Waited an hour past our reservation time to be seated. We were not the only reservation waiting that long. Host and hostess began seating people based on how persistent and frustrated customers were vs when their actual reservation was. Once we were seated, food was very good (bucatini and halibut). Host gave us free champagne and comped one desert to make up for wait. Overall, I would try again during the week when it’s less busy. Food is worth going back for.
I was wondering
The drinks were amazing. We had three rounds of the kronos club.
Amazing service. Amazing concept. Made my friends birthday truly a dining experience to remember.
Was a delicious treat in the middle of the week for dinner with our fighter and her boyfriend. Tasting menu is highly recommended! The asparagus soup and the scallop ceviche were so delicious! Wine pairings were fun and interesting as well.
Absolutely amazing. One of our favorites.
Service and food were way over the top. The sweetbreads dish is the best thing that I have eaten in quite a while. Well dun Bristol !
Overpriced for decent food. Good cocktails, fresh ingredients but no taste. Bland IMO.
The tasting menu was fantastic and the service impeccable! Outstanding experience.
Definitely a great ambiance. The food was incredible but we were more blown away by the serve and the wine pairing!
Awesome experience on the heels of the pandemic. Great food, service and atmosphere. Great way to celebrate our anniversary!!
Anniversary dinner, got the new tasting menu. Amazing value, servers were delightful and the chef sent us a muse bouche, champagne, and a special dessert from a personalized printed menu :) Every dish was excellent save the pasta, which was a bit grainy and bland. Amazing short rib, salmon, ceviche, salad. We'll be back for sure!
Every element of the experience was perfect. Each member of the staff made us feel like we were friends of theirs, and they were all super knowledgeable and attentive. The food was simply fantastic - we ate every last bite of all the many dishes that we ordered. Rarely do you find food plated so beautifully that actually tastes even better than it looks. The octopus and the tagliolini are must trys. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience and cannot wait to come back!
It was my bday and we always try pre fixe course dinners so we have an experience. We decided on Bristol and it was FANTASTIC. The food was amazing, every morsel, the service was above and beyond, and the crowd was well balanced. Our server was super nice and attentive and manager valeted our car on last minute notice. The value of the experience was phenomenal, compared to Alinea or Acadia, but the food was not lacking quality! And the cocktails were just so yummy!!! I would recommend the Tang if u r a citrus lover like myself. And the special bday sparkling wine service was just cherry on the top! Thanks Bristol for an amazing birthday, and we will return often!!!
We celebrated our 10 year anniversary here and it was truly a beautiful time. The staff was so friendly and the food was sublime.
The tasting menu with the wine pairing is amazing. Great for date night.
Visited once. Was excited about the menu. They had an off night due to how busy it was. Long waits for food and service. The food was very good. I hope they work out the kinks.
The 7 course tasting menu was FANTASTIC! So complex, beautiful and delicious...I felt like I was on top chef! The staff were very attentive and while there was a bit of a wait between courses it was a lovely experience!
The tasting menu was outstanding! Get it! Enjoy it! Love it!
Best dining experience in the city of Chicago to date. Every dish was a work of art. Every taste was mind blowing and not a morsel was left. Every table touch by the staff was timely, friendly, knowledgeable, and welcomed. Murphy absolutely crushed it. Chef Larry is a true culinary artist. Bravi tutti!
Chef Larry Feldmeier did it again! A meal of perfectly constructed fine dining in a friendly atmosphere. BRAVO.
No response after repeated calls and emails re a request from one of our guests. Very expensive mains, certainly for the size: $28 for a single softshell crab over lettuce, $36 for a very small piece of overcooked halibut. Grilled octopus was outstanding, and the green tomato soup was unique. Interesting cocktails but trying too hard to be clever. Some unique wines. Spotty service--missing plates and silverware. And when the server asked about aversions or allergies, one of our party received a dish that came with an ingredient they had asked to avoid. The 7-course prix fixe looked very interesting, but $75.
Came in not knowing anything about the place and literally the best experience we have had in a restaurant in a very long time. Food was excellent, service was attentive, good cocktails and a interesting wine list. Can't ask for much more than that. Murphy was our server and he was wonderful.
Truly spectacular dining experience! We all ordered the new Spring Tasting Menu and were blown away by how flavorful, well executed, and beautiful each dish is. The Bristol is a reminder of why we all love restaurants and the role they play in our lives. Cannot speak highly enough of the food, ambiance, and service. Can’t wait to go back!
The service was off, took an extremely long time to get drinks.
Prices are expensive for what you get.
