My food came out cold. My wife’s “3 dollar per ounce” pork was mostly fat. No one came over to see if they could do anything
We were given a cozy corner table, and hitch allowed us to have quality conversation during this special family dinner. Our burrata app., lamb burger, black bass and pork chop entrees were all exceptional. Service was thoughtful and attentive. Ambience and noise level were perfect for fun atmosphere but still able to converse. Well worth waiting for this bucket list opportunity!
The best lamb burger
The host was a bit rude or just inexperienced. We were arrived a couple minutes prior to the kitchen opening and prior to our reservation and we were standing right in front of the host for a couple minutes. We were not acknowledged until 1 or 2 minutes after the kitchen was open for dinner where we were asked to “please take a step back Incase others need to get through.” Which is a fine request, but generally you say hello first, especially when a group is waiting right in front of you for a few minutes. My wife had the lamb burger, about 4 years ago and has been telling how great it was. It was good but not great. It was a smaller burger patty than she remembered with a huge bun. Way too much bun with not enough burger for me. Also her sea bass was very fishy. The apps were very good, we had the liver, burrata and scotch egg. Also there fries are quite excellent. The waitress was nice and service was good. Nothing spectacular, but good. I probably won’t go back given the cost of the meal which is standard New York prices vs the value.
Would have liked my lamb burger a little more cooked. Otherwise, excellent meal!
Breakfast at the Breslin was a perfect for a business meeting , great service , amazing food and quiet overall in the restaurant. I highly recommend it.
When I have friends in town, Breslin is one of my favorite places to go. Nice ambience, very entertaining, service is excellent and food is great! I suggest the lamb burger, fantastic!!!!
Very creative menu
This is a nice little gem located in Chelsea. We went there for breakfast with 4 small children (two couples). The service was excellent, and the quality of food and craftsmanship was very good. A little pricey, but it is Chelsea. The decor and ambiance was classic PUB style with a beautiful wooden bar. Great place to grab breakfast.
Front of house staff was disorganized. Waited 40 mins past our rez to get sat. All dishes were vastly over salted.
Food was terrible, waiter had no idea what he was talking about
It’s true just like other reviews —- long wait for the food. Took more than half hour for one dish. Waiter is not bad as other reviews. But the food waiting time is ‘abnormally’ long for a general restaurant. Also, the saltiness level is high which I agrees with other review.
The lamb burger is back to its consistently extraordinary standard! There was a little fumble a year or two ago but all is well again. The breslin is the perfect place for a good comforting and high-quality meal in a chill setting with great service. A tried-and-true favorite that doesn’t disappoint!
Overall we had a great night with close friends and enjoyed the food. With that said, it would have been a better experience if our waitress was at least 20% interested at being at work. For a festive, expensive Friday night out, a little conversation and attention is not too much to ask for. We could hardly get her attention and then she would walk away before we even finished asking questions. Should never have to be that way.
Mmmmmmmm sooo good and tasty.
Terrible service . Literally forgot to put in our order . Then lied that is was almost done instead of telling the truth and we waited for 30 more min and even then our order was not complete . Brutally rude .
I so wanted to love this place! But I did not. The music was way too loud (and just awful). Great for the bar but not an early dinner?!? Can’t you turn the speakers down in the restaurant area? Service was incredibly kind but incredibly slow. Had to accost our waiter to finally get the check and get out the door. The food was ok. Love the decor. Not on my repeat or recommendation list.
Brunch on Sunday - Super packed, super loud, super touristy, far too expensive for what they are serving and all of this would be okay if the food was good... unfortunately, it was not. Save the trip and get a bacon, egg and cheese from a NYC food cart instead.
This restaurant was the perfect place for brunch on a misty cold New York day. The decor is that of a Victorian eatery, with dark woods, clubby furnishing and cozy seating areas. We felt transported in time while enjoying delicious food that embraces current trends of inventive combinations of fresh vegetables and grains. The lamb bacon was outstanding. I have gluten and dairy allergies and they were able to accommodate me. The entire experience was restorative and wonderful.
