Cost far outweighed the experience. Extremely loud, slow service and average food.
Made an 8pm reservation. Had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated. We were seated in a corner and essentially were placed sitting WITH the loud girls directly next to us. Each time a waiter served the two girls, he squeezed himself between our tables and theirs, practically sitting on our table. Food was good, but not great. Wine was perfect.
I was pleasantly surprised with our first experience. There wasn't a plate that hit the table that I didn't enjoy and the drinks were well crafted and timely. Our server was attentive and engaging from start to finish and was prepared for all questions that were asked. We left knowing that we will definitely return to try more.
Very clean simple plates that taste outstanding the best pasta I ever had cacio e Pepe very good and the fries are exquisite
Great brunch, the basque cake is amazing. Had the salmon with a bagel, delicious lox. Great friendly service, food came out quickly. Awesome place for brunch.
Disappointed with the very long wait, over 45 minutes from my reservation time. Staff handled better than most but took almost 20mins till it was addressed.
And unfortunately some of the pasta was delivered lukewarm to the table.
Simply AMAZING!!!! Food and drinks were fantastic. They were running behind with our reservation so the manager gave us free Prosecco, discounted our wine, and gave us free pasta dishes. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience and we did. I cannot wait to go back!!!
My wife and I went for a date night. The only reason I am giving it 3 stars is because of the wait staff and the service. The people were very nice and accommodating. However, we did not get seated until 30 minutes past our reservation time, we stood at the bar and it was so packed that we were constantly ping ponging around. The food was so salty, it was basically inedible and my wife found a hair in the burrata. Just a bad experience and we won't go back.
A little close for comfort
First visit. Delicious, well prepared and presented food with pleasant, efficient service. The restaurant was extremely busy EARLY on a Saturday night; even so, an issue with one of our entrees was handled quickly with grace and sincerity. The space has a modern, yet historic decor and (in my opinion) a few too many tables/people, though most patrons seemed to relish in the energy. The ricotta ravioli was sublime; the white fish delicious. We will return.
Food was only ok, maybe it was because we had the last reservations but it wasn't great. Also, if you are closing at around 2pm, maybe don't allow 1:45pm reservation in on OpenTable. The waiter informed me they close at 2pm when I got in and from then on my table felt awkward like the whole staff wanted us out of there.
The food and ambiance was FANTASTIC! The lead bartender was super informative and made the best old fashioned I’ve ever had.
Wonderful!! We were celebrating an engagement in our group. They brought Prosecco and dessert on the house. The food was incredible!
We loved everything, with the exception of the duck, which I found to be very salty. The monkey bread with dill butter sauce was exquisite, as was the crab pasta and the steak tartar with cheese crunchies (wow!)
The hand-crafted drinks were super-special. I had the black diamond, which I wish I could enjoy every single evening for the rest of my life.
I always enjoy the service at the Bristol. They are always attentive and make sure you get everything you ordered in a timely manor. The menu is not the biggest around but they know how to specialize in everything they put on their menu.
Great drinks and friendly staff.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. We were nervous bringing our 3 year old but other parents were there as well
This was our second time there for Sunday brunch, & again, they didn't disappoint. We switched up our orders, only got the basque cake rather than the whole pastry board, skipped the sides, because we knew there would be more than enough food. The eggs benedict was amazing, a generous portion & the ham slices were enormous! The root veggie hash was also a great choice for savory comfort food. Service was top notch, as always!
Food was overpriced and only so-so. The cheese appetizer was served with Saltine crackers. Definitely not worth the price. Adorable ambiance and great potential if improvements to menu are made
We had dinner with Mike our server and we had an excellent time. Everything from starters through dessert was truly wonderful, the butter braised chicken was absolutely spectacular. The service was attentive without being over the top. My wife and I brought friends from out of town and we couldn’t have picked a better spot. Thanks to the staff for making it a special night.
I very much enjoyed my evening with friends at The Bristol. My only complaint, and I know I'm a bit intolerant in this area, is that the prices are too high. I understand the costs of running a restaurant, but dinner for four was upwards of $250 (including tip). That may be the going rate, but it's enough to keep me from returning. Apart from that, the food was good, the service was great and the company I kept was superior!
Good food. Good service. Quite loud. One of our few recent brunch experiences that we'd go back to.
This was a spectacular night for us - every little thing was on par - food service and the staff went above and beyond. We left feeling like rockstars, full and happy!
Be sure to try a new cocktail that will hit the menu - ask Pablo for his new smoky scotch creation - insane!
Thank you Bristol for such a wonderful memorable evening!
The Bristol always has an amazing selection of food and drinks as well as impeccable service. Their brunch is delicious and they have one of the best cinnamon rolls in Chicago!
Tables are too close together, so there is no privacy.
My friends and I took a road trip to Chicago from Ontario ! This was by far our favourite restaurant that we visited! The food was outstanding, our server was fantastic and the energy and decor were great ! It’s the perfect size establishment with close seating which we enjoyed! Made it seem very social ! If I’m ever back in Chicago I will be back !
the food was excellent and our server Michael was great.
The food service management taste everything was superb
I’ve been going to The Bristol since they opened, and I always marvel at what value it is to the Bucktown neighborhood. The food is exceptional, the service is it outstanding, and the atmosphere is comfortable. It is a gem, perfect for most any occasion!
Great service, great food what more do u need for a great night out
Liked the drinks, the food is uninspired and looks better then it tastes. All looked good until the food tasting. Not just my choices, I also shares with my friends and all of us were disappointed because we really like the place and the ambiance.
Extremely noisy. Very difficult to talk. Unpleasant in that regard.
Other than the upstairs being pretty loud, it was a great experience.
The service was slow because the restaurant was packed.
We had an amazing brunch & Mike was an extraordinary server. The food was top notch, even the leftovers on day 2 were amazing! Fun neighborhood spot, amazing menu, great atmosphere!
Possibly my favorite restaurant in Chicago! Get the monkey bread + raviolo.
lovely duck and duck fries, generous serving of greens (collards) with the duck; great cocktail; appreciated that the waiter let us split a glass of (nice) pinot. Not our first visit and we'll be back
We were seated on main level. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. We brought our 6 month old along and the staff had high chair ready and helped us to our seats.
The food was fast and flavorful. We would definitely go back.
Recommend the duck confit it was excellent. We shared several things at the table. Other favorites included the striped bass the mushroom risotto and the duck fat fries were killer!!
