From light and nutritious to delicious and indulgent, enjoy an á la carte menu in the Brasserie that showcases flavours, flair and fun using the very best locally-sourced produce.
Not as hygienic as I would expect - especially during Covid times. We had problems with two dishes (I usually never send food back) - but one of the wait staff was great at apologising and dealing with the issues. Food itself was a mix, felt a bit like a restaurant trying to hit above its weight and really not up to the prices being asked.
Totally different from our previous experience, we were greeted within seconds by a lovely young man called Tom, very polite and friendly, the food was delicious, the only criticism is the room was a bit cold
Very slow service. Very limited menu Not many vegetables and no option on the menu to order more.
The starter wasn’t great, (sharing platter which consisted of a couple of bread rolls, butter and olives) but the main meal (chicken) was nice. I wouldn’t say it was value for money though and the drinks were expensive.
Food was amazing!
Lovely atmosphere, helpful staff.
The beef was tough and the lamb lacked flavour. Too many ppapers and chillies
Absolutely lovely. Food gorgeous. Service brilliant.
Very disappointing in every respect. We had read that this hotel had an 'award-winning chef' - if so, he cannot have had much to do with our meal! We ordered Beef as a reheated, factory produced object it was 'saggy' and collapsed with very little meat filling. By contrast, the industrial slab of Lasagne was reheated to the point of being burnt around the outside. As it was our wedding anniversary we were stuck with what was available and as no waiting staff were in the room, we were not able to complain! We ate what we could and left the room, only to be pursued by a waiter, concerned that we needed to log the meal to our hotel room number. Sadly the same energy had not been applied either to the cooking or the service. It was classic 'Fawlty Towers' - we cannot recommend this place as at all representative of what a passable restaurant should be like, even at half of what we paid.
Safe dining venue but food uninspiring.
Helpful and friendly staff
Where have you been for the last three months? Answer please.
Very good value for money , lovely service too.
The hotel itself is a beautiful building and not far from a lot of attractions. But as I write this review, I have been waiting for 40 minutes after eating my mains. The restaurant in the hotel is not very busy but staff are running around like headless chicken! Was not once asked by staff if food was fine. After food was served A waiter slowly approached us and then moved away to get drinks for someone else. My wife and I felt very unwelcome, almost as though us dining was an inconvenience. Very disappointed in the service in the restaurant. Don’t bother eating in!! Staff are not helpful at all!!
We had a lovely meal. My husband had soup and beef, which he said was very tasty and I had goats cheese and pan fried cod which was very enjoyable. Samfire was a new experience and quite tasty if a little stringy . We both had apple torte which was delicious. There were not many people in the restaurant but enough to create a good atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive.
Food was good and well presented. Restaurant staff were attentive.
Was disappointed by the overall atmosphere and bar area. The pictures were good but sadly in reality did not live up to the picture. Shane because food was good.
It's such a shame... The Brasserie could be a lovely place to eat and the concept behind the comprehensive menu is good, but it was not delivered. We were eating on a Monday evening, not always the best night, but there appeared to be an odd mix of food on the plate and the presentation was awful. Coupled with this the efficient staff delivered the food wearing black rubber gloves! This really is not on, and is a first for us. We asked why this was and were told the kitchen insisted they do it. Extraordinary... we eat at many places, including Michelin star restaurants, and no one wears rubber gloves. There is also a very limited drinks menu, including wine. This place has potential and could be so much better.
Excellent food particularly the desserts which were imaginative. Quiet being midweek . Decor very grey and rather cheerless
Great food and wine, good atmosphere, perfect service. Chocolates from restaurant to us were a lovely surprise for our celebrations.
The food and service were excellent. Having special dietary needs the staff catered for me admirably and without fuss. The food was simply delicious.
Lovely meal. Limited menu and very small portions. Presentation was beautiful. Staff friendly and efficient. Pretty good wine list and a fair price. I would recommend, but not if you are starving.
The food, service and price were very good. Will certainly recommend and visit again.
Lovely restaurant in a beautiful location. The service was brilliant, very attentive and the staff lovely. There was a romantic and cozy atmosphere with gentle music playing. The food was delicious and although the portions were not massive there was plenty to fill you without that overstuffed uncomfortableness afterwards. The prices were reasonable and I will definitely return for a visit again in future.
This is fast becoming our go to eatery. The food is such great value and a high standard and great value. The ambience and service is wonderful. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
There were two menus offered - the Brasserie Menu and the Casual Menu. Actually some dishes were offered at the same price on both menus. Whilst generally it is good to have a limited choice rather than a large menu so indicating that the food had been specially cooked, on this occasion the choice was so limited for a stay of three days. On the third day I had cottage pie which was quite difficult to eat from the bowl it contained as it was a little too runny to dig out with a fork. The vegetables, particularly the brassica tops were undercooked.
Compensations were the quiet ambience and the very pleasant staff.
We enjoyed the food we ordered with an excellent and friendly service.
