The food and service was excellent as expected and experienced in the past. It is worth the expense for special occasions. Was surprised with all the empty tables for a Sunday brunch. Will definitely return.

This was the only time we have had poor service and food at this restaurant. All our other visits were wonderful. This time, the service was slow and poor. We did not make it past the scones on the tea, but these were of very poor quality. The clotted cream looked like melting ice cream, the strawberry jam was a chunk with no strawberries in sight. And, the basket that should have had items for 4 persons only had food for 3. One of our party got tepid water for the tea. The wait staff seemed very anxious and hard pressed. There were excuses for everything that happened, not a good thing. We left at this point and will not return. I can't remember when we have ever done this at a restaurant.

our dish was salmon with spinach, etc The salmon was hands down the best I have eaten thus far Crisp on the outside but so creamy and moist on the inside, delicious. The greens were also very good with a mild sauce?? can't remember the name, breads and pastries were tasty, could have eaten more, didn't ask nor were they offered. Wait person was very amiable. We enjoyed our time there and look forward to another visit. this was my first visit, husband had been there several years earlier with his first wife (died in2013) we have been married 2 yrs.

Briarwood Inn is always excellent. We were there to have Christmas Eve dinner. We were a bit surprised that at 2:45 in the afternoon, it was brunch we were served. It was good. Next time as I make a reservation on a special occasion like Christmas I'll pay closer attention to which menu they are serving.

I understand they are a special occasion restaurant or an events place. Sorry about that.

Super disappointing. The service is amazing as always, however the food was very disappointing. The Briarwood has lost its touch for amazing food on this visit. I was served cold coffee the pastries were very ordinary and the prime rib was not so prime. It seems as if the idea of them just catering for special occasions has left them with that unremarkable catered food realm. So , so disappointing.

Expensive but worth it for a special occasion. Beautiful presentation of the food which was scrumptious. Beautifully decorated for the holidays. Quiet enough to easily have a conversation with your company.

For 27 years the Briarwood had been the measure by which other fine dining was weighed. Unfortunately that is no longer the case. Christmas was a magnificent event but is now done with as a sloppy afterthought. The Dickens event seemed more like an excuse to lure the unsuspecting for what was a sub standard buffet. Actually the only difference between the Sunday evening buffet at the Briarwood and Golden Corral was the lack of a chocolate fountain. Gone is the personal touch and the elegance of a generation past. It is obvious to us that the younger generation of ownership has decided to focus on cost/benefit rather than tradition. Granted the evening was advertised as a buffet, but still there is an expectation of excellence that was missing.
Needless to say we were greatly disappointed and would gladly have spent twice as much to have the Briarwood experience that we have come to expect. Gone is the tradition and flavor. Denver has lost a true gem of the culinary arts. The only bright spot was the service of one of the wait staff who took the time to attempt the attention and respect of old. It is truly a sad day. It goes without saying that we would not recommend dining at the Briarwood as there are far better experiences to enjoy in Denver.

Special occasion which was ruined by the fact that nowhere was it said that this was a buffet. We first dined at Briarwood 40 years ago and new the owner (Reed Pascoe) personally--many special occasions over the years. So disappointing to see it deteriorated.

We left before being served.

So disappointing! I have been going to the Briarwood for over 25 years. We plan a special family dinner for the Christmas holidays and love to hear the Dickens Carolers. The buffet was new to us, we have always ordered from the menu in years past. This was the worst selection for a buffet I have ever seen and certainly not worth $45.00. Everything was over cooked and cold. The prime rib was good but no horseradish or au jus. We had dirty plates sitting on our table through most of our meal. I can assure you we will not be back and we will certainly not recommend the Briarwood. How sad to see such a wonderful restaurant fall a part.

I was a long time fan of the Briarwood Inn and was very surprised when I heard they were changing to an event center. After my recent visit however I was very disappointed in the food and the service and would never consider them for any events. My reservations were for 4:00 PM, for the first seating of the Christmas buffet. At 3:45 PM the doors were still locked and we were told they were still setting up. We were not allowed to enter the building or wait inside or in the bar. After standing outside in the cold for quite some time and well after 4:00 PM we were finally let in and seated. The buffet was located in a side room that was very dark. The appetizer selections were very limited and because it was so dark you could not tell what most of it was. They had an adequate selection for the main courses, however the vegetables were cold and under cooked, the chicken and salmon were over cooked and very dry. However I did enjoy the prime rib and shrimp. The service was very slow and they obviously did not have enough servers to wait on the tables. Our group had to continually flag down passing servers to request needed items; drinks, butter, condiments, and even salt and pepper. The dinner plates were never cleared until we requested they be taken away and we than had to stack and pass the dishes to the server. The dessert trays were delivered prior to the dishes being cleared and the server never offered to refill our drinks or bring coffee, tea or after dinner beverages. Overall for the cost, the dinner and service was very disappointing. We did enjoy the Christmas carolers but the Christmas decorations appeared to be very old and in need of dusting/cleaning. Sadly this was my last visit to the Briarwood Inn.

