The food was excellent. The drink menu was interesting and everything we had was very good. Fun little date spot.
I always love this place. The food is delicious and the service is great. I would highly recommend and look forward to my next visit.
Always an amazing place. The food was delicious and the drinks on point.
Great experience as always. This was the second Valentine’s Day dinner here and it exceeded expectations. The food was just amazing and the service was classic breadfruit. Can’t say enough good things.
A specially selected dinner for Valentines Day. Five courses and drink pairings were well thought out. Would love to try regular menu as well. Two thumbs up and a heart hands!
We love this place! Server was on point and very knowledgable about both food and drink menus. Great atmosphere, the place is small, cozy and dim inside. Food portions are on the smaller size for price. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a unique date night!
My friend and I walked in to a very darkly lit room, had the special rum concoction that was already mixed in a punch bowl. It was awful. Then we were seated in the very small dining room. The food was very expensive & very spicy. They do not have bread to serve with the food. I tried another rum drink that the waitress recommended to match up with the jerk chicken. It wasn’t that good either. I had 2 rum drinks & the jerk chicken & my bill was $52 with a small tip. My friend had the awful bread pudding dessert that we split put on her bill & her bill was also close to $50. I wished we had put that money on our concert tickets instead for closer seats.
Drinks were amazing, but the food was underwhelming, very disappointing!
We were asked to move to the courtyard before our dinner was finished because a reservation was thirty minutes late. Essentially moved us so another group could sit. I said we didn’t know we had a time limit to eat. The owner said, there is no time limit but we need you to move for the next reservation. I’m a local. I’ll never go there again. Food is okay. Not worth the money to be treated like that.
We absolutely enjoyed everything here....perfect date night place! My husband got the jerk chicken (we both loved it). I had the seafood stew with dumplings per our waiter's suggestion to try something different since I was originally planning on getting the chicken as well...and I'm glad I tried the stew. It was delicious! The drinks were unique and just as impressive as the food. I had the Parliament Funk (rum and campari were the main ingredients) and a daiquiri with dark rum. The PF was strong and good for sipping and the daiquiri was very rich...almost like a dessert to me. I look forward to coming back!!
Excellent food & the staff did an excellent job matching food with cocktails
Outstanding food, drinks and service. Olivia was spot on with recommendations for dinner and cocktail pairings. We will be back!
Anniversary dinner. Wonderful place for a date.
We love this place and have been coming for ten years. The only thing negative was for the second time in a row they were out of the goat. We will try to get it another time!
This place should be much more popular than it is. The cocktails are simply some of the best in town. The food and shareables are creative and delicious. Sitting at the bar is always a great option, but if you want a table for more than two make sure you get a reservation.
This place was incredible. My coworker and friend recommended it to be after finding out the Bitter and Twisted was closed on a Monday. This was such a pleasant surprise. It's a very intimate and nice date spot. Speaking of dates, my date loved this place. An exclusive rum bar had incredible drinks, something I've not had my palette quite as excited to try. The owner of this bar is a former marine, and my date is one as well, it made for extra brownie points on my end! The decor is stunning and nautical. The food was really decadent and tasty. Our server Brooke was amazing, he knew the menu inside and out and I was thoroughly impressed by his incredible ability to describe everything to us. We took all his recommendations, from the smoked trout appetizer, the mussels and shrimp entree, the rum punch, the rum flights, the bread pudding pie, and then smoking some cigars out back. Gosh, we just LOVED it. This place is perfect and we would return. The only complaint we had was that the hours to smoke out back end at 9 pm and you cannot bring food out there which is understandable. Also, my mussels dish only came with three mussels which we found to be a bit odd since the price didn't reflect the size of the dish, we made a comment and they brought more out. Truly incredible service and I would definitely return. I felt like an upscale pirate all night!
Excellent, creative food with friendly and prompt service. Servers are knowledgeable about the menu and make good recommendations. It’s one of our favorite places to bring out of town friends but wish they could improve the noise level and the lighting. The overall ambiance is nice but conversation is difficult inside on a busy night and flashlights are necessary to read the menu.
Unique---all rum cocktails-- handcrafted and delicious! Food and service were great-- smaller portions though so get the appetizer or salad!
This turned out to be the perfect selection for my birthday celebration...smokey, rich and romantic. The rum tastings were exquisite, the pimento jerk chicken was near perfect...and we couldn't leave without tearing the roof of the mothersucka with a closing shot of Parliament Funk.

Good rum selection but overpriced mediocre food. Curry goat and jerk pork was so salty was almost inedible.
Had a wonderful dinner, with delicious rum cocktails. Had the seasonal dessert with phyllo and plantain filling and literally could have licked the plate clean.
Inspired food and cocktails. Great date spot. Incredible service. Great that the seafood is sustainably sourced.
Great food with a nice atmosphere b
Absolutely amazing! Dinner and cocktails were delicious, you can skip dessert.
We loved everything we tried. Salad, mussel dish , goat and brad pudding. It is expensive but a treat.
