
Been here many times for brunch and dinner. Love everything I've ordered (except the burrata, but I feel like it takes a lot to impress me as far as burrata is concerned). Especially love the coziness near the fireplace on the 2nd level, the wine, and the farm-to-table sourcing.
Hosted 3 out of town guests, 2 of whom are vegan. Server Kelly and Chef Joel went out of their way to meet their needs. All four of us delighted with the food, the attention , and the overall experience. (I chose my personal favorites--Black Diamond cocktail and Raviolo.). Love the Bristol!
Had a great server with just the right amount of speech time, presentation, and anticipation. My girlfriend was satisfied and we had a great time- will defeinitely go again.. perfect quantities to share between 2 peoole. We got there early & a few things took a bit more time to prepare, but really appreciated the directness and clearness of the server letting us know what is happening with our food.. which in turn gave us more time to try out different cocktails! Thank you Ms. whoever you were. It was a pleasure dining with you serving.
This was my second time visiting Bristol. The food was delicious, per usual. I did notice some of the menu options changed. I was looking for the microgreens & apple salad and the mini donuts, but both were removed from the menu. Nevertheless, my son and I found items which were very satisfying. He and I shared the cinnamon roll which was...OMG...delicious! I ordered the chamomile tea which was a great accompaniment. It was so buttery and almost custard like, as it was rich, dense and soft at the same time. the icing was gooey and sticky, just the way I like it. My son ordered the Chicken with Biscuit & Gravy. My son is not one easily impressed when it comes to food, but he was very pleased with his meal. I was able to get a forkful before he devoured it. We had a great time all around.
We went on a whim and it was such a wonderful surprise. The food was amazing and the wait staff was fantastic and their recommendations were right on. The atmosphere was lively and noisy, it's perfect for a night out with friends. Do not skip dessert and splurge on the Basque cake...I would go back for that alone!
The Bristol is a short walk away from me. I love coming over with a friend or my son to sit and eat at the bar or sitting at a table downstairs. The food is great! Small menu but everything is really good! The drinks are just as good and the service is wonderful. I always feel very well cared for and know that whatever I order, I am going to love it!!