The waitress was a bit snippy. I ordered my lamb burger medium and it was raw in the middle. She said “thats our medium”. This point should be explained upon ordering not after someone takes a bite. They remade it and it was delicious but everyone else had to wait and their food got cold. Also, the veggie selections are all saucy or cooked in fat.
My girlfriend and I booked The Breslin on a recent trip to New York, and we were overjoyed with every aspect of our meal! The sommelier helped us pick and wonderful Portuguese bottle to share. My lamb was cooked perfectly, as was her sea bass. Both were wonderfully simple dishes (for once) but were still executed with great skill. We were left savoring every bite. Our server was quite aware that we were out for a date and left us alone to talk and enjoy the meal rather than hovering over our table--5-star staff!
Having traveled through New York extensively, there are very few institutions where I would (and have) become a repeat customer. The Breslin joins this list. Thank you!
Suitable seating selection for dining at this restaurant is poor- both times we’ve been there we were seated by the door leading to the Ace Hotel lobby - this time a band was setting up in the lobby and was extremely loud. Sitting in a passage way for dinner is not enjoyable - there are only three booths and they needed to be booked in advance. Food was good, service acceptable, but ambiance - no.
Terrible policy of demanding full order placed at once. Couldn’t order one dish while we thought about it. Not even oysters, really? Snotty waitress and overbearing buspeople
I was excited to go back to the Breslin for the lamb burger. I was disappointed. Just not as good as I remember it being, not as flavorful and the roll was dry. One of our friends had the chicken...and she said it was also a disappointment.
The disappointing part was that the lamb burger isn't great (we both ordered that). The fries, however, are outstanding. We also had the grilled cauliflower, which is delicious.
Good drinks, great service, and a nice atmosphere.
Hip spot, open late, great food and service. Nice to know something like this exists.
I would recommend with the proviso that it is a very limited lunch menu. But what they have is good
The food is excellent, but in the last few years, service has fallen off markedly. We were made to wait 15 minutes for our reservation, only to be seated at a table that was empty (and set for guests) the entire time we waited...
An amazing meal. Every bite of food was perfect.
Food was mediocre at best. I was looking forward to a great meal. Really dont know why it gets good reviews. The restaurant atmosphere is cool.
The Breslin feels small, intimate and cosy. The menu's delicious comfort food reinforces that (you don't go to The Breslin to eat salad...) as does the friendly, attentive service that makes you feel relaxed and looked after. It's an oasis of indulgence in the midst of the madness of midtown. So if you're in the need for some feel good, an escape from the chaos, head to The Breslin and heave a little sigh of relief.
The restaurant itself is worth seeing; it's located in a very old building and most of the furnishings are original. We liked the Caesar salad and mushroom soup (which was unusual and good). The seafood sausage could have been delicious if hadn't been overly salty (the opinion of two of us who ordered it). Unfortunately, service seemed to be off that night. Three of us got our appetizers well after the other two had finished their appetizers. After that we waited a long time for entrees. If we had not waited so long for the overly salty entrees, we would have sent them back. No one apologized for the salt level or the poor service. Music was extremely loud.
Lamb burger to die for. I order it medium well because it's normally (way) too raw for my tastes. Coupled with the ACE hotel & Stumptown, a New York must experience.
Brilliant but noisy with bad music
Absolutely love this place.
As before, a lovely meal and very attentive and helpful service. The lamb burger, Scotch egg and caesar salad are top favorites, but many other items ares tasty as well. You can't go wrong here.
Always fun atmosphere with good food.
Good upscale British/Irish comfort food. The scotch egg and creamed corn were delish! Love the energy in the dining room and the team approach to service.
When we got to the Breslin for our reservation they told us the kitchen was closed and that someone was supposed to have called us to let us know. Nobody called so we had to go elsewhere. Extremely unprofessional. Very disappointing
