The cocktails were wonderful as usual. They have several talented mixologists. It is one of the few restaurants open downtown where you can dine after the symphony or the theatre. The small plates are just right for sharing an appetizer and the cuisine is a lovely blend of Jamaican dishes. drinke and cigars on the patio are an extra treat.

Memorable cocktails, excellent food. Eat outside if you can, the noise level inside can get a bit unruly.

A rum bar and upscale Jamaican restaurant, this was a good experience.

Cons: -Small venue that was popular; reservations highly recommended if you want a table
-Noisy! There is no real sound dampening. At half full it was difficult to converse. When full, it was implausible. I recommend reserving an outdoor table if the weather permits.

Pros: -Excellent food with good plating, balance of flavors, and focus on sourcing.
-Excellent drinks and cocktails. Don't bother with beer or wine and order a mixed drink.
-Friendly, attentive, and polite service.

Absolutely wonderful. We are always skeptical with restaurants claiming “authentic Caribbean cuisine” as my husband is from Jamaica, but all of our dishes were delicious. Service was top notch. Our server Isaac was personable, knowledgeable and quite attentive. Other servers were on top of things as well - refilling water glasses, bussing empty plates, etc. We will be back! Oh, drinks were outstanding as well.

Too much noise. Food not up to old standards for this restaurant when I visited last year.

This restaurant is excellent. Located in a nice area of Phoenix on a quiet street. There is seating outdoors. Food is gourmet Jamaican. Excellent blends of flavors. We ordered the salmon and pork and split the dishes. Really yummy! Service was excellent - always filled water glasses and helped us select our entrees.

The Breadfruit and Rum bar is our favorite island-gem in the city. The food can only be best described as authentic Carribean and it is worth the drive. (no plane tickets necessary.) The bartenders are obsessed with libation creations and TBRB has one of the most spectacular collection of fine Rums in Arizona. The food is expertly described and prepared with local and organic farming suppliers. The shrimp and Johnny Cakes are full favor, while the banana stemed fish and game hen have blended flavors, packed to the brim and served, HOT. Isaac is by far, our favorite waiter and will not steer any first timers, a-stray. The dining room is intimate with soft steel drum playing in the background adds to your an island adventure. NOT OPEN ON SUNDAYS. Great place before a show. Im booking the boardwalk for my next cocktail social!

This is a great little place downtown the ambiance is really nice. Because it’s a small place though it can get crowded and loud but there is outdoor seating if you want a little quieter area. The drinks are fun and they have rum from all over. The prices are definitely on the higher size but the portions for the mains are decent. We ordered some of the appetizers and I they seemed small for the price. They are definitely made to split between two people and not a larger group.

Awesome food, drinks, ambiance. Highly recommend and will go back next time in Phoenix. Sat at the bar and got the rundown from the incredibly knowledgeable bartender of the drinks (all rum based) and the food. Mostly locally sourced ingredients as well as very fresh fish. The rum old fashioned is super smooth. The bar is a wall of rum. The spicy shrimp small bites and fried plantains were amazing. The chicken stuffed cabbage was also very good. Though after the spicy shrimp, the entree flavors were almost too subtle to appreciate. Maybe go for something more robust for entree if you have the spicy shrimp for appetizer or something less spicy for the app.
Hard to get out of there without spending over $50 a person unless you don’t have a drink or appetizer. Music was nice also (not live).
Also fairly small so would recommend a reservation (Open Table).

Great location and ambiance, food was good, and waitress was nice but rude judgy hostess. We all arrived on time but the hostess wouldn't seat our party of four because my husband was on a call. He was standing outside so as not to talk in the restaurant so we all needed to wait until he was off his phone to be seated. All of us. And she was rude. So we won't be back. Too bad because the restaurant is super cute. But who needs to be treated like a fifth grader?

We've been here several time for special occasions. Food and drinks is are always great. Especially the drinks. Last time we left still feeling a bit hungry after drinks, an app, 2 entrees and dessert. Just seems to have smaller portions than we remembered. Overall still love it.

If you don’t like rum drinks, you’ll miss half of what makes this a great experience. A great selection of craft cocktails with island flavor. Food was delicious, portions were filling, but not lavish. It was a little cool, so we chose inside seating. Tables inside are pretty close together, so not much privacy. Reminded me of a small NYC restaurant in this respect.

Ate at Breadfruit with a business acquintance. I wanted to try something new. The Jamacian twist was great. I had the whole red snapper. It was delicious.

The only thing I had a problem with was the lighting. It was so low I had trouble deboning the snapper.

I'd go again.

This was the first time that the drinks tasted mediocre. My first drink was served in a chipped glass, but it was quickly replaced. And because our first round of drinks took a long time, the waitress was nice to not charge for the round, which was greatly appreciated. I hope my next experience will be back to its top notch experience.

In my opinion there is no better restaurant in Phoenix! Danielle and Dwayne have created an escape to Jamaica in the middle of downtown. The level of service and attention to detail are second to none. From the bartenders to the wait staff you will be pampered and well taken care of.
For this visit we had Isaac and we could not have had a better experience. His service was impeccable and knowledge of both the food and drink menus really made for a wonderful dining experience. If you are looking for a special place to celebrate of just get away from the stresses of life you will not go wrong at the Fruit!

There aren't enough stars to review Breadfruit on their food and their service. It is off the charts amazing. Every item of food is a festival of flavor. And their mixed drink options are creative and clever uses of their exhaustive rum bar options. Go and you will not be disappointed.

Really enjoyed our cocktails and food here. The menu is relatively simple but the food was complex and delicious. I don't know if I would recommend this restaurant for anyone who has a lot of dietary restrictions because it is already pretty limited, but it is a great place to try for a date!

How great it is to find a gourmet Jamaican restaurant in downtown Phoenix? Fantastic, small, cozy, charming place with a great rum bar. The cocktails are beautiful & unique. The cuisine over-the-top. It’s not often enough that you can’t decide what to eat when a menu has so many incredible options.

Was disappointed in the food. Pricey for what was served, and my meal was very bland - pork with butter beans and plantains. I've had this before in other locations and it can be a very rich, enjoyable meal. This was blah and the two slices of plantain were hard and flavorless. No condiments on the table - not even salt or pepper. This is supposed to be Jamaican based, but it missed the mark. When I asked for a jerk sauce or condiment sauce, I did get one which had a wonderful flavor, but was charged extra for it. The outdoor setting was nice, our waiter was very pleasant, but there was an extended wait after ordering before food was served. I don't think we'll visit this restaurant again.

Everything about the restaurant is perfect except the noise level. The owners should seriously consider installing sound deadening materials on the ceiling to negate this issue. We would not sit inside in future, only at the outside tables.

This is a very nice restaurant. The food is creative and very good and the range of drinks is amazing. The wait staff guides you as to what drinks go best with the food and are knowledgeable about the unique ingredients on the menu. The only negative for us was the difficulty seeing the menus as the lights are very low. Fortunately, we had light on our phones.
