The disappointing part was that the lamb burger isn't great (we both ordered that). The fries, however, are outstanding. We also had the grilled cauliflower, which is delicious.
Good drinks, great service, and a nice atmosphere.
Hip spot, open late, great food and service. Nice to know something like this exists.
I would recommend with the proviso that it is a very limited lunch menu. But what they have is good
The food is excellent, but in the last few years, service has fallen off markedly. We were made to wait 15 minutes for our reservation, only to be seated at a table that was empty (and set for guests) the entire time we waited...
An amazing meal. Every bite of food was perfect.
Food was mediocre at best. I was looking forward to a great meal. Really dont know why it gets good reviews. The restaurant atmosphere is cool.
The Breslin feels small, intimate and cosy. The menu's delicious comfort food reinforces that (you don't go to The Breslin to eat salad...) as does the friendly, attentive service that makes you feel relaxed and looked after. It's an oasis of indulgence in the midst of the madness of midtown. So if you're in the need for some feel good, an escape from the chaos, head to The Breslin and heave a little sigh of relief.
The restaurant itself is worth seeing; it's located in a very old building and most of the furnishings are original. We liked the Caesar salad and mushroom soup (which was unusual and good). The seafood sausage could have been delicious if hadn't been overly salty (the opinion of two of us who ordered it). Unfortunately, service seemed to be off that night. Three of us got our appetizers well after the other two had finished their appetizers. After that we waited a long time for entrees. If we had not waited so long for the overly salty entrees, we would have sent them back. No one apologized for the salt level or the poor service. Music was extremely loud.
Lamb burger to die for. I order it medium well because it's normally (way) too raw for my tastes. Coupled with the ACE hotel & Stumptown, a New York must experience.
Brilliant but noisy with bad music
Absolutely love this place.
As before, a lovely meal and very attentive and helpful service. The lamb burger, Scotch egg and caesar salad are top favorites, but many other items ares tasty as well. You can't go wrong here.
Always fun atmosphere with good food.
Good upscale British/Irish comfort food. The scotch egg and creamed corn were delish! Love the energy in the dining room and the team approach to service.
When we got to the Breslin for our reservation they told us the kitchen was closed and that someone was supposed to have called us to let us know. Nobody called so we had to go elsewhere. Extremely unprofessional. Very disappointing
Always fun, great food and cozy atmosphere.. looking forward to my next visit
Love this place, though I wish it were a bit quieter. The bar in the hotel lobby makes for a very loud environment in the restaurant. The food is amazing, definitely recommend the scotch egg and lamb burger.
Wonderful service supper drinks and nice wine selections and I will recommended to my friends who works in the neighborhood as very convenient to be with the client and family as well.
Traveled to NYC and this restaurant was recommended by a friend. We decided to go before seeing a Broadway show. We told the server we needed to finish by a certain time. Our food came quickly and was delicious. We liked it so much that we returned for the weekend brunch.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the English pub atmosphere - nicer tahn most English pubs and I lived in England -
the eggplant parmigiana sandwich was superb even though it was different from what was on the website and I was charged the same price as on the website though the menu said 24 instead of 17!
and I asked for the Von Trapp Pilsner on draught and thew waiter said they were out of it but he knew where he could get it and went to the lobby bar and he got me one and it was delicious!
I asked for more of the delicious chips because my friend wanted to eat most of mine and they brought more - ditto with the crème fraiche on the blueberry and almond tart which was delicious
would definitely go back
Food was outstanding, but appetizers took over ten minutes to arrive, and entrees were almost an hour from order. I am going to chalk this up to the Thursday before Labor Day Weekend and try again because the food was truly inspired, and the ambience was great as well.
Great food, nice vibe, very welcoming both times we went (with and without reservations). Servers Tre and Alex were attentive, friendly, and helpful. The seafood sausage was incredible! Good place to chill over a meal or drinks.
Good spot to meet and eat.
Good food. Relaxed atmosphere. Lacklustre service. Bit sloppy. Coffee spilled in (brown) saucer which we couldn’t see until it dripped onto our clothes.
The Breslin is such a great place to visit. It always feels like family members are making your meal and they really care whether you're enjoying yourself.
Wish there were some options for vegitarians
As an out-of-Towner, I’ve only been to The Breslin about three times over a few years. Every time I’m there, it meets my expectations and remains consistent. Great place to eat some elevated comfort food in a warm environment.
Very poor service stands out as my biggest complaint. Made an 8:00 pm reservation 2 weeks prior to visit date, confirmed reservation day before visit, table was not ready until 8:20 pm. Waited 15 mins for water and waiter to take drink order. Waited 2 hours for dinner to come to table with very poor communication by waiter and manager.
Bar drinks very good, a bit pricey at $15/drink.
This restaurant was recommended to me by my son who is a restaurateur in Rochester, NY. Very disappointing visit.
We stumbled upon this fun bar on a Saturday afternoon. The service was great. The food (seared tuna sandwich) was amazing!
Fun atmosphere. Definitely go here!!!
Wait staff completely ignored us. Gave us a hard time despite no one wa in the location to sit at a cramp table which we ultimately just moved ourselves. Order took a significant amount of time. Food was mediocre at best.
Late night dinner, very solid food.
My grown children and I met at The Breslin late in the evening after my son and his girlfriend had a long flight cross country to come stay at The Ace Hotel. We were greeted with the most friendly and simply outstanding service we’ve ever experienced! The summer heatwave had blanketed the city with a heavy layer of oppressive temperatures and humidity making it extremely difficult for the kitchen staff to continue to cook in the sweltering heat. The heat was so bad that days earlier a blackout had happened due to increased demand to use air conditioning. Challenging situation for the restaurant. Our host, however, never missed a beat and when we walked into The Breslin, he was a breath of fresh air with his upbeat attitude. He had us all smiling, laughing and seated in a New York minute. First impressions say a lot and I’d say that The Breslin is the perfect escape from the city streets to sit in a comfy atmosphere and share a meal with family and friends while being catered to by genuinely caring and attentive servers. The food and drinks were delicious and we can’t wait to go back again!
Limited lunch menu but the food was good. Very cool atmosphere. Specialty drinks were delicious.
I enjoyed the atmosphere. It was quiet enough to have a conversation without asking my companion to repeat her statements. Kudos to our server. He was charming and most informative regarding the food and the reason for the name of the restaurant. Having had the Lamburger, it was of excellent quality and I enjoyed it. The chips were delish and the sorbet was of excellent consistency and taste!! I have already recommended The Breslin to my friends.
PS - Being so close to the LIRR, it made my trip from Long Island very easy.
Menu too limited. No changes at all. On professional wait staff. Not accommodative
Great food and service. It is loud, so if you are looking to have a more serious conversation, choose another place. If you are looking for a fun, hip place with great food and service - this is it.
Would not need to go back.
Our brunch meal was comped 100%. We tried to leave a tip on a card and asked that they ring up a coffee so we could do that. They never came back. That should tell you all you need to know.