The food was delicious. We had 4 people in our party and everyone enjoyed their dish. I had Escovitch Fish & Festival (fish of the day was Mullet). The other 3 in my party had Red Stripe Curried Shrimp, Mussels & Desert Sweet Shrimp Stew and Grilled Tamarind Fish. We all shared Pepper Shrimp and
Roasted Plantains & Mango Dip from the Small Plates options. Finished off the meal with sweet potato pudding à la mode. I had sorrel to drink and one person had Ting grapefruit drink. Everything was delicious. All plates were clean except for fish bones and mussel shells. If I am ever back in Phoenix, I would definitely eat here again.
Great and would love to frequent more often but very pricey for the portion size. Ex...Two relatively small scallops=$14 plus tax. Small plates really add up.
Second time here. Incredible as the first. Excellent food and service and great rum punch!
The breadfruit never disappoints, fantastic food and drinks and our waiter (Olivia) made sure our date night was perfect
Well worth the 45 minute drive for the dinner we had. Excellent menu highlighted by particularly well seasoned sauces. If you like Jamaican cuisine, this is a spot to check out!
Fantastic food , great service, amazing drinks!(black magic woman,0ld fashion are my favorite .and the best music in town ! We were there for their New Year’s Eve special..the 5 course dinner with paired drinks was the best yet ! We could eat there every night...the owners are amazing, friendly people.
Fabulous food and atmosphere. Excellent service. Will definitely recommend.
We have been to Breadfruit a number of times and always have a nice evening. We especially like it because they are open late on weekends. It's a nice relaxed atmosphere with excellent Jamaican food and a variety of rum drinks. Service has always been friendly and timely.
We arrived earlier than our reservation time, but were seated in less than 5 minutes. The wait staff are a real team, food was excellent, and the Rum drinks so yummy! Worth the drive with friends for a great evening out!
Food and service was great, you can tell they really want to please they were very apologetic about wait times for plating if food which we did not feel like it was a long time at all. The goat and fish were excellent. The only issue we had was the desert was not at what we expected and we were not a fan of how it taste. Having said that it was a the only item on the dessert menu so we hopr they add other items because we will be back again.
A wonderful department Christmas dinner for us! Mikey did a wonderful job guiding us all through the menu and helped everyone make choices they were happy with! Thanks as always to everyone at the Fruit who help to make every night and every meal a wonderful experience!
If foodies are snobs, then call me a snob. After my meal at The Breadfruit and Rum Bar, you can also call me a deliriously satisfied snob.
It was our 3rd date, and she loves great food perhaps even more than I do. So the bar for our mutual satisfaction was set pretty high. TB&RB cleared that bar with ease.
We started with cocktails. Our waiter Isaac suggested the "Tamarind Ball II." I'm a whisky guy myself, but this is a rum place. So Isaac recommended the "Punch Bowl Special." We were each blown away by the flavors, balance and complexity of our drinks.
For appetizers we chose the "Appleton Rum Sea Scallops" and the "Pepper Shrimp." The scallops were perfectly prepared. Grilled and crisp on the edges yet soft and buttery on the inside. Perfectly seasoned as well. The Pepper Shrimp was perfect and the spices were seriously hot, (which I like - a lot!) Deserving of special mention were the "fried greens" that came with the shrimp. Delicate leafs of - what? baby spinach maybe? - crisp and perfectly seasoned with salt. Paired with the shrimp, the greens elevated this already excellent dish to a whole 'nother level of awesome.
For entree's, she ordered the "Jerk Pork and Polenta", I took the "Steamed Clams." Entree's of course call for new drinks. She ordered the "Kingston 5" and I had the "Johnny Appleseed." She loved the polenta and the pork was exactly was hoped for - tender, flavorful, delicious. My huge bowlful of beautiful clams were swimming in a spicy, jerk-based sauce. They were perfectly cooked, tender without veering over into chewy, yet still inhabited that spice/salt/heat world characteristic of jerk flavors.
We finished the evening by sharing a mug of hot buttered rum. As awesomely good as everything else was, the hot buttered rum was the coup de gras. Rich buttery flavors, warm rum, silky texture, a mountain of freshly whipped cream. That drink was perfection.
TB&RB was worth every moment and every penny. Go. Enjoy. Return.
Can’t tell you how disappointed we were after reading good reviews but dinner was absolutely not worth the time and money.
Positive: the service was very good - attentive and when dinner started to go downhill, our server was apologetic and frustrated at the position the kitchen put him in. The drink menu is creative and the drinks were good but skimpy on the rum - for $12, I want to taste good rum.
Negative: The restaurant is incredibly loud - it is small so loud is natural. Drinks: as mentioned, making money on liquor cost with tasty but low booze drinks. Food: we tried 2 appetizers (shrimp and scallops) and while tasty, the portions are absurdly small. The jerk chicken was dry; the jerk pork was a B but skimpy portions; the tamarind bass was flavorful but we actually ended up complaining as there were literally 4 bites of fish and a bunch of rice - laughable for the price. We also ordered the curry goat which the server came out and said they were sorry but the prepared dish was not up to standard so it was another 25 minutes for B+ flavors. We were very appreciative of being comped - but again, the portion sizes for the menu prices are absurd- we were not looking for buffet size portions, just something worth the price.
All in all, if they’re trying to compete downtown (which should be easy as there is nothing else in their flavor profile), they have to have delicious food, quality drinks, and portions commensurate with their prices. We won’t return unless we hear they’ve made some changes to their menu.
Food, ambiance and drinks were exceptional.