The food was very innovative and the presentation was outstanding. It was served on warm plates to keep the food warm while we dinned. It's a place to go for special occasions. There is a good amount of room between tables and dinners are not packed together like cattle in a cattle car. Very elegant dinning rooms. We will be returning again.

I really wanted the Briarwood's December Afternoon Tea to be wonderful. I've been to this restaurant many times before it was changed to an events venue this fall. It was always one of my favorite places in the Denver Metro area.
This past Saturday I went with a friend for the tea. The venue was decorated for the holidays and lovely as usual and our server was very nice. However, the food was not good at all.
The scones were overcooked and cold. The fruit and soup were only fair, the chocolate dessert was edible, but all the other items served on the 3-tiered tray were poorly displayed and tasted awful. It was a disappointment and not at all worth the $42 cost!! Such a shame!

Worst Tea I have ever experienced at the Briarwood and I have been there many times. I asked for a table easy for handicap. They gave a soft chair that my dining partner could not sit in. The tea was bitter after the 1st cup and this was true for two separate pots of tea. Soup was cold. Sandwiches and desserts were underwhelming. Wait staff did not speak about anything being served. Save your $90 for 2 for holiday tea and go somewhere else. Sent same info to new owners with no response. I will never go back for tea (or any special event) at the Briarwood.

We went to a wine tasting/super club event. Their first one. The Food was amazing and the wines were incredible. I would highly recommend it. The chef came out and talked about the pairings. Her food was amazing and her personality a treat. I would highly recommend going to the next event.

We come to Briarwood for various occasions and Saturday afternoon tea. This was a great addition to holiday festivities that are not the norm. The food was really good. The Dickens Carolers were fun to hear and watch. Great night for relaxing and being together. Definitely will do it again next year!

We have gone to the Briarwood for the past 7 years but the place is now under new ownership. There is no longer a menu, just a buffet option. The food was Luke warm and tasteless. There were very few items and it was $45. We will not be going back again. The only positive..the Christmas singers were nice as always.

I’ve been here three times in the last two months and every time the food has been fabulous but the service was not very good. We sat at the table for ten minutes before anyone came over, waited twenty minutes for salt and had ask multiple times for water. The food and the atmosphere are worth a visit but for how expensive it is the service should be better.

I have been going to the Briarwood restaurant for over 20 years and have always thought it the most beautiful venue for dinning that I’ve ever been to. I have had many meals there over the years and have never missed a holiday season brunch. Part of the charm has always been that when you left you felt you had been pampered and very well fed.
Outstanding service from the waitress and the busboy. The hostess was not friendly or accommodating.

I was very disappointed during this visit. Since there is not room here for all I have to say, I am sending the Briarwood my complete review by snail mail.

We went for the Dickens Christmas Carolers and dinner buffet. Only good part was the excellent singing. Food was cold and disgusting, tiny selection, terrible presentation, dip without crackers, over-priced, $45 buffet and only water included, server put the tea strainer stand which is supposed to sit on the table inside my teacup and then poured tea on it as it sat in the bottom of the cup which I then had to fish out. We also had a bad experience at the Witches Tea in October this year which included bad service and cold tea. Also, they never answered the phone or returned voice messages. Very disappointing and these are traditions we're sadly going to discontinue.

We were sad that the Briarwood closed its regular restaurant, but glad they opened for Christmas-time with the Dickens Carolers. The buffet was good, including appetizers (shrimp cocktail, an artichoke dip, and some of their regular spreads although I missed their liver pate), salad, prime rib roast, plus salmon, bison short ribs, chicken-something, vegetables, and garlic mashed potatoes, and deserts. All but a very few items were gluten free.

The very talented carolers completed the evening as a perfect beginning for this Advent season and a welcome reminder of past Christmas celebrations at the Briarwood.