The food was good, ordered the octopus, which tasted great but was tough.
Pasta dishes are good.
Halibut was so so.
Short menu and over priced
Honestly one of the best nights of dining my fiancée and I have had in a very very long time. All of the food was absolutely delicious and the service was top notch. Nathan on the wine team went above and beyond to make our night special. Already planning our next visit. Cannot recommend more!
I am gluten-free and I don't eat red meat, so my review of this restaurant is heavily colored by my personal dining experience. I went with a group of 4 - the other 3 diners were interested in ordering the prix fixe menu. The entree offered with the prix fixe menu is the lamb (I don't eat read meat) so I was not interested. Unfortunately, the restaurant requires the entire table to order the prix fixe or doesn't allow anyone to order it. I tried to reach a compromise - the restaurant will sub the tempura soft shell crab for the lamb but that's not gluten free; they won't sub any of their other entrees (even the ones that are cheaper than the lamb) for the lamb or tempura crab, even for an up-charge; and they wouldn't allow me to just order multiple courses so that the pacing of everyone's meal could be maintained. I understand why restaurants do this but I was disappointed that a restaurant at this price point couldn't be just a little more flexible with us. We eventually all chose to order a la carte and the timing of our meal was off - my partner and I received our appetizer and our two entrees at the same time our dining partners received their appetizers. We waited until they received their entrees to eat ours, so I'm sure it wasn't as delicious as it would have been had we eaten it fresh out of the kitchen. The food was very tasty and we enjoyed everything that we ate but all in all, I would say that the price of our dining experience did not match up with either the food or the service. I would like to note that our server was incredibly knowledgable and kind and seemed to do the best he could to accommodate us - my issues with the service were more of an issue with restaurant policy and restaurant expediting than any issue with my server. I would probably recommend this restaurant to a friend who has no dietary restrictions or preferences as a special occasion meal.
We've always loved the Bristol, but now with a whole new menu it's even better. Delicious drinks, great food. Loved the lamb. Can't wait to go back.
Chef Larry is a genius. Get the tasting menu. End of story.
Food, ambiance, and service on point at this Bucktown staple
We had a delicious meal—four adults ordering from the a la carte menu and two kids who ordered from the kids’ menu. We had the octopus, soup and asparagus salad as starters; risotto and another pasta and two orders of crab + two orders of halibut. It was plenty of food and generally well seasoned, although the risotto seemed overly salty for some. However, the service was really poor for the hefty overall price of $500. Strange multiple questions about order of plates to come out; forgetful of drinks, which were tiny cocktails; not enough silverware for all. Maybe we just aren’t used to fine dining again as we ease back into things, but the price + mediocre service made me think cooking at home isn’t so bad.
Really excellent meal, service, drinks. I was asked if I want sparkling water and I said yes,
Then billed $10, and also $10 for a coffee (which was really good but.....
The kitchen ran remarkably behind, and we saw very little of our server. The main course (on a menu where the waiter indicated the menu was designed to be 3 course and asked for the order to be entered in its entirety up front to help with pacing) took over 90 minutes to be served.
The prices are shockingly inflated, portion sizes are on the smaller size of reasonable (particularly for main courses), and overall the quality and composition of the dishes was lacking.
I had the lamb entree, which was mediocre, the gamiest lamb I have ever had, and the sides were just unpleasant. A friend had the octopus, which was oddly flavored and somewhat off-putting texturally.
Ultimately, with 16-dollar cocktails included, a celebratory $250 meal for 3 was nowhere near worth the price.
Always warm and welcoming and wonderful! Spring menu is deeeeelish!
Very disappointing. I’d blame the server if she wasn’t working 14 tables, but the little time we got with the server wasn’t that helpful either. Got a butter knife for the lamb. Hosts were charming and I hate to bash when the server was running the whole floor. Just disappointed. Also risotto wasn’t cooked.
Not sure what the new concept is hoping to achieve, but whatever they’re trying to do, it wasn’t working for our group. The decor says warm and homey, the food says, you’ll need a second meal at home. Not joking, we all went home and ate. We’ve been Bristol patrons since the beginning and we won’t be back until the old menu returns. Chicken, duck fat fries, apple salad...you are missed: (
The Bristol provided a really nice date night. We chose the Prix Fixe menu with 5 courses and every course was delicious. Highly recommend The Bristol!
Always spectacular. Make this our go to for Easter brunch every year.
The food was delicious. The drinks were awesome.
Amazing restaurant week menu- the food was amazing, great cocktails and the service was perfect! 10/10