My husband and I had a first date there, 20 years ago, and have returned every year, whenever we were in the country, to celebrate our first date and our wedding anniversary. Many times we have brought clients there. About 3 years ago, we noticed the food and service was not the same quality. We began to dine at The Broker, downtown Denver. This year, again, I made reservations, as we had last year, for the Witche’s Tea. Even though we all agreed the service was slow, and our server was rather rude last year, we understood, with it being a busy day. So we were looking forward to returning this year, with reservations at 1:30. I was shocked the parking lot was so empty when I arrived at 1:25. Nevertheless, when I arrived, some of my party had arrived a bit earlier, and I joined them. We were in costume, and enjoyed each other’s company, however it was a good 15 to 20 minutes after I arrived that we were seated. There were plenty of empty tables. We ordered our tea, and then were told, 10 minutes later, that they had run out, so, we re-ordered another. The luke-warm soup arrived, and was the most disgusting French Onion soup I have ever seen. The sandwiches were skimpy, not much filling, mostly dry bread. The French macrons were dry. We had to ask our server for champagne, as it was not was not offered. The service was slow, the sweets were of marginal flavour, but we ate what was offered, as we are not ones to complain at the table. That’s very tacky, but I will say the cupcakes were delicious. I was embarrassed to bring my friends to such a lovely setting, and it is sad to say, but the dining experience did not live up to the gorgeous ambiance. I wish you luck as an Event Center, and hope the service and quality improve. Hopefully, as you progress in the Wine Dinners, we will be following the comments and reviews, and would love to dine with you again. I wish you luck, for we love The Briarwood.

I was called the day of the reservation and told that due to a power outage, they would be closed for the evening. The restaurant happens to be on my way home, so I drove in around 30 minutes before they were supposed to be open. I saw at least 10 cars in the parking lot, and someone getting out of their car, who looked like they could be waitstaff. The lights were on around the front door.

Sure didn’t look like there was a power outage or that they were closed...

This was my first visit there and not impressed. There are other restraunts I've been to and spent less money, better quality food. The food was bland, it seemed like someone bought the restraunt, kept the name and opted for lesser quality food. My girlfriend has been at the blairwood numerous times before the announcement that they were going to just accommodate functions. We both were highly disappointed. I don't mind spending good money on a very good quality meal. Without being lengthy, it was a waste of time and effort.

After going to the Briarwood for 16 years, I can say that this is the first time I have been disappointed. We recommended this for celebrating 2 birthdays. One couple had never been before and this was the second time for another couple. The food was under lukewarm and one lady had to ask for the coffee to be served hot -not tepid. Our praises of the Briarwood to them were certainly not met.

We have always enjoyed this during the Holiday Season and are disappointed that we will not be able to see the beautiful decorations this year. This has been our destination for taking a group of managers for the last 6 years as well as our personal pleasure.

OUR GROUP OF FOUR DECIDED TO INDULGE ONE LAST TIME AT THE BRIARWOOD BEFORE THEY CLOSED AND TURNED INTO AN EVENT CENTER. SHOULD HAVE RECONSIDERED. THE SERVICE, MEAL, AND ENTIRE EVENING WERE SUCH A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT AND I CAN SEE WHY THEY ARE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS AS A RESTAURANT! HAD RESERVATIONS AND TOOK QUITE SOME TIME TO GET SEATED IN THE FIRST PLACE. THEN WE WERE PUT AT A GIANT TABLE WITH A LOT OF NOISE AND NO ONE CAME BY US FOR A GOOD 15-20 MINUTES. FINALLY WE FLAGGED SOMEONE DOWN AND ASKED FOR SERVICE AS WELL AS TO BE MOVED TO A SMALLER, MORE PRIVATE TABLE BY THE WINDOWS. WERE TOLD OUR FIRST ROUND OF DRINKS WOULD BE COMPED AND THE SERVICE WOULD THEN BE STELLAR. THE SERVER HAD A CANDY STUCK IN HER TEETH AND HAD TO EXCUSE HERSELF. THE WHOLE MEAL TOOK FOREVER TO GET. SOME OF THE ITEMS WERE NO LONGER AVAILABLE ON THE APPETIZER TRY. THE LOBSTER BISQUE SOUP WAS NOTHING BUT COLORED WATER WITH SOME SMALL CHOPPED RED PEPPERS IN IT, NO LOBSTER AT ALL. AND THE RIBEYE WAS TOUGH, THE FILET VERY SMALL, AND THE LOBSTER ENTREE BARELY EDIBLE. WE DID NOT ORDER ANY DESSERT AND LEFT FEELING ROBBED. WAS TO BE SUCH A WONDERFUL NIGHT WITH OUR DEAR FRIENDS BUT WAS JUST A BIG UPSET. AND TO BOOT, THE BILL WAS WELL OVER $300. IF THEY WEREN'T CLOSING THEIR DOORS, I WOULD SUGGEST THEY FIRE THEIR STAFF INCLUDING THE CHEF AND START OVER. BE LEARY IF YOU CHOOSE TO HAVE THEM HOST A SPECIAL EVENT!
